At least Takumaru will be on the stage every now and then, that Rayman trophy made me mad salty, I would have been much happier finding him as a trophy in-game than finding out weeks in advance that a unique model was given just to make him a trophy

The timing of this is too perfect. Takamaru was even hyped on the SDCC stream. Sakurai has consistently shown he has no problem clearly revealing the positions of highly requested/speculated characters straight up. Probably to not lead people on, and possibly because he's just a little bit evil and relishes in it.
