Their next tweet is more interesting:

Most shirts sold in the 2013/2014 season. [calcionews24]
Rooney: 1,5 million
Cristiano: 1,4m
Messi: 1,4m
Torres: 1m

What child watches Torres miss open goals for Chelsea and wants his name of their shirt? That kid will get bullied in school.

either he has a mass of crazy fan girls, or i think these numbers are BS

calcionews24 is full of shit or this Twitter account did a real shit job at interpreting the original story. Madrid as a TEAM sold 1.4m shirts last season, Ronaldo more than half of them. I would imagine that all of those are for their entire teams and the player is the highest seller per team.

Why get a Torres shirt when you can have one from Chelsea legend Ramires?

I have no idea about shirt sales numbers, but I can confirm that calcionews24 is certainly full of shit. Also it's weird how people seriously talk about shirt sales with signings, clubs really don't make that much of it.

Looking at the CL playoffs, what the fuck is an AaB? Or a Maribor? The league route teams would destroy the champions route teams if they played eachother to go in. Athletic v Napoli and Lille v Porto gonna be good.

This thread...

The season just started and we're already in midseason form!

I am reminiscing with FF about Busquets and I'm laughing at this video. At this part.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6cu_IXfJy0#t=32

Reina literally crushes Fabregas. You can tell for some unknown reason that Cesc thinks he is going to say his name. And then when he mentions "The Snowplough of Badia, The octopus of Badia." you just see Cesc have this realisation... that he isn't from Badia.

Richards and Shaun Wright Phillips had the potential to be great IMO.

Stuart Pearce came out yesterday and said that City sold SWP because they were almost bankrupt at that point. Had sold a lot of non-player assets at that point but selling him was necessary to keep the team afloat.

Richards took that knock while playing in the Olympics and has just been an utter shitshow since. Not even a shadow of the player he was in 11/12 when he and Zaba split so much time. Very sad to be honest.

I didn't say that. But lets count, who else? Are we going to count players, who were young, but also came for (at the time) crazy money like Rooney? Or the great Evans who (i think?) is from the United academy?

Rooney was 18 at transfer, has MU not helped in his development? Should he have been loaned out to WBA like Lukaku instead?

Fernando ain't Fernandinho, friend. Fernando is the one who has the nickname "The Octopus." He got the nickname for shutting down United in a Champions League match for Porto.

Hahaha did not realise. Saw the mention of Octopus, man city, 'fernand' and just went ahead with my assumption.

I apologise for the inconvenience.

It's not just an English player thing anyway. City and Chelsea don't seem to want to use their academy at all. Which is weird especially in the case of Chelsea because they have a very very good one.

Do they still? I don't think Roman or Mourinho particularly care about the academy.

Actually would be interesting to know how many players Mourinho has brought up from the club's academy in all his stints since Porto days.

I heard something about Pearce saying he saved the club from bankruptcy yesterday, but I didn't realise it had anything to do with selling SWP.

In regards to Richards, it is a real shame. He should move on, and try to make something of his career.

That is kind of the point of seperating them, making it easier for the actual champions, to get through in the Champions league. Aab is from Aalborg in Denmark. They played in CL a few years ago and did alright, I remember them beating Celtic and drawing against United and such, they ended up on the third spot over Celtic and went through to Europa League afterwards. Fairly talented team right now, a lot of young players.

Maribor is where the great ilicic came from!

No Rooney did well, he's also 28 at this point, it's a long fucking time ago he was young and broke through, are we going to count John Terry as well? lol. What young English players in recent time has broken through and raised the level of United? At least Lukaku was loaned out and sold at a profit, could have gone for free like Pogba because you couldn't bother using him.

It's been getting better, over the last few years they've done very well. They have alot of talent in their youth ranks.

There was some of stat posted here a while back about the lack of young Chelsea players who have had a starts/debuts lately. Can't remember it but yeah basically almost nobody.

At the end of the day it's just the choice of the club and the management though. Chelsea aren't that interested in promoting players from the youth ranks. That's up to them. Fair enough really. Other clubs are and they are proud of it. Also fair enough.

You know how us United fans here for the most part love the hate we get and thrive off it?

This fucking Miami thread in OT is fueling me to the point where I feel like I got super anti-hater powers.

The amount of NaCl and hyperbole pouring out is god-like.

It was ridiculous how much heat* Miami got when they were playing Dallas in the finals. If I remember correctly, several coaches called Dallas to give them advice. I just don't get the hate for them. Now the Lakers or the Knicks, that's more understandable I guess, although at this point the Knicks probably deserve pity instead of hate.

*Sorry. I'm so sorry for this pun.

Second half really fizzled out here. Cardiff look piss poor. Without Jones up top can't keep the ball, don't get what Ole is trying for

Neither do 97% of Cardiff fans, either.

Still, a point away to a decent Blackburn team is nothing to be sniffed at. Anything less than 3 points in our next game and it'll all kick-off, though...

Solid point aye, I'd take a point tomorrow in our game but Le Fondre on the right was a bizarre starter.

Had a look at your fixtures and they are right dog. Hudders, Wigan, Wolves, Fulham, Norwich

Ouchie

A City fan mocking Miami bandwagoners...

