PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

Ar no surge has a Vita ver. releasing in November in Japan. I might get the Vita ver. if it is similar to the PS3 ver., has good gameplay, and the generic anime clicheness is not cringeworthy.

Its winter here in aus, no summer to kick off!

Hey does anyone know if I buy the digital version of a game (BF4) and have already installed the content off a retail disk, would I need to re-download the whole game again?

Well, I'm terrible at Rogue Legacy.

Although I was also terrible at Spelunky once, and now I'm just bad, so there is hope.
Me too. It's pretty unforgiving. Giving back the gold every time is making it hard for me to progress. Can't stay alive long enough to get enough gold to upgrade anything at the moment haha...

I am also terrible at it, but it's starting to click after I put a few points into the class upgrades. The Barbarian shout and Paladin shield abilties are really good. I've also just unlocked a vampire sword that gives me 2HP back per kill, and ran into the first boss. The best I can say is that it was a short fight and at least I'd earned enough to buy a shiny new breastplate before dying.

JP PS Store: http://gamestalk.net/nippon-ichi/

Some pretty nice sale, but I didn't know that half of those still haven't gotten a PS The Best version (at least that's what they look like based on the DL ver price).

I'm eye-ing Antiphona (supposedly the successor to the Marl Kingdom series) and La Pucelle Ragnarok.

P.S. If anyone is thinking of buying Criminal Girls (the one on sale is PSP; BTW, can anyone post a link to the announcement that we can't discuss it?), I'd suggest that you wait a bit. There was a rumour that says that it'll get a PS Vita The Best (aka low budget ver) some time on September.

Two questions!

1. Which one: Spelunky or Rogue Legacy?

2. Have you tried Pure Pool on PS4? It is made by the same people of awesome Hustle Kings.

Thanks.

Is it possible that the PS3 HDD could have less available space due to the console being turned off while deleting a game? Because it has less available space than it should and I remember some time ago my brother inadvertently pulled the plug while Battlefield 3 was being deleted.

Completed the first phase of Mind Zero and the game seems decent to me. The voice acting is good, the combat is decent and I've enjoyed the dialogue so far

Argh typical me to get my wallet with my cards in it stolen the day before the PSN sale! Had to cancel everything. Luckily, sale doesn't look that appealing outside of the cheap Broken Sword 5 which I'll be snapping up.

Luckily had a £10 PSN voucher from my graduation saved up so gettin' on dat Rogue Legacy posthaste.

I am curious about this game. It seemed like people hated on it a bit. Did anyone play enough of it to give some impressions?

Man I just can't with the first boss in Rogue Legacy. So frustrating. The blood he throws at you all over the place seems so damn random, I can't get a pattern to avoid it. When he does the swirls it's okay since I can jump and dash around to the other side to avoid it. Doesn't help that I die in like 3 or 4 hits.

Same thing here. I am just grinding away hoping to eventually out stat him to some degree. The game is crazy addictive though. Its always just one more run.

I've played the game to completion, spent over 70 hours with it, even got the platinum trophy. Since everytime I say it was a decent game, I get attacked because apparently I know nothing, I'll say that the game was decent for me (or else I wouldn't have spent over 70 hours on it). The story is good, although the ending doesn't give it a closure (I didn't mind it, myself). The gameplay is good as well, since it builds a decent DRPG with a nice new Mind tactic (your character controls a Mind during battle, and you control both at the same time). The soundtrack is pretty good, even though later in the game, they repeat the dungeon themes (once or twice). There are a decent amount of enemies, although later in the game Euterpe just pallet-swaps, and the bosses can get pretty challenging.

It's still a lesser game compared to Demon Gaze, but even still, it was a nice game for me. I very much doubt anyone that says it's garbage got past the first three dungeons, or even has played the game.

I want to buy Toukiden. Should I do it now?

If you want it, why not? Games with a strong multiplayer coop focus like this, it is better to buy sooner than later, since the community could dissapear or everyone is so overpowered and won't do low level missions with you.

So if I finish Demon Gaze or get tired of it its not a bad next crawl to head to if nothing else has been localized that is better. Thanks for your impressions! I don't know why anyone would attack you for them.

Trust me, my opinion is apparently a very unpopular one, but I can assure you as a DRPG fan that you can do a lot worse than Mind Zero.

Yes that can happen. Happened to me on the Vita, where a video file I had deleted was still using up space.
Rebuilding the database should usually fix this. The corrupt file should either end up to be automatically deleted or restored and you can delete it again properly.

