PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

hope ya'll get milla returns tales of xillia 2 when it comes out on the 19th

I'm going to give classes to a kid this month. Part of my hard earned money is saved for that cute little Limited Edition and its Metal Case :) The Collectors one was too expensive for my tastes though :(

There's an LE? Over here it's only the the standard edition and the CE. And the CE isn't to my liking. Plus I'm not that much of a huge tales fan to drop that much money on a CE just yet

I'm really looking forward to ToX 2. Loved ToX and I'm currently doing a run through of ToX again, but this time the Japanese version.

Out of all the ones I've played (Tempest, Abyss, Graces F, Symphonia) Xillia is still my favorite (then again I lasted only til Chapter 2 on Graces F and I have yet to finish Symphonia)

I'd love to try out Vesperia one of these days.

If you understand Japanese and have a PS3, we not getting it? Overall my list is Vesperia > Xillia > Graces > Eternia > Abyss. I really think ToV is the best entry in the series :)

I think the "Day One" edition has a Metal Case. I've just checked and Amazon.es says so:

La Edición de Lanzamiento incluye, además del juego completo, una exclusiva caja metálica y un CD con los mejores temas seleccionados por el equipo de desarrollo.

yeah, that's what I'll probably do on the end to experience Vesperia. Was planing to rent Vesperia when I was borrowing a friend's xbawx a while back, but I wasn't too fond of the controller.

I wish Namco would put more (original) tales game on handhelds. I know they did a number of them on the DS and PSP, but would be neat for the Vita and the 3DS to get some of them. The 3DS is getting one (and IIIRC, it's a spinoff), I wish the Vita would get an original title as well before it's fully ded.

If Zestiria is a sample of the new direction the series is going, I wish they keep the not-so-old approach (instanced with 2D movement + free roaming) in handheld devices.

I am curious about this game. It seemed like people hated on it a bit. Did anyone play enough of it to give some impressions?

I played a few chapters in before losing interest. Not because the game was bad (its just average, for better or worse) but I was inundated by other games to play and it got lost in the mix. I'll go back and finish it up at some point. I recommend it as long as you know that you're going into a budget RPG that borrows heavily from much better games. The music is very good, also.

Yesss. I'll wait for a sale since I've already played this on PSP

Yes that can happen. Happened to me on the Vita, where a video file I had deleted was still using up space.
Rebuilding the database should usually fix this. The corrupt file should either end up to be automatically deleted or restored and you can delete it again properly.

(messages, playlists and folders will be deleted during the process on the PS3, no important files like saves or games)

Thank you! Will try this later.

I've had a PS3 for almost 3 years and didn't know there was a recovery mode...

Two questions!

1. Which one: Spelunky or Rogue Legacy?

2. Have you tried Pure Pool on PS4? It is made by the same people of awesome Hustle Kings.

Thanks.

1. I love me some Rogue Legacy but I'm not ready to jump in again for that price.

2. Pure Pool. Since it was on sale for 9 bucks with plus I decided to give it a go (and picked up Backgammon Blitz for 2 bucks as well.)

It looks like the only unlockables are cues tied to level. One location to play in but it's very well designed. Outside of targeting, which can be disabled, there's no other indicators on screen (i.e. power meter, english marker, etc)

Man, has this game been a good buy. It looks amazing and plays well. Gamer performance is top-notch. I can see it being quite the time killer for me. I've only played local so far and the hand-off 2 player is quite nice.

My new HDD has arrived for my PS4. Apart from backing up all my saves to the cloud, is there anything else I need to do before putting the new HDD in? (I know about putting firmware on USB etc.)

I never did this for the PS3, but from what I understand, you have to format the new hard-drive you got via PS4 (I think you plug the HDD in with a USB cable, then select some options on PS4 menu). Once it is formatted I even think you could just copy over all your saves/games/media from the PS4 to the new HDD that way. Then you turn off the PS4 and use the firmware trick with the USB drive then it should be okay :).

Again, I never did this, so I recommend you look on YouTube or something for a better idea on how this stuff works.

Curious about which HD you picked up, mind sharing the link?

Did they keep the human character models? Or are those out now?

I'm interested but I wish there was a demo

I haven't seen them in local player, play against the AI or the career mode. If the models are there, they're hiding.

I have no regrets buying this. It's worth the price just knocking a few balls around while figuring out what to play or waiting for people to the ready. It's really good.

Done. There was a 14 gb damaged file(which was probably Battlefield 3). Thanks again! :D

There are still 30 gb missing though... :/

Anyone got an opinion on conception 2 on vita? Watching a video review. Looks alright.