Just kidding, I know there's quite a few long-time City fans, like Liam Gallagher. I'm happy for them. They probably had to endure United's mockery for decades.

Oh I know the reasoning but I still hate it. I want to see the cream of the crop of European (and let's be honest, world) football in the CL groups, not some charity spots for teams who I have to wiki to know where they're from.

Dat Karl Urban. 😍
Dredd was great. Watched it again. I want another one.

The truth never gets old. He's not anything near to the level United players should have, if he wasn't English and from Manchester he would have been thrown out a long time ago.

To the rest of your post, I really don't care about their nationality. I think it's silly to Imply young English players has a lesser chance than young foreign players at Chelsea and City, it's the talent and their mentality that isn't right, a bunch of quitters without the hunger for success as many of those players growing up poor without much hope for the future other than football. Englands national team can crash and burn for all I care though, it's great fun.

Fucking coaching system sucks. Too little amount of coaches. These young buggers need ruthless authority figures like Conte and Klopp in their lives.

I like to see the actual champions of each league getting a little more priority, think a good balance has been reached. Especially as many underdogs in recent years has been positive surprises.

and to starve in the streets, with football being their only hope. It's the only way. These days they can just go out and riot, and steal bags of basmati rice if they feel like it.

I'm loving every post thats anti-Miami in there.

It's just funny how everyone points the finger at Miami when almost EVERY city does what Miami does.

LAL attendance down LAC attendance up? Shocking.

Cleveland attendance after Lebron left? Laughable.

Buying Chips? Yankee fans.

If only Chelsea had the morality to let trash like Cleverley and Welbeck play at Chelsea, just because they had been at the club since they were young. The worst that will happen is they get loaned out for a couple of years to play, and then if not good enough sold... Or turn into Courtois like quality and still play for Chelsea.
TGNz0rC.png

Play Welbeck as opposed to Torres and Demba Ba ? Yes please.

Not to mention their options have included Sturridge and Lakaku.

Cheap Tesco brand? Please. At least walk out with a bag of Tilda. 😒

Buying someone from Everton when he is 20 doesn't mean you developed him.

A player still learns and develops well after the age of 25, so you might as well consider every signing under 25 a prospect that will develop under your team.

Acting like manutd have a la masia m8.

In their whole youth academy manutd had only Adnan who was worth anyone's time. The rest are cleverly level, if not worse.

You could say manutd developed Pogba though. :)

We got them both at 16 - don't really count.

Alot of a players development is done way before that, technically for sure.

Yeah, the nonsense some radio hosts were showing when Real Madrid announced the shirt sales meant the club would have had to make €100 odd a shirt!

Oh no doubt, fans in America are particularly fickle. The Bucs attendance has plummeted in the years since we won the SB since we've been so bad for many of them. I mostly just feel for the Marlins. Pretty much every team with the exception of 3 or 4 would KILL to have won two titles in less than 20 years and yet the Marlins get like 20k a game with no signs of improvement. They deserve better. :(

Canes fans though.. oh god, just the worst.

Cissokho is strange

When he wasn't playing every game, he was reasonably solid

Don't expect anything from him going forward though, his crossing and ball control is dismal. In fact, his ball control is so bad that it prevents him from being able to use any of his pace, since he can't sprint and control the ball at the same time. And since his first touch is so bad, if you're counterattacking and the ball goes to him in space, it will go back to midfield as his first touch is used to try and stop the ball, rather than to push it into space to carry on the counter

To be honest a bit of solidness at the back would do us just fine.

Interestingly Lambert has had us play 3-5-2 most of pre season versus 4-2-2-2 last pre season and 4-3-3 the pre season before. I sure hope it gets us playing better, last season we were dismal and very one dimensional.

Dredd was great. Watched it again. I want another one.

Dredd has got to be the biggest film surprise for me in a long time, went in expecting a complete turd on account of the all the stories about it's filming issues + the "3D" and got blown away.

I need to watch more movies with such low expectations.

As far as I know, Lukaku wasn't English.... But if we are going to include them in the young player debate, lol Pogba. United gave him away for free, to exactly play the kind of English trash like Cleverley instead. Maybe the foreign player should have been first in line there.

Rooney was mentioned. So I just took Rooney and compared him to Lukaku. I am not saying he is a Man U product.

Can you blame the Marlins fans after what the front office continues to do? Stanton to the Dodgers in the next 2 years for sure.

Canes fans, well I'm not gonna comment because I can pick out the worst Gator and Nole fan and its on par with the worst Cane fan.

The simple fact of the matter is we don't define ourselves by our suffering because we live in a bomb-ass city. The Northerners who talk so much shit about us run away like rats from a sinking ship to come to our city during winter or worse, permanently. Because when it's December and they're shoveling snow from their driveways, we're walking outside in shorts and flip-flops. Because when they're stuck inside in the cold with their fat ugly women, we just have to attend a college class or go to a bar to have women who look as good as the the chicks they fap to and fantasize about. Because every decade or so, we have historically great teams in a sport. Because we can wake up, do boating and/or other water activities in our beautiful waters, go to a game in the afternoon, then to a club at night IN THE SAME DAY whereas just one of those is a major highlight in their boring cities.
