Guys, this is a sensitive time. We can't just go around talking willy nilly about random stuff. I mean, thanks to this page, there's now a chance we'll get representation from the star wars prequels in tomorrow's potd.

You guys have to get serious about this shit. Why isn't anyone talking about Issac?

Ok fine. Izak4Smosh pls, Mashpatato Samurai =]

Guy, we really need to come together as a community and discuss the same thing. If we're all over the place, he won't know what to reveal.

I vote for Earthbound. I'd love Ness to be shown off, but maybe we can get an Earthbound stage tease before an actual character like with the Boxing Ring.

Isaac would be the best newcomer ever revealed in the history of history
Ridley would be the second best
Wonder Red third
King K. Rool fourth
and Paper Mario fifth
after that you're unimportant

Alex Kidd will never be the Sega Rep. :(

I want Sakurai to reveal Lucas first to make people go nuts over wether or not Ness is cut again.

Problem is that they rarely shown Veterans on Wednesday since they usually post them up on Thursday or Friday.

I don't know why people are asking for newcomers...they tend to come w/ trailers..so unless Sakurai randomly tweets about a direct or a specific time for a reveal soon...it is unwise to attempt to use our "powers" for that.

We've already gotten an Assist Trophy and stage this week... let's talk bosses! Particularly the giant purple dragon and king crocodile variety. ;)

I bet we'll see "Smash Run Boss" soon, probably Kraid that was hinted at during E3 by some Nintendo dude.

Let's get Ruto in the house.

Impa would be ballin though as well. I'd want her moveset to be like the giant sword Hyrule Warriors one though with her using water for no reason.

Edit: Actually, I'd love Fi and Ghirahim as a tag team as well.

If he shows Boss Ridley tonight after all the dragon/ridley talk, I'm just going to leave GAF forever because it doesn't get any better than that.

Do not hold me to this.

We'll just see Charizard's Final Smash.

POTD: Charizard's type changes to Dragon during his Final Smash.

Yeah, I'd like to see some of this; bosses are cool when they aren't in the middle of an FFA (Best Buy demo has me salty), and as someone said, there's only 33 PotDs left until the Japanese release, so time's running out!

Although hopefully it's the "Big Kremling" the same rep accidentally mentioned to end debate on if it was K. Rool or Klubba. Especially if it's Klubba because K. Rool's odds'd skyrocket immediately! Unfortunately, now we're expecting Kraid, so the hype's dampened.

Isn't Lip the most "who?" character in Nintendo, that all of her games are remade into others when brought overseas?

I don't understand what the deal with bosses is. It seems like they made a big deal out of them when they talked about the yellow devil, but afaik, they haven't said anything about bosses since then.

The way they talked about bosses, I was kind of expecting them to be something more than just stage hazards. Maybe a mode on Wii U where the person with the Gamepad can control the boss or something. Would be a cool way to play as the master hand. Hell, I thought that giant gooper blooper from the paper Mario level would be a "boss" (whatever that really means), but it wasn't even mentioned in pic of the day.

I thought they would be a cool way to get more characters in that don't necessarily fit as playable characters.
like Ridley.

I am still very curious about what Quinton Flynn said about doing work for Super Smash Bros. That leaves the door open for Snake/Raiden a little bit.

In other delicious news, the 3DS selection of stages is looking great so far! Still many franchise holes that need filling, though.

Thats a lot of stages so far when you consider how many have been made across both versions. The amount of Mario stages make me curious as to how many we should expect. I expect there to be a significant portion of returning stages from 64, Melee and Brawl.

Pokemon- Saffron City would make a good return and would be pretty appropriate.

Wario- Wario's Castle from Super Mario Land 2 would be great homage and is the literal birth of Wario's character. Although I get the feeling we would sooner get a wario ware stage.

DK- there are so many amazing potential stages from DKCR3D. However a stage from DK94 or from Mario vs. DK would be a good choice as long as it doesn't end up like 75M.

Metroid- SR338 would be a great stage that could represent Fusion and Metroid 2.

Star Fox- I'm not sure what could be done. Another stage based on flying on great fox or some spaceship would be boring. Also SF64 has been represented well enough throughout the series. Although Im not sure what they could pull from Command that wouldn't be generic. Perhaps just sending Corneria over and calling it a day would be sufficient.

Kirby- not familiar enough with the series but there should be tons of potential material to pull from. Canvas Curse was a pretty popular Kirby title that is getting a sequel on the Wii U so that'd be cool.

With Sakurai announcing that the 3DS version would be mostly based on handheld entries I was hoping for a bit more. Smash in previous entries has been pretty good at representing the present, future and past of Nintendo. However with stage selections in Smash and some character choices it feels they are skewing way too heavily to the present. Their handheld legacy in particular has been largely untapped and it seems like a missed opportunity with the 3DS. Especially when looking at the Mario stages. While I'm glad Paper Mario got a stage, it would seem more appropriate for the Wii U version since Paper Mario was born and primarily is a console franchise. Likewise Golden Plains is kinda lame when there are a lot of other handheld mario titles they could delve into.

Isn't Lip the most "who?" character in Nintendo, that all of her games are remade into others when brought overseas?

Lip is definitely not the most "who?" character, especially considering the fact Lip's been indirectly represented in Smash since Melee with her staff as item, and her theme in Brawl as well.
Plus, it doesn't matter. We've had Japanese-only characters before with Marth (prior to Smash at least), Roy and Lucas. Takamaru is one of those characters as well. Or Prince Sable who seems to be considered being a possibility for a retro character.

Now it all comes down to the franchise that the item belongs to. That is for us to decide.

The official SmashGAF Oracle Loco4Coco has further suggested that tonight may be the night of Mr. Saturn, so it's Earthbound.

Thinking about it seriously for a moment, it's certainly possible that we could see Mr. Saturn before we see Ness or Lucas. As with ICs, Sakurai has shown that he's willing to reveal smaller elements of a franchise before he reveals the playable reps.