It's pretty bad. The humor in the game gets old really fast, the dungeons are tedious, the story is crap, the characters are crap. The game is filled with fanservice. There's a demo if you want to give it a try though

Gameplay while fun at first gets VERY REPETITIVE, so many people who like to casually grind might hate the game. Other then that Vita version of conception 2 runs a lot better then the 3DS version and looks better. Nothing really special out of the story either.

I can recommend Pure Pool also. The movement, physics and reflections on the balls all look fantastic.
I only wish for more backgrounds but the customisations on the table are great.

Guess I won't bother then lol. Thanks.

Glad it helped :)
But I'm not sure what to do about the rest. The PS3 does reserve ~10% of the HDD probably for caching, which can be stupidly large on bigger HDDs. Would that explain the additional 30GB missing?

I have a tiny 160 GB HDD, with 149 gb available space. Even with 10% reserved for caching, there should be 135 GB more or less, so I'm still missing 15 gb.

I need to get a 500gb HDD though. I could've been ok even with this HDD if the PS3 didn't have that darned requirement to have double the space you need to install a game.
Yesterday I wanted to reinstall MGR but needed 40 gb, wtf

Conception 2 is one of the worst JRPGs I've played in recent years. It's a shame, because you can see there was a hint of potential behind every aspect of the game.

MAGES has trademarked Hentai Collection.

IT'S COMING, GUYS! THE GAME YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!

Hentai is not what you think it is. <_< Just have same pronunciation

I think that's a bit harsh. It had wasted potential, yes, but it was enjoyable for what it was. I had fun with it, anyway.

in b4 'you have shit taste'.

You don't have shit taste. I hate people that say that, you don't have to worry about me bashing your opinion. I enjoyed how I could "play" the game while watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer on Netflix, so that's one thing. Soundtrack isn't that bad, but I can't stand that "congratulations on your new arrival" jingle.

Had that been Sentai instead of Hentai, I would be all over it.

But I liked that jingle...

Yeah, I liked the fact I could just play aimlessly while doing something else. And I will admit that jingle made me snicker the first time I heard it.

Finished another dungeon in Persona 4, this time saving
Naoto
. Decent chance that if I stick with it I can make even more progress before I have to go back to work in a couple weeks.

I'm already starting to lose interest in Treasures of Montezuma Arena. Once you've finished story mode there's no way to replay it as far as I can tell, and everyone I challenge seems to be at least ten levels higher than I am, which means they've either been playing the game constantly since Tuesday, or they're European players that got the game more than a month ago.

How are the trophies for the game?

A couple of them seem like they'll take a while. One is earn 10,000 honor points, I get between 40-70 per person I beat, but can also lose just as many when I get beaten. You can also lose or win points when you're not even playing the game. Also entering 100 elite tournaments, tournaments cost either 1000 or 5000 crystals to enter, and there's about five of them a week. You also have to beat 100 people but I don't think that one will take too long, provided I get matched with similarly leveled players more often. And then you have to buy every item in the game which is going to cost a lot of crystals.

Wow, doesn't sound easy at all. I liked the first Montezuma game, but couldn't bother keep playing after a couple of weeks. Thanks for the opinion.

came in looking for August thread -disappointed-

EDIT
- hmm Pure Pool is tempting
- thinking of getting Rock Band Blitz... I shouldn't hold out for a sale right?

Would Vita fall under console or mobile in this? I wasn't sure if they meant mobile specifically or mobile platforms, i've also heard people put it in the catigory of console before (because it's a portable console essentially)

I've been thinking for awhile about how more bought over visual novels on Vita would be such a welcome thing so I have no problem mentioning it despite not recognizing some of Sekkai Projects titles they want to bring over.

I mentioned on both. Just write "Vita" on "Others".

I just got a fusion accident on P4G but it turned out exactly how it should have. Same persona (Jinn) and same selected moves to pass down. That is weird.

Got the Ratchet Collection and gotta say, really impressed with how each game runs :D.

The original feels floaty and stiff but that was the case for the PS2 and PS3 versions too and the strafing controls for Ratchet 2/3 feel perfect (never had an issue with the rear touch pad; using a grip makes it even better :)).

The visuals really pop off the Vita screen and the frame rate downgrade (60 to 30FPS) really isn't that bad at all; the games still feel great to play and the frame rate rearly dips that much (only played about a half hour of each game and it only happened once in Ratchet 2).

It feels great to own almost all of Sony's platforming mascots in one spot (Ratchet, Spyro, Sly and Crash) :D. Glad I paid for the games rather then still be sour over the lack of cross-buy :).
