Here's a question for Frankie or anyone else in the know: Has 343 updated the animations in Halo: Combat Evolved to properly run at 60fps rather than 30fps? That was always something that bugged me about Halo PC at 60fps. Vehicles and bipeds never looked right and it even forced one friend I know to have it set to 30fps because it bugged him so much.

Never played Halo before, and am definitely looking forword to this collection! But I was taking a look at those screens and theres something that got my curiosity... do this game have co-op for the campaing?

If the answer is yes, I'm double hyped!!

All Halo campaigns support 2 player splitscreen locally, and with the MCC, all Halos support at least 2 player online co-op (Halo 3 and 4 have 4 player co-op).

Yes, why wouldn't it?

God damn!! I want this game now!! T-T
I never knew about that! Thought the multiplayer was only competitive!

Holy shit! Before this knews this was my 2nd most expected game for this year (just behind Forza H. 2) now jumped right to the 1st place! I want to play some co-op there!!

It's Halo. Yes, it does. The screenshots you quoted show that it does.

As I said I've never played Halo before. I thought that maybe those missions were separete from the game campaing (like the co-op missions on Uncharted for example). I'm really surprised!

Halo 4 has Spartan Ops, a sort of campaign consisting 50 short missions (though they re-use the same maps so they're not unique), all playable in co-op, two players locally max, up to 4 players online (IMO Spartan Ops is just unfortunately rather bad).

Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach (neither is included in the MCC) offered Firefight mode, a co-op survival mode.

Co-op has always been a big thing in Halos.

Halo has had co-op for the campaigns since the first game, hell even the RTS spin off had co-op. I still remember when the internet lost its shit when it was announced in 07 that Halo 3 would not only have online co-op, but 4 player online co-op.
Halo CE and 2 had co-op but it wasn't online, they added online co-op in the Halo CE remake(which is in the package) and they are adding online to the Halo 2 remake in this package as well.

Halo 4 has Co-op for its campaign and a second co-op based campaign as well, it's called Spartan Ops.
It's terrible with the exception of a few missions.

LoL! I was just a ignorant on that "Xbox" world for what I can see!
Damn... I'm glad now! Even thinking about buying another Xone pad later this year now. I mean, not only co-op campaing, but both online and local, thats really great "news" for me! I prefer a co-op experience much more then competitive afterall. =)

The new H2 cut-scenes look jaw-dropping! I'm soo getting this. I'm hoping in time H3 and 4 will also have some kind of anniversary treatment.

Those would go to 2017 and 2022 respectively. I doubt those will happen, partially because newer games don't benefit as much from facelifting (Halo 3 could use better textures and better quality models and audio but otherwise there isn't much you can do, and even less for Halo 4).
EDIT and the MCC H3/4 are not getting any enhancements over higher resolution and framerate as far as i'm aware. Some talk about better lighting for Halo 4 but not sure about that.

You guys must be the eggheads that i kept hearing about in spartan ops. I kid, I kid.

Spartan ops is fine if you just want some fairly pointless enemy encounters with some crazy not exactly compelling story breaks.

I found the story pretty good, especially if you just binge-watch the cutscenes. Not the most brilliant plot in the world, but more interesting than any number of full games I've played.

I think all Halo campaigns work via system link (or LAN or whatever it is called nowadays for consoles) too, not just online.

Thats also good to hear! Well, I can see that its really a big feature of the game then (so much co-op options afterall). The only bad thing about that news, is that now I'm too excited and wait till december to play it will be harder!

The reason for my excitement, its because may have years that I dont see a big game like that with decent local co-op. Most of games actually just have co-op online, and even like that, not a campaing, just co-op missions and stuff. I'm glad to see that Halo does have a trully decent co-op experience both local and online!

Felt like press this button, shoot these dudes, and here is some random cutscene while Palmer calls everyone eggheads.

You are right that it is better story than some games I have played but thats not exactly a high bar.

Don't think about that too much. I'm not 100% sure about system link campaigns. Logically there should not be anything preventing it... Provided you can actually link two Xbox Ones without requiring online connection. Can you? I don't know.
System link campaign works in 360 Halos at least.

There is no official PC announcement. And even if the MCC is coming to PC, i very much doubt MS will say anything until well after the console release (they're trying to move Xboxes, not trying to get people to play on PCs).
So don't assume there is a PC version because some site lists it, probably a placeholder just in-case, miscommunication, wrong assumption or whatever else.

I can't really! But a split-screen co-op with a friend may be a blast! Online co-op at the campaing may be pretty good aswell! =P

I wonder how online co-op will be handled for the MCC. On 360, you need to live pretty close to your friend or there will be quite a bit of input lag in online campaign (the game's AI requires synchronous networking for campaign, which means even a little latency is noticeable).
Dunno if the campaign is played on dedicated servers, or even if that helps. Need Fyrewulf here...

