EA announces Subscription Service for Xbox One ($5/month or $30/year, get game vault)

Guys

It's old games in 'The Vault' though, what pre-order bonuses would EA be offering?

I think this sounds ok, I'll pay the price if they add enough games that interest me.

I already edited it, I'm talking about the new games. This is just the start for them, I'll bet.

No. $30 is 10% of $300. So you need to spend enough money to get more than a $30 total discount.

And if you are buying all those games (that will eventually end up in the vault 2-3 years later), the vault isn't that valuable since you already bought those games.

oh derp, I was thinking 15$ because I am splitting the subscription with my brother.

but I would have saved 12$ on BF4 + Premium, 8.50$ on TitanFall + Season Pass, and 1.20 on Peggle.
soooo, around 22$.. so 8$ for a year's access to game vault, not bad

edit: oh and I bought PvZ, so would have saved 4$ from that. so 26$ saved.

Guys they didn't mention you get to play for 5 days, they said you will be able to test the game 5 days before release, but it doesn't mean it's fully playable and open, most likely it's a trial version like plus with a limited time like 1-2 hours, no way it's fully playable for you to beat, there are many people that in 5 days will beat the game, it's not gonna happen.

So let me get this straight in my head

You pay $5 a month and you get early access to the game and a 10% digital discount.

Do you get anything else?

Woah, sounds like a good deal! Could this be the means for me to catch up with Mass Effect? If anything is getting put in the vault, surely the ME trilogy will be a front runner.

After what they showed at E3 playing year old games is what I would expect EA to be selling at this point.

beyond DragonAge nothing else even interests me.

Agree. It appears to be full access for 5 days. If you like it, you buy it and pick up where you left off.

That doesn't sound like full access for five days to me...
If you’re an EA Access member, you can download upcoming EA games five days before the release date to play for a limited time

I don't understand everyone bringing up PSNow other than a price discussion. This EA thing isn't a streaming service correct?

This seems like a great deal but, I can't help but wonder about what this means for the future of gaming. If this works then other publishers will surely do the same.

Eventually it could become something to the point where if you have the sub you have access to the game/DLC a month before those without it, if at all on the extra content front. Then you're looking at $50 for online, $30 here, $30 there, etc, etc just to get all of the content on time and save 10% in doing so.

Not to mention that at that point services like PS+ and GWG lose a lot of value.

Of course it could always go the other way and people could stop buying new games and just wait for them on the paid service and it would end up benefiting the consumer. Then you're paying $30/year to play your title a year later but, once the collection is large enough that won't really matter for single player games and some really large multiplayer ones. The back catalog should have enough in it that it's always new to you.

I'm interested to see how this goes...

There is absolutely no-fucking-way that they would give full access to new games for 30 dollars. Do you realize how much money they would lose?

Oh my no. $30 to get 6$ off of the full digital version.

The subscription is $5 a month. So you could pay $5 for a particular month, which would get you $6 off the price of a $60 game.

For people who choose to go all digital, this would mean that if they're buying a new game on release day, they can subscribe for a month, save $1 on the cost of the game, plus get access to whatever games EA has in their vault.

If you plan on buying 5 newly released EA games in a year, the $30 subscription fee is basically paid for.

Overall, this sounds like a good deal, and a value to gamers who've gone the digital only route on XB1 this gen.

I hope this eventually includes a free-to-join MMO which requires a paid subscription.

My reasoning: I want to see people pay for an MMO subscription which requires an EA subscription and requires an XBL Gold subscription and both of which require an internet subscription.

Access member, you can download upcoming EA games five days before the release date to play for a limited time. Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA LIVE 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition are all included, with more to come. If you love it, buy it, and you can pick up right where you left off.

Sounds like a demo. Why else mention 5 days and limited time, they could have just said 5 days.

Yeah, instead of the early access to new sports games + discounts on those games as well as their DLC!

I don't know that I'd buy 5 EA games to even break even at $30 for a year.

But if you are going all digital and you buy virtually all of EA's games, this is not a horrible deal at least.

Could be good, could be underwhelming. Depends on what game will be included. Since a selling point is buying new games at a discount, it likely won't include new games.

I think they should would have more to gain from making a subscription option for their sports games. Something where you pay something like $40 per year for Fifa and get each year's new game as an update.

You pay $5 a month and you get early access to the game and a 10% digital discount.

Do you get anything else?

You get access to the new games "for a limmited time", up to 5 days before they are released. They will probably use that same offer like with Origin, countdown timer from the moment you start playing that new game.

As for older games, they will have no restrictions, they can be played as long as you want.

So a Demo of the first level with a cliffhanger? if you want more buy next week!
