Coming close to finishing my play through of EarthBound on my Wii U. I really want Ness revealed soon. And considering we've been seeing a lot of content people have been clamping for the past couple of years, I'm confident Saturn Valley will be a stage this time around.
Close to finishing Mother 3 myself haha. Now I really want to see one of the Mother kids.

If Lucas gets cut I'd be sad. :(

Ya'll suck. I got it all the time. You gotta EARN IT DUDES.

Admittedly, I stopped playing multiplayer shortly after the game came out, and I never 100%ed single player. Parts of it are too hard for me, especially at level 7+, so I never got great weapons.

Yeah, plus half of that stuff is just a waste of time. I love the game, but let's be real, getting 100% is basically just throwing away hours.

It is a game I want to eventually 100% on, but I just... need to learn better ways to do levels? Need better weapons, need to know the best item combos, stuff i'm not really willing to experiment w/ on my own because I don't have the time.

I also don't really understand the weapon combination system and how to make good weapons.

It seems like there's no rhyme or reason as to WHAT stats are kept, and determining which weapon is created is really obtuse to me.
It shows you beforehand what gets carried over though, right?

I just tried to look for how I could combine good weapons with other good weapons over and over to get better stuff. That was probably my favorite part of the game, breeding loot.
I never really managed to get anything great though.

i'd imagine there is a kind of 'genetics' system where points are allocated in accordance to some rock paper scissors algorithm in order to create the child weapon with dominant and submissive traits

ill be fucked if i understand it

Yeah, but if I want a specific stat on a weapon, there's no guarantee i'll be able to combine it and keep that stat, i'll have to HOPE it's kept for all of the possible combinations. It may transfer that stat w/ one combo, but not the other, it's weird.

Use weapons you like for the most part and fuse weaker weapons to make better ones.

Here's something to get you started https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q48zLkB3QzE

For getting specific weapons use a weapon calculator https://913dbe2aaa63375a4ef43ade06d...W6bNGxCdjFoN2NkQlU/KidIcarusUprisingTools.htm

that will help you know what happens when you fuse A with B so you can build towards whatever weapon you want.

Also, think about what fits your style. My favorite weapons are claws and staffs, so when I use a claw I try to go for as many stars in the melee as I can get while still having abilities I like. Like say freeze. I love that. With my staff weapons I'll try to do the inverse and get as many stars with range as possible, and still get abilities I may want.

I like the bow just because my best weapon was a silver bow I got, so I learned to use it, but it's way too well-rounded sometimes. I think, for me anyway, the best way to beat stages on higher difficulty is taking it slow and easy, so a staff might work for that. Also, I like the clubs while on land, but I'm really bad w/ them in the air, so for some levels, I can't clear them at lvl 9 w/ clubs.

Game is too hard sometimes!

Good stuff, though! Thanks!

I really wanted to use bows (since it makes so much sense for Pit to use bows!), but it always felt like there was this weird pause every so often when firing them.

I can't remember what I used more... I think claws?

But yeah, that game is brutal on high difficulty. Especially since you can't keep on trying when you fail.

Edit: Speaking of Uprising, was there ever any point to the donation thing? The game literally told you that it did nothing, but I still always wondered if there would be some small easter egg or something from it.

I've cleared... I think everything 6 and above, w/ about 5 stages at 9. Most stages are cleared at 7, with a few 8s. Some are just way too hard for me. I'm also afraid to go online anymore, since i'm sure my claw + bumblebee + petrify combo isn't that great anymore.

I didn't 100% the game, but I knew i'd be able to. I figured out how to do what I needed to, just didn't do it all lol. For instance, clubs can reflect projectile in the air. Also, when not attacking in the air, you can dodge incoming projectiles way better, so be sure to alternate your attacking with defenses.

When on the ground, make use of whatever weapon you choose. If you make it to the ground with a club remember your stamina is garbage. You can dodge, but don't over due it or you'll become helpless.

Also, bring miracles for healing. Those are invaluable.

Oh yeah, and don't forget your special attacks when in air. If you're at a particularly difficult part where you tend to lose a bunch of health or die often, just obliterate everything on screen with that.

Edit: Here ya go. Use this to know what things combine into

I think I got almost everything done at around 5 or 6. But I know several of the last ones were long enough that I just didn't care that I had a 2 or 3 or whatever.

