This is why it's bad to call it "HCEA's multiplayer in Reach's engine" rather than just calling it for what it is: a map pack for Reach. If people think it's its own separate multiplayer but just using "Reach's engine", they don't think it's too far fetched to have it in the MCC. If they see it for what it really is, a map pack for a separate game, they realize how ridiculous it is to expect it to be in the collection.

Absolutely. Sure they tweaked some stuff/weapons for the gametypes on those maps but it was still a stand-alone map pack.

Yup, and if they were going to bring the "CEA Multiplayer" over then at that point they might as well port all of Reach over.
...Which I kinda wish they were doing...
I mean I know this is the Master Chief Collection but you could rationalize Reach because it ties directly into Halo CE, I mean by the end Reach changes from a prequel to the Halo Trilogy to a direct prequel to Halo CE. Hell, CEA uses a ton of Reach assets and so far we see that that seems to be continuing in H2A. Oh well.

Guys I want to start playing Halo 3 on legendary on Solo. Any tips? And some confidence would be great.

I'd give you my magic feather, but I need that to fly.

Anyway, Legendary is Legendary. Take it slow, pick off as many enemies as you can on the approach.

Take your time, plasma weapons for Elites and Brutes, patience.

Clear the jackels sniper first!

oh damn, I was hoping if someone would tell me to rush and find checkpoints lol
slow it is then, I am gonna start in 1hr or so.

Not sure where else to ask this but while watch tv yesterday I came across an Xbox One commercial that I intially thought was for the Halo collection. Then it started showing other games and Rocky started giving his speech to his son from Rocky Balboa as the montage went on.

Thought it was pretty neat.

One of the better ads Xbox has had in a while, along with the Aaron Paul tv spot.

I also loved the debut trailer, but I chalk that one up to my love for The Hives.

As crazy as it sounds .. I would by the One for the Halo MC Collection. It would be great if the One was smaller in size and a bit cheaper but this collection intrigues me. I haven't finished all the Halo games. Just Halo 2.

Halo is probably the only game, that you can comfortably say you will buy Xbox just to play it and it won't sound crazy at all. And this is a god like pack.

Wait for MCC and play Halo 3 in 1080p 60fps on dat X1 controller. Play ODST or Reach instead, because they won't be included.

As far as gameplay, take it slow and make your ammo count. Don't let yourself get flanked.

I think you are not alone with this opinion ;)

Any word on how the friends list is going to work? I don't know if it's just me or if I'm missing some feature but inviting friends on Xbox One seems more cumbersome (and slower) than 360 where you just pressed the Guide button. I would kill for a built in feature that just showed all your friends with the ability to one click invite any one of them. Destiny sort of had this but it still forced you to go through a few steps before you could invite someone.

Well I already beat Reach on Legendary, I followed speed run walkthrough on YouTube lol. So ODST and Halo 3 are only left. So I want to do it now and I will do it again when the MCC collection drops. But not beating Halo 3 and ODST on legendary seems like unfinished business and its eating my head. I have been thinking about this for months now, and finally decided I will do it today.

They may do a Destiny solution, where you can access an in-game menu and invite people from there. They're also rolling out a new Friends tab for the menu, but I'm not 100% clear what it features.

Oh man getting memories of the old Suicide tactic in legendary coop one person hiding behind a rock the other(s) running out slowly wearing down the enemy. good times can't wait to do it all again.

I wouldn't say it's crazy. Hell, I was thinking of buying an X1 just for this, and everything else (i.e. Killer Instinct and Sunset Overdrive) would be bonuses. This would be the first time I've ever played a Halo game, and playing through all 4 in a row remastered seems like the perfect way to dive in. You often hear about people wishing they could re-experience a game for the first time again, and I'm sure as hell going to appreciate every second of taking this series in for the first time. I'm not sure if I'll buy it this winter (thinking about building a PC), but it's definitely something I want to do soonish.

Agonizing.... I have $400 in Amazon gift cards ready to be spent but but waiting for HMCC. =/

GO GO GO GO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got mine early because I needed to trade some stuff in to Amazon and I didn't want it to lose any more value than it already did. Hell, they were gonna give me about $50 for my 360 Elite a few months ago and it got changed to $4. Good times.