(messages, playlists and folders will be deleted during the process on the PS3, no important files like saves or games)

Both great but I would say spelunky. But tgrt are quite different.

I only played the offline content and did all but about 4 quests. Took 50 hours. So yeah go for it.

I fought him a few times on PC (gave up on that version as Xbox controller dpad is shocking). But I would guess trying the shield block for times you can't dodge?

Game plays so well on vita. Its dpad is perfect.

I decided to actually try playing Valhalla knights 3 after buying it in a sales months ago and only playing it for 90 mins.

I have now played it for 15 hours and here are my thoughts:
Its VERY Grundy
It has really silly difficulty spikes that cycle back to the grindyness
Graphics are meh
Sexy time is really dumb
Dialogue us aweful
Story is bollocks
It doesn't explain anything at all.
Its technically terrible.

But I'm enjoying it lol. I guess its all the loot, stats and building up a whole team balanced to how you want it. I just seem to chill out on it while having a giant bomb quick look on in the background or something.

Very strange.

If you find it for a good price and don't care for online, sure - online's mostly dead, so I can't really recommend it at full price.
There's a demo on PSN too, and the save can be carried over.

He's brutal at the beginning. I saw people on my friends list beating him with ~10 children and can only praise then. Or call them haxx0rs.
I avoided him after dying some times and just focused on getting money and upgrading. Managed to beat him easily with my 63th child then, lol.

I'm on phase 4 or 5, can't remember which. The game isn't anything special but it isn't as bad as some others claim it to be. It can get repetitive, but you can fast forward battles thankfully.

The only major gripe I have with the game is the Extreme mode. Naturally, battles are tougher. You can get wiped by normal enemies easily if you're not paying attention. My problem is with the boss battles. It's one thing to grind so you can easily kill the normal enemies and prepare for the upcoming boss fight, it's another when even when you can breeze through everything because you've been killing the same monsters for hours the boss can two shot you.

In short, the amount of grinding it takes to easily take down bosses irks me and is a bit too much for my tastes. I swear, with each new Phase I have to grind more and more.

As far as I've seen there aren't a lot of monster variations - mostly just palette swaps. The combat has potential, but with all the grinding becomes quite dull.

Anyone else having problems opening the web PSN Store:
https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com
I can't even log in from the PS Vita... was fine a hour ago. :o
This is the case for me on any given day, but on Tue and Fri for certain. It's been this way for me since the PS3. I'm honestly more surprised when things run smoothly on the store than not. Fortunately, multiplayer doesn't seem to suffer from this (I assume because that is all p2p). PEACE.

Ok guys, convince me to buy Rogue Legacy.

I love Metroidvania platforming games, but I'm a bit scared that this one wears out too soon or becomes too repetitive!

My exact thought after one hour with RL. I just have to keep in mind that the game's meta progression curve just hasn't presented it self to me yet. The action-platforming is balls hard. Do all use the auto down stab setting? And is there an OT for this game?

Depends on what you Like from a metroidvania type of game. Do you like the exploration? This Castle will be completely new each time you enter, so it's a new place to explore each time (with some exceptions)!

Do you like Collecting? Lots of different items to collect, tons of equipment, mystic runes, and stat building (based on gold collected)!

Do you like a gripping story? You are the descendent of a great hero and are entering the castle to conquer it, and when you die your chosen child will enter as well. (ok, not so gripping)

Do you like the varied bosses? only 5 bosses.

If you like those first two items (like I do) then this is an easy sell. If you are in it for the story and the inevitable 'boss rush' then get it anyways because it might scratch that castlevania/metroid itch that has been sorely lacking the last few years.

I personally think that if you need to be convinced to buy something, it's better to save your money for now and wait for a better sale down the line.

I really like it. I've played around 70 hours and I still have some sidequests left. AI is competent and you'll be able to finish most (all the stuff) without touching the online portion. I haven't played online all that much yet I only have a few quests from Chapter 7 and Phase 7 left (phases are MP levels, but you can play them alone or with AI partners).

I think it's completely worth your time and money. I hope Tecmo announces Kiwami soon. With a retail version. I'll sell my original retail copy as soon as it's announced for the West.

What Rally game?

WRC4, I guess.

Have you seen the Digimon smash bros for PS360?

I guess Digimon for Vita has now big chances of being localized.

I keep saying that despite everything Vk3 is fun and addictive, but people made up their mind without even trying it.

Rogue Legacy is way better than I could ever imagine on Vita, such a perfect fit,
but it also seems easier than on PC?
Seems like more drops of blueprints and diaries than I remembered.