I do believe that this will show up later on PC. But as already stated, it wont happen now. Halo is a system seller, and even Halo MCC being a remake it sure will have some good impact on the console. Would not be smart for them to announce a PC version before at least one year after release.

Oh, I hope thats not a problem with Halo: MCC. If they use their Azure servers on it, it may be unlikely... or not?

The Halo campaigns are great and super replayable too. It's just a shame that none of the games in TMCC have firefight.

I don't like the story of Spartan Ops, I honestly think it's the worst Halo story there is. I hate the characters, I hate the writing, it ignores established canon like energy shields, it treats elites like they are idiots and that ending was just... terrible.

I found the characters enjoyable, it followed canon pretty well (although it did cover a lot of new ground), the elites were supposed to be loose cannon religious fanatics, and I actually really liked the ending. So YMMV.

It didn't follow the canon well at all, according to SpOps the elites don't have shields and can die from a single bullet. Also there is a pretty big difference between "loose cannon" and "Hur dur".

One armed Covenant Halsey sure was a great addition to the universe!

Out of all the shit that happened to Halo lore in Halo 4, the Halsey hate / maiming is the least of my concerns. I couldn't care less about the Forerunners and the Didact, and I'm really disappointed that all that mess was introduced to the in-game fiction. It sounds like we'll be seeing plenty more of them, but it also sounds like 343 is working on developing some interesting story archs with the UNSC and Covenant, so I'm hopeful that it'll feel somewhat relevant to the Halo lore that I appreciate.

CoD Ghosts Xbox one has system link.

This could mean good things indeed...

2 sales from me if it comes to PC.

Won't happen. I'd certainly double dip though without a thought.

See I'm the opposite. The Forerunner stuff actually wasn't that bad I thought. After all it was just 1 Forerunner who apparently was driven mad with hatred and his wife. Even then the story there was interesting. Forerunner wise my problems with 4 were the Designs and not even the full designs. The AI was also not that good with them. Those were my biggest complaints forerunner wise.

Halsey though they managed to turn from an interesting character into a straight up comical bitch. They've gone out of their way to shit all over her since 343 took over. Sure Halsey wasn't a saint but she wasn't straight up evil and "I want revenge" levels of awful. I'm actually glad Johnson and both Keyes are dead. I'd hate to see what they would do to them. Also while talking about Halsey I can't help but mention Palmer. Another character that was awful. I can see what they were going for. It seems like maybe a jocked up ODST type character who happens to be a spartan but she's just awfully written. I'd have actually liked her if she had a Johnson kind of mentality. She can be saved though character wise. Same with Halsey but they have to do a 180 quick with both of them if they are going to. Seems that they've started taking steps to with Palmer too in escalation. She's actually not coming off so awful so far in them.

So still any conformation of when will we see the ranking system? Gamescom is a week away. After after gamescom there is no major event until the release. So its safe to assume everything will be answered there?

IGN still has to have their exclusive stories (sigh) so I'm sure we'll still have questions after gamescom.

I liked Palmer, I genuinely don't get the hate. And while Halsey has unresolved ulterior motives, I didn't perceive her as a straight up evil bitch either. If anything, I'm looking forward to learn more about her motivation.

is this confirmed that they will cover Halo MCC like they did Horizon 2 and Destiny? That would be pretty good.

It's not confirmed, just a guess.

I don't think they would do an IGN first for a remake, but maybe just exclusive rights to a story...or a couple of stories

Pretty much this. Halsey was treated like a psychotic bitch in the Karin Traviss novels, but the games have a much more even-handed view of her. What kind of person would be able to do the things she did? Not a nice one, that's for sure, but at the end of the day she really does care about her Spartans. You could see the hurt when she discovered that nobody had told her John was alive. And as for the ending, we don't know how sincere she was. Revenge is a reasonable motive for someone who just lost an arm to the manipulations of ONI, but on the other hand, she could still just be manipulating the Storm Covenant. Like I said, interesting.

And yeah, the Palmer hate makes no sense to me either.

When the price of the Xbone went down in 2-3 years, that could have gotten me to buy one for that and maybe 3-5 other games, but without ODST, no thanks. That was probably my favorite halo game sans the original (...but really I think I still like ODST more to this day).

ODST is also my favorite Halo. Firefight would have been great with dedicated servers and it would have looked awesome in this collection, but some of its aesthetic will at least be seen in during the Mombasa levels of H2A. I still have my 360 too.