Also I wanted to check out Forza and Destiny.

Oh man. The memories... my friends and I called this "Suicide Joe." We'd trade off, each trying to outdo the other before we were inevitably blown up. Every so often, though, something would just click, and somebody would go on a one-man rampage while everyone else just sat there cheering. Good times.

Interestingly this doesn't work in Halo 2, where one death on Legendary loads a checkpoint. In other Halos, you need to activate Iron Skull to make the game load checkpoint in co-op upon one death.
I preferred this behavior to be default rather than requiring Iron Skull.

Oddly, Halo 2 Iron Skull causes the same effect even though it is already default behavior... perhaps the effect wasn't supposed to be on Halo 2 Legendary without Iron Skull?

Doesn't the Halo 2 Iron skull only affect single player, making the player restart on every death?

That is the function of Iron Skull in other Halos. Can't recall what the skull does in Halo 2 single player, if any effect.

EDIT Uh, is Halo 2 Vista still playable despite GFWL shutdown? I'm thinking i will test the skull...

Is it likely they might bring out more H2A maps as DLC? Seems like it would be a missed opportunity for them if they didn't.

They haven't said anything.
I reckon it is a possibility but they may be concentrating fully on Halo 5.
Perhaps it also depends on how popular the mode will be?

That makes me wonder how the skulls will work in H2A. Will Iron go back to it's Halo 2 state or will it be changed to how it is in the rest of the series?

Oh right. The whole collection has like 30 skulls, are these across the game or are some game specific?
(I hope they work on all games and one is invulnerability. Would help with launching glitches...)

That ruined Halo 2 coop for me. Always played through the games with my brother on legendary, but he would die so much that having it restart the checkpoint every time made it unbearably frustrating. Terrible decision forcing that on people, I really hope it gets changed.

I just meant it might not actually affect co-op.

And yes, it works perfectly. GFWL isn't actually shutting down, but even if it was you could play offline.

Yeah, I don't get why so many say, oh, the MCC won't sell as well etc. Why did people even buy Xbox One's if not for Halo? (yes, I know, Gears, Forza blah blah) but this generation, most obviously chose the more expensive and yet weaker Xbox One, because they clearly must be fans of the games that are exclusive, chief among them Halo.

I know 3 people in real life who already went and got Xbox One consoles and pre-ordered the MCC and at least a dozen, myself included, waiting near November to see what kind of bundles, sales, or deals there are with this game.

I see.

Eh, it isn't shutting down? Man... what the heck did they do then? Really confusing.

Most of GFWL has been shut down. The storefront has been gone for around a year. You can still sign in and play Halo 2 though since Microsoft has given it several reprieves. It's essentially the only part of GFWL still standing.

Not crazy in the slightest. It'll sell a ton for MS.

not really. I do hope that Halo: Reach (with the Anniversary map pack) is added as DLC later on though. Won't be surprised if it doesn't happen however.
I love Reach and would love to play it 1080p/60fps - same goes for ODST. So DLC and rolling them into the Unified Interface would be ideal. Firefight matchmaking across ODST and Reach would be sweet. As well as Reach maps adding to the 100+ the collection already has.

I think they just turned on the Iron skull for Legendary by default because people were using the suicide tactic and then claiming they'd beaten Halo on Legendary. So for Halo 2 if you beat the game on Legendary, solo or co-op, you really had to beat the game. Obviously there was a backlash to that, so they made it optional in Halo 3.

If it had been the default in Halo 3, four player co-op would have been hell.

It's typical, really; we get four Halo games in one package and the Halo community gets the idea that we ought to have entire games as DLC. Give a person an inch and they want a mile.

Yes. Microsoft should be praised for selling us games they already sold to us before. That they almost let the online for half of the games in the collection shut down because they probably assumed 'go buy the MCC' would be a legitimate answer to existing customers.

Stupid Halo community expecting greatness instead of 'eh good enough'. Fuckin' entitled fucks, all of them.

It's not actually so far fetched; apparently, they're considering working Halo 5 into the unified UI in the future. I could see them eventually bringing Reach over and sliding it in. I'd pay 20 bucks for it.

It's not crazy, I bought the xbone just for the MCC, its too good a collection not to play.
