I'm going for retail. The difference between a digital and retail purchase over here would be like $32. Not worth it for the 'convenience of not switching discs'.

Isn't there more than one Ark?
Is there?

They made multiple amounts of the thing meant to control all halo arrays? That seems... stupid.
Especially considering that probably wouldve made Halo 3's plot a lot easier to resolve. "Just beat them to the OTHER Ark"

Even if there was, this is the Halo ring from 1 and 3, which we know was being rebuilt by the Ark they blew up.

Logically the Halo rings must have extensive self-repair capabilities. Not enough to recover from a fusion detonation shattering the ring since the Ark manufactured a new ring, but extensive... though it might be possible the original can fix itself but it lost contact with the Ark so the Ark made a new one.

Do note we don't know which 04 this is, the original or the replacement though.

The original was blasted to pieces, the fate of the replacement is murky.

Frankie indicated Nightfall's Halo traveled through slipspace, so perhaps it is the replacement one shattered for some other reason than a fusion explosion so its self-repair capabilities could be still working.

They outright said it is the Halo from the first game.

Yes, we do. It's the one from CE.

I think that perhaps this is Forerunner penchant for segmentation and redundancy rearing its head. The ring cannot possibly repair itself, but the individual chunks are trying to anyway. Bet that's where the lethal mineral is coming from as well.

That seems like quite the immense asspull when they couldve just had it take place on a different instillation, but I guess we'll see the reason they give when it comes out and see if its stupid or not.

Yeah, we really have no clue. Hopefully whatever they've got cookin is interesting!

Well nothing super literally. The self repair thing just sounded super "well thats convenient" when I heard it, I dunno.

Someone didnt play Halp 3
That was building a replacement, not repairing the original. I imagine as a failsafe the Halos can very slowly repair themselves if they lose contact with the Ark.

I've played every Halo game. Thanks for NOT helping.

To be fair I never really followed the lore behind the Halo's themselves. I enjoy the story of the Forerunners, Precursors and humanity in the games and books.

We know Halo rings are modular, the original 6 were big, 30k km diameter rings, but were capable of getting rid of their damaged segments and shrinking down to smaller size. Indeed one of the current seven is one of the original six rings, the rest are part of 12-ring strong array consisting smaller, 10k km diameter rings.
We also know that they have capability to traveling in slipspace, though i'm not quite sure if they have on-board slipspace generators, considering the Ark has the massive Portal for moving them around. On the other hand, it could be that the Portal is for extreme distance transit and the on-board slipspace generators for shorter distances.
If they have slipspace drives, and considering their modular nature, each segment must have its own slipspace drive for redundancy, something the Forerunners like a lot (they had a place for manufacturing more rings, if that isn't redundancy i don't what is). Because each one didn't have its own, few well placed hits would disable the rings ability to move around.
Considering the extreme redundancy, them having extensive self-repair capabilities is very logical, not to mention important considering what they store and kill: the Flood.

Sorry.

Sometimes I feel the need to get my 1337 epic jokes out there over answers because I assume theyre obvious to everyone.
Im a jackass basically.

Though speaking of

I finally have enough spending money to buy an xbone. Should I wait to see if there'll be a $399 console with MCC included? I have a strong feeling they'll bundle the game at the same price.

No? They did it with Titanfall, right? I would guess if they did it they would include a digital download of the game.

I just can't see them offering that price for a bundle with a brand new game. Especially a game that is going to push XO console sales more than any XO game available.

I would love to be wrong though!

I was wondering this myself after I saw a Halo themed Xbox One pic from Comic Con. I haven't bought any of the consoles this gen and I'm leaning toward Xbox One for my first purchase (for Halo duh). Wondering if there will be a special halo themed one for MCC or if it will be when Halo 5 hits.

I don't quite know how I feel that this is my most excited 2014 release. On the bright side I very rarely use my Xbox One and I doubt I'll be off it for the months after the release, I still can't believe the value in this package.

Titanfall was a brand new game, The Master Chief Collection is a collection of old games. Titanfall was supposed to push more consoles than any other game.
A 399 MCC bundle would push more consoles than not doing one. MS would have to be pretty dumb to not do a 399 bundle.

For MCC no one knows to be honest. At this point, it could go either way. But Halo 5 theme console is inevitable. I can bet my life on that.

edit

we still don't have the Comic-con panel up. This sucks :( I am done waiting.

Mmmhmm.

Hopefully finish me Halo 3 solo legendary run this time, if I can make it through the Cortana mission without being bored to tears or demoralized. That's where I bowed out last time and its bugged me ever since.

A mate does no death (as in zero deaths per whole campaign mission) and Cortana took him 6.5 hours to complete without dying. Yes he's nuts, he has B.net Pro fileshare of each mission without a single death. Insane and I could never do that for Cortana, oh the pain.

Im tempted to go onto the waypoint forums and just spam that stupid picture I made till its up at this point.

I'd highly recommend against that ;)
Unless you want to ODST drop pod to banville right quick

Double post like I don't care...

So this was posted over at Waypoint...Note the main title starting with "Goal", I wouldn't call it confirmation but it appears to be nice they're targeting the original H2 state as much as possible.

Oh and the other major one on there: Proximity Voice BABY!

CLANS!!!!! :D

Host Migration? Why?

I shed a tear when I saw clans. I think the host migration will be some pseudo actual change thing. With everything being on dedicated servers, I would guess they are arbitrarily picking a host and if he quits we'll get the blue screen of change.
