PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

Random question, I got Rogue Legacy preloaded right now, but I'm going to be out of town next week with my PS4, yet no internet connection, so will it still unlock or does it need to check online first?

Gonna take a wild guess and say it checks online, because if it didn't you could just fast forward the internal clock on your PS4/PS3/Vita... But this is just a guess!

^ Of all the things they said while I was watching that video, one of the kids looking down said something about massive "scale". I lost it right there LMFAO.

Sounds like SCEA is prepping a 2K Vita + 8GB MC + LBP Vita + Tearaway bundle. It's a shame that there isn't a family friendly Vita game with a good port that people have actually heard about coming out next month ... Well, at least SCEA is bundling good games now.

Also, here's 2012's LBP while we advertise 2014's on PS3 and PS4!!!

Finally SCEA are doing something smart :D! Tearaway and LBP Vita are not only some of the best games on the platform but they are also some of the very few examples on how to properly use the system's hardware for unique experiences (Tearaway took an annoying part of the Vita via Rear Touch Pad and turned it into a really fun way to play the game :D).

The bolded is so true man XD!

There's not going to be a Minecraft bundle. SCE is intentionally trying to not sell Vitas now.

Haha.......out of all the games you decide to just ignore, THIS is the one you are going to ignore X(! This could sell Vita's man! If SCEA and SCEE want the Vita to appeal to children, what better game to push then the game kids today love :l. At least the Vita version will be closer to the PS3 one then....

Also, where are the Ratchet & Clank and Disney Infinity Bundles? Both could help push the 'hay, this IS for kids too! Give this a shot parent :D!' angle they are pulling this fall but nope :l....

It seems I won't be able to buy Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds or Trails in the Sky until next month. Oh well, more time for me to dedicate myself to my bar exam and backlog.

Dunno yet:

According to the guy on Giant Bomb, the release date should be September 24th. There's not going to be a Minecraft bundle. SCE is intentionally trying to not sell Vitas now.

Yeah, listened to the podcast. I'll personally have to do some thinking as I really don't want to wait until September 24th, but I don't want to screw myself value-wise either. I was really hoping they were planning a Minecraft bundle at a good price to coincide with its launch in August so I could get a Vita sooner at maybe $179.99 or something.

Yeah I'd guess there'd be an online check in too, but I tested it out just to see. Pulled out the cable on my PS4, set the date two days ahead. The app icon still had an accurate clock and when I went to open it, it indicated that an online check in was needed. Just to be extra scientific, I restarted the PS4, date was still two days ahead, and the countdown clock was still accurate.

I might actually get lucky if that countdown is any indication. Maybe there's some internal clock that can't be messed with. I'll have to see I guess... RL would be a perfect game for the downtime I'm going to have, but if not, oh well, I got Reign of Giants to play.

Quick question to Vita GAF. If you buy Street Fighter x Tekken on PSN, do you automatically get the 12 extra chars DLC for free or was that only time limited and have to buy it now? Curious.

No chance of using your phone (or someone else's) to make a wifi hotspot for the ps4 to do the check?

You get the dlc still, and if you want the PS3 dlc for free after buying SFXT vita just search street fighter x tekken promo dlc and it should be free after buying SFXT vita off PSN

This month they did not update their blog for PS+ once other then July 1st! Maybe its because they released everything together unlikely the previous IGCs? Damn, I'm curious to see what they will be releasing on August IGC.

This ps4 drought is killing me, literally nothing to play till Madden 15 comes out because I'm scared to pick up an indie title and then have it wind up on the following months ps+ offering

July PS+ post midway they said any PS+ updates outside of announcing each months games, will be wrapped up in the weekly store update post.

Really? Isn't the game an 18?
Yes, that doesn't stop Sony from censoring the game precautionary to ensure the 18 rating. Happened with the last God of War and Twisted Metal as well. All EU-wide censored even though they are PEGI/USK 18. (Beyond Two Souls, too but that has PEGI/USK 16)

TIL Batman AO Blackgate is pretty damn boring, but you guys probably already knew that. I wanted to like the game too.

4.20 saved thanks to trying my friend's copy

Think anyone can help with redeeming these Sony Rewards points that have been nonredeemable thanks to 'transaction cannot be completed'. Got enough to spend on $10 which would be extremely helpful for the Play promotion 2014.

That LBP/Tearaway bundle makes a lot of sense, good job Sony.

They're pushing the whole 'Remote Play machine' angle, so there's no point bundling in games that there are equivalents of already on PS4, instead bundle those really unique games that require the touch and the tilt and everything else.

Is there anyway I can block my PS Vita and PS4 from receiving messages from people on my PS3?

For example, I'm playing PS3, I get 4 messages from other PS3 players, I read the messages, and sign off.

I turn on my PS4, and the PS4 says, I have 4 new messages, but they're the same 4 messages I just got on my PS3 and read already.

I turn on my PS Vita, the same thing happens, can I do anything?

I bought Borderlands 2 Vita from fellow Vitabro swnny and it has me hooked! The only reason I'm not playing it right now is because my son is hogging the Vita with my US account.
I'm not that far in yet but so far it performs adequately. It stutters a bit sometimes, making me miss shots but that's alright. It's pretty awesome to play a game of this scope on a handheld, really.

In other news, I bought a Shield for a sweet, sweet price. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Shitty CoD excretion farted out by some licensing agreement? Sure thing brah. Guaranteed smash hit that manages to inject the sales numbers of literally any console it's on with pure adrenalin? No thx.

This is a bad reason to not enjoy a game now, if you have the resources available to do so.

Nope! Mountains of West Va. Have no service, which in this day and age, seems really dangerous/stupid to not have service in an area with some actual population. Only internet option is a park office where I'm staying... I guess I could bring my monitor down there if I'm real desperate.

But I'm actually interested to see what happens, in all likelyhood there will probably need to be an internet check, but my tests with disconnecting it and screwing with the clock only for the preload countdown to remain the same are curious.

I will say that in the specific case of all the August plus games being released in a week and not announced yet I would certainly not buy anything right now for fear that it will end up on plus. But a week ago I bought Transistor and I won't regret it if it ends up on plus because I got my moneys worth from it already. I just dislike when I buy a game, but don't have a chance to play it or only play it for an hour or two and it is free on plus right after. The all games in a month announced and released within 7 days has helped this tho.

Well the PS+ games count down and disable themselves even offline when they expire, maybe there will be something similar for enabling a game. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky.

Whatever happens, please report back with the results. It's something that'll be good to know. For science!

Hmm, hadn't thought of that. Little more optimistic on the unlock offline thing now. There's got to be some internal clock users can't mess with then.

Will do!