Weren't there achievements for getting 9s though (and one for all 9s)? I can't imagine being able to get there. I could only finish the first few levels at nine... and then, sometimes just barely.

The last couple percents were just me grinding hours upon hours into multiplayer mode, hoping one of the last two multiplayer-exclusive powers would eventually drop at the end of a match. Luckily multiplayer is fun as hell, but I have to admit I eventually just started playing one-minute local multi matches with bots to try and improve my chances.

And yeah weapon fusion you gotta kind of build the weapon you want in reverse. Look in the massive grid of your hundreds of spare weapons, figure out what weapons combine to create the one you want. Then find out what weapons create THOSE weapons, and so forth, and try to mate the weapons with the powers/stats you want to carry over to create your desired weapon's ancestors. It's a crap-shoot a lot of the time though. Weapons will never get TOO awesome, so you gotta sometimes take one that has the power you want, and just forge a billion of the one you'd need to forge your awesome one with to get the final one you want, and just check each one. Will this one inherit it? No. Will this one inherit it? No. It's almost like Pokemon breeding.

In the end I rocked two very different weapons. One darkness bow that had an astonishingly long range and horrifying power for its dash/charge shots, where I'd routinely just KO dudes halfway across the map with single shots. I'd pair that one with the homing boost power to make it even more deadly. And the other one was a pair of claws that did great combo damage, but more specifically petrified the enemy so they couldn't escape. Go into battle with a clear strategy that matches your weapon while filling your power inventory with mega lasers to hold and pick off low-health dudes from any distance, and comet powers to nuke dudes nearby, and you will dominate.

Persona fusion is easy crap if you have the chart. (Like the ones in the manuals)

I will never understand weapon fusion.

Yeah, fusing Personas themselves is easy with a chart. I meant skill inheritance; I could never figure out the rules, which made those "fuse this Persona with X skill" requests super-annoying. Trying to get Alice with Megidola or whatever took an eternity of selecting all the Personas, seeing what I'd get, then backing out and doing it over and over until I got the right skill.

Unless skill inheritance is easy crap, too, and I'm just too dumb to figure it out. That's a distinct possibility.

One thing I really loved from Uprising was the grid where you had to fit Powers together... as I think of it, I really loved Stickers in Brawl for the same reason. I love those "squeeze stuff into a set space" mechanics. Too bad it doesn't seem to be returning for Smash 4 - the Equipment would have been the perfect place to reuse it.

...btw, that Kid Icarus 100% doesn't require you to complete the challenge boards. If it DID, boy yes I would have never done it. You just need to complete the power puzzle and figurine gallery I think. And beat the game, and all that.

[Edit] 101%, eh? Is that if you finish the challenge boards or somethin?

Kid icarus too deep! :)

Blah, I see the pattern, but it's blah.

Now that we're getting 'equipment' in smash 4, which seem to be very similar to KI:U weapon stats, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a version (hopefully simpler) of the weapon fusion system in smash.

That seems utterly unnecessary for a game like Smash, but at the same time, I really want it now.

And look at that, a "sell equipment" button. At least coins will be used for something more than the trophy vending machine, I guess.

Should have part 2 of my Comic Con impressions up today. Includes a full break down of my match on stream.

Sorry for the wait, I like writing this during work hours, and Canada just had a long weekend >_>

This is what we're paying you for?!?

Good investment

I didn't even realize that NeoGAF stats actually exists so I might keep my eyes on that.

What was that line of EmCeeGramr's? "Spamming two hundred pages in ten days when nothing happened"?

Something like that.

Looking forward for that!

Hey guys, quick question for you. I just did my first tally up of everyones votes for the Favrorite Character Poll I'm doing and we already have 125 votes, which is crazy! Thanks for all the participation.

However, one issue that I should have anticipated is that, with everyone only choosing one character, there tend to be clumps of characters with the same amount of votes (meaning, I have 3 characters that all have 7 votes, 5 that all have 3, etc.). In order to split the amounts up a bit and also create a more accurate picture who's really the more liked characters are, I was thinking of letting people choose their top three characters instead of just 1.

I was thinking you rank them 1st / 2nd / 3rd and each rank would award a different amount of points. 1st would get 3, 2nd 2, and 3rd 1. I feel like this would help split the groups up and let people represent more of the characters they like. Obviously if you've already voted, I'll set it up where you can send me your second 2 picks and I'll make the necessary point changes to your first pick.

What do you guys think? Does that sound like a good plan?
