PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Software sales did seem pretty awful considering 80 MILLION hardware sales. I seriously doubt it's SW sales were in line with other consoles of similar HW figures.

If you're comparing it to consoles, yeah. But PSP is a handheld, and by handheld standards PSP software sales weren't bad at all. It has about the same tie ratio as GB and GBA, better than 3DS and worse than DS

Hadn't thought of it that way--I guess the DS is a pretty big anomaly in the portable space. Man, portables are hard to compare.

UKVitaGAF: I have a card copy of Child of Light (it's the turbo edition, but the codes are used) - does anyone wanna give me anything for it? Game/CEX/Amazon don't have trade-in options for it!

Tie ratio is: DS 6,13 > GBA 4,63 > PSP 4,32 > GB 4,22 > 3DS 3,88

3DS is catching up a bit, I remember it was much lower. Not surprising as hardware sales fell off a cliff in the last months.

DS' tie ratio is still very low by console standards, but it's very high by handheld standards. Games who appealed the casual crowd had pretty monstrous sales.

What's the lowest price Rogue Legacy has been? $13 something with the "preorder discount"?

Chances it will see any sort of decent sale before mid-September are probably pretty low, huh?

Speaking of newer games:
Can someone fill me in -- I've been on residency over in SteamGAF and have been using my Vita to grind out the evil Rayman Legends platinum.... so can someone fill me in on some of the more notable titles to have released in the past couple months? I remember SSD had a stealth launch and VitaGAF loved it but I still think it's an overpriced expansion.... so if that's a reference point... since, May, maybe?

Yeah. I'd guess it won't start getting discounted till around November/December.

3D platformers is among my favorite genres, so I hope so. The game looks nice

Yup, we definitely need more of them.

Is this new? Arcana Heart 3's releasing on September 23rd

So piracy is actually good for the vita, and not affected the PSP? LOL
There's a difference between being affected by piracy (not that the other piratable consoles weren't affected as well) and dying because of piracy, which is what a lot of people think happened to PSP

Software sales plummeted when piracy became commonplace on the PSP. Publishers stopped supporting it left and right. Saying that it was just a minor hiccup or one of the PSP problems, and not the decisive factor that software sales went to shit is the single greatest piece of revisionism history that I saw here on gaf,

Just saw the trailer for The Last Tinker on the PS Blog. Looks really cool. Hope we start to see a 3D platformer resurgence (and that it reaches Vita as well).
This has massive potential to be a great 3D platformer, on top of that it's coming out this year.
And it's on Unity so there's hope for a eventual Vita version.

I've missed 3D platformers, after so many in the PS2 era it's sad to see so little of them now.

No revisionism, I'm fighting those false myths since the PSP days itself :)

Guys I think Flandy's trying to get me banned. So if I disappear blame him.

And then play Rogue Legacy and The Swapper because they're really good.

It's already dead without piracy.
Maybe people would actually buy it if it could be hacked and repurposed.
Besides, when they had the beta of application development, someone made remote play for Steam. If the platform was opened up by hackers, that sort of application could and probably would be developed. :P

haha, doesn't matter if it's stocked or not. already dead here in the states.

Remote Play with Steam games = <3

Already played both... on my PC. And The Swapper cost me like $1, not $20. :P

And that's my current problem with my Vita. Would I love to have a portable version of Rogue Legacy? Sure. But why would I pay $17 or whatever when I already own it on PC and it's been on sale there for less than $5 on a regular basis...

it's worth paying more again to play it on the Vita
and no, it's not hyperbole

sigh I wanna play CRAWL on Vita
any news on that?

I dunno about that.
Depending on price, if it's not extortion levels, I will buy Risk of Rain immediately at release.
But Rogue Legacy? I was bored when I hit NG+ and haven't gone back recently.

As far as Crawl? That game has fantastic art and animation... but they dropped the ball as it's a local MP game... so I don't even think it makes sense on a portable unless they miraculously add online MP... and the Steam page basically says "don't hold your breath for this one... wait until we add it before you buy."

I see Team Chie's appeared to show who the best P4G waifu is.It feels like we go through this every few months.
Probably because we do

Try every month. Sometimes twice. At least now that I've played the game, I know who they're talking about.
Kanji is best girl.

A question about FEZ:

Just started the game yesterday on PS4. really enjoying it so far.
Soooo.... I just wanted to continue it on my Vita and realized: "ah shit! There is a special save file for cross save?! DAMM!"

Searched for an option to copy my save to the cross save-file and couldn't find anything.

I've continued via remote play, but am I fucked when I'm away from home or is there an option to copy my file over to cross save?

Save Management -> Copy save into cross-save slot

I went to check to see if I could download Hohokum for pre-load and it's in my PS4 library section, but when I click on it, there's a "pre-order" button instead of a download one, and I'm looking on the web store and it too doesn't show that I pre-ordered it. I bought all the four summer games and stuff like Counterspy shows up as having already been pre-ordered, so what's the deal? Anyone have this problem/know how to fix it? Restore license issue?

and it's good to have you back around here man (:

I wish cross save was automatic by default. Sony needs to kick people in the butt when they make this 100% manual.

I'm curious. Where does Vita fit in to this? I imagine Vita having a very high ratio especially if you factor in digital sales.

5pb. will be having a Steins;Gate 5th Anniversary Summer Sale from August 13 to August 27 for their download titles on various platforms. Many of their PS3 and Vita titles like Steins;Gate series, Memories Off series, Disorder 6, Phantom Breaker: Extra, Eiyuu Senki are only 1,000~2,000yen.

On the topic of cross save, can someone explain to me how it works with Rogue Legacy? When it says my data is older than that in the cross save, do I want to click "yes" or "no?"

I don't understand why games that are so cheap on PC are so expensive on the vita when the porting process is done with the push of a button. And why does it take them so long to release them?

I Think that all games that aren't exclusive for the vita should cost less than they do on steam. Lucky for us that we can just wait and eventually get all games for "Free" through PS plus. The only problem with plus as I see it is that we can't sell them to gamestop when we are finishen with them.

As perorist said the porting process is much more involved that a simple one-two-click.

Also don't forget that you're comparing the PC sale price to the full price on PSN (although even then the sale price doesn't exactly compare).
