Legend of Korra Book 3: Change |OT| SCHEDULEBENDING

Just seen the episode...
HOLY CRAP at Zaheer. When he started the bending i was like "wait what? no.. he wont do it. he cant." and he does it. They show the whole thing, brutal!

I think it would been easy to bring it down with a few decent earthbenders, but the usual citizen would've feared the Dai-Li.

Didn't two Dai Li agents take it down when Azula commanded them to? It's not that hard to do, Ghazan is obviously talented.

Yeah, I just wanted to point out, that the reason nobody took it down yet wasn't because it's very hard, but because there is the danger of being killed for it.

Jeez. That was a great episode. When
Zaheer "took down" (lol) the Earth Queen was something I never expected the show to do. Always hoped it would, but I'm pleasantly surprised they did it and even showed it onscreen. And the Korra-Asami subplot was a bit eh, but it provides some development and gives Asami something to actually do, so I can't complain too much. The show's biggest problem for me is that it seems to suspend and abandon individual character arcs too often, so at least they're keeping things moving.

This season has been everything I always wanted Korra to be. I'm really hoping Zaheer gets to keep sewing anarchy and overthrowing governments for a while longer. I'd love to see this span into next season. One of the big reasons this show has always had wonky pacing is because they have to wrap things up in just one season. That also makes all the villains seem disposable because there's just gonna be another big baddie next season. There hasn't been room for an over arching plot or room for things to build properly. Now there is. Here's hoping they handle this well.

In retrospect, I kind of wish this was season 1 with Zaheer's plot continuing into season 2. They could have introduced Amon and his equalist movement at that point and had the Team Korra vs Anarchists vs Equalists and the resolution to that power struggle be the goal for the eventual series finale.

Finally caved in a watched episode 10
Great episode
and man what a brutal way to kill off the Earth Queen, the way she was gasping for air was pretty dark (wonder how they managed to convince Nick to let them do something like this).
Great episode for Asami also as she once again shows off her true worth to the avatar Gang, loved also how they showed a bit more of the human side to the other Red Lotus members as the van scene with them and Bolin was great
Zuko and Tonraq seems surprisingly relaxed considered what’s being happening

I mean I'd rather support the show so I guess I'll wait until it's up on nick or amazon.

Good things its only about a day till they release the new episode, so not too long to wait
But I feel this may be the norm for the remaining episodes as so for since it moved to be online only both episodes have been leaked early and Nick doesn't seem to be doing anything about these leaks, Heck they even put up a massive spoiler themselves

If this continues to be the trend then I'll probably cave in.

I'm still waiting until Saturday morning to watch.

Because of our different work schedules I still get up at 6 am on Saturdays (despite only working M-F) and my wife typically gets up around 8 am (again, despite only working M-F). This is lucky because she hasn't seen the first two Books of Korra yet, we only just finished ATLA a couple of months ago. Not being a cartoon watcher she wanted to take a break between finishing ATLA and starting Korra. So I don't have to worry about her seeing spoilers. Plus, I had her block all Korra - related tags on her tumblr because people have no sense of decorum on that site.

These leaks really ruin this thread. The digital release last week already made it more difficult. Going to be weird posting thoughts on this 30 + hours after a large amount of people here already saw the episode and discussed it already.

Nick is really the worst.

How do you think I feel. I'm still waiting for iTunes.

Geez. I came here to broach a discussion point raised by Republic City Dispatch, but like really, nick? I'm @work so I can't even if I wanted to.

I think we shouldn't allow discussion of leaked episodes or plot points at all in this thread. It's too much of of a minefield.

That was pretty friggin good.

Again, I'm surprised at how high quality these episodes have been in comparison to Season 2 or even Season 1. I won't go into specifics just because I would hate to have things spoiled for me if I hadn't watched the episode yet like many other people in the thread, especially since the episode comes out tomorrow.

Sort of ironic that this season has been a complete clusterfuck with the leaks and airing changes since the Red Lotus is all about disorder being the natural order.

Meta show. The last episode will be Team Korra stepping through a portal into another world and turning into Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino and their people.

The leak is much higher quality than the Nick Mundo leaks earlier this season. I actually caved in and just watched it (because of the quality was just as good as the stream on Nick.com). Still, feel kind of deflated with discussing the episode and will hold off.

But it's really really good. Has one of the best moments in the series IMO. This season is shaping up to be on the overall level of ATLA (even if there are still little flaws here and there to the writing).

God freaking damn that was something I never expected to see out of Avatar.

For multiple reasons. I remember 'sucking the air out of someone' being a very big possibility that people always said about airbending but considering that 1) there was only one airbender in the original show 2) all airbenders were peace-keeping monks and 3) the very nature of the kind of show it is (ie "Kid Friendly") to finally see something like this is incredible.

One
Fuck that thing, in the sand it was a dick

Two
Asami being a cool girl

three
I'm down with this destabilization terrorist thing this time round. " Taking out " still weird instead of murder

That episode was great. Ep 10 Spoiler
They was pretty damn brutal, but I really hope she is actually dead. I know they have to skirt around saying "killed" but this time I'm a bit nervous that he didn't actually kill her. I hope I'm wrong though, because that would kinda ruin everything.

Wait, could someone give me a quick recap for what just happened? Someone had told me that Episode 10 was just leaked, and people are going bonkers in the social media spaces.

They should just release all the rest of the season at this point.

Wow looking at the amount of viewers is brutal. Tops 4mil in season 1 and gradually lowered to 1mil this season. Unfortunate because this season has been so much better too.

Well, that is what happened.
In the greater context there is Nick's scummyness with this season. They leaked someone episodes 3-5 before and screwed with the show all around. Changing timeslots, showing two new episodes in one day once and pulling the show from the tv and make it online only. So this is only the latest crap from Nick regarding Korra.

Yeah, I wish they would have just released the final 4 episodes digitally at the same time. And those that don't want to pay, could just watch them all on Nick.com with ads. I really see no benefit to them having it be a week by week release.

Episode leaked because Nick is run by baboons. If you're determined to find it, you'll find it.

Ep 10 Recap Spoilers:
Korra and Asami break out, crash the airship in the desert.

Red Lotus take Bolin and Mako to Earth Queen, offer them and info on Airbenders in exchange for Korra

Plan goes awry, Zaheer confronts Earth Queen, bends the air out of her lungs, killing(?) her. They introduce anarchy

Korra and Asami get out of the desert, meet up with Zuko, Lin, and Tonraq.

Well, I live in Canada, so it's unlikely that I can watch it on their website. I can't even get access to Amazon.com to purchase the episodes, as I keep getting sent back to the main page. :/

Regarding Earthqueen:
Maybe they go the worse route. Maybe Zaheer didn't kill her, but waited long enough until her brain shuts down and now have a living, but braindead queen lying somewhere, slowly dying while nobody cares for her.

I haven't seen the episode yet, so it could already be disproven, just sayn.

If they didn't killer her, it would be the biggest cop out ever, and would be terrible writing. IMO she's dead, they just didn't show her final gasp of breath, as the actual death itself is too much. ATLA had Jet die, and did something similar (with him dying off screen). The scene would lose all of its power, and Zaheer would be severely undercut.

I fucking hope this is the case, because it would pretty much singlehandedly undo all my love for this season.

Any chance of this season ending on a down-beat? "Venom of the Red Lotus" makes it sound like some not-good shit is gonna go down.

I would love it if
the ending was down beat + it carried directly over into the next season. So there is no resolution, and it ends with despair. But I really really fear that this season will wrap up with resolution. =/ At the very least, I think the title infers that, even if the plot gets resolved, there will be ramifications of their actions. I think that might be that, Korra can't stop revolution and various nations going through change with regards to their government/society. For better or for worse, the venom of the Red Lotus has started to spread.

I haven't watched the episode yet, but judging from that gif, the thing that Zaheer does
was something I've always wondered if airbenders could do, but perhaps it would be too violent to have on a kids show. I'm surprised they got away with it.

This is the latest tragedy in the world.

Where were you when Nickelodeon gave up on Korra?Did it make you feel like crying? When you see them ratings fall?

Real talk. Netflix needs to snatch this up like they did with AD and The Killing.
I don't care that it's not cancelled yet.

Sadly, Nick rarely sells IP. And also, even if Nick were to sell it, I kind of doubt the creators want anything to do with the Avatar world. They probably want to move on to other projects. I'm not saying they wouldn't ever want to return, but I just don't see the Avatar franchise being revived anytime soon. I guess we can be happy that Book 3 was fuckin amazing (and we have 3 episodes left) + one final season of 13 episodes.
