New & Exclusive MGS Merchandise at Gamescom!

As if news of the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain preview show at Gamescom on August 13th wasn’t exciting enough, MGS fans attending the convention will be in with a chance of getting their hands on never seen before MGSV merchandise!

The preview show will feature the latest information about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid title as well as an exclusive Q & A session with series creator, Hideo Kojima. Alongside this we are offering a special merchandise booth where fans can purchase (or, at the very least, drool over) a range of MGS items including the new Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Snake figurine. Collectors rejoice!

The full range of MGS merchandise will be available at our booth, located in Hall 10.1 booth #D-030, but Gamescom 2014 guests will be able to purchase items from the new range ahead of the convention (whilst stocks last). That way those of you with tickets for the recently announced signing session will have plenty of time to decide which item you want immortalised by the legendary signature of Hideo Kojima.

The good news doesn’t stop there, though! We’re delighted to announce that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been nominated for IGN’s user voted People’s Choice Award. Voting goes live on Wednesday the 13th August at 9am GMT and closes 9am Monday the 18th. Details on how to vote will be released shortly. In the meantime, make sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled as we’ll be running a series of offers and competitions during Gamescom 2014.

Are you heading down to Cologne for Gamescom 2014? Do you have a favourite piece of MGS merchandise you want signed by Hideo Kojima?

Meet Hideo Kojima: Preview show signing session.

If you were thinking nothing could top last week’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain preview show announcement…you’d be wrong! We’re pushing the boat out even further by hosting an exclusive autograph signing session with Metal Gear creator & producer Hideo Kojima directly after the show finishes.

The signing session is strictly tickets-only and you can get your hands on one by ensuring that you’re one of the first 100 people in the queue outside Cologne’s musical dome before the Gamescom 2014 event on August 13th. Or…if queuing isn’t your style then we’ll be giving tickets away on the Konami Europe Twitter and Facebook channels in the run up to the event so keep your eyes peeled.

Furthermore, our wonderful European community manager @ParodiSu will be outside the venue from 18:30 UTC running live competitions with tickets for the signing up for grabs. This means that even if you can’t quite make the front of the queue, you could still find yourself face to face with the legendary game creator after the event.

I wonder why they're saying you can get the items ahead of the convention if you go to their preview event. Apparently, there's a seperate merchandise booth in the musical dome (?) but that will only open around 6PM.

Or wait... are they just saying that because the 13th is press day and Gamescom won't be open for public until the 14th? That's not true anyway. Loads of people already go on press day. Thousands of regular visitors.

Man, that musical dome is like a 30 minute walk from GC.

Even if I win tickets for the signing session, I have no idea if and how I'll get there :P

Dawg joining Team D?! It can't be!

No, my defection to team D was a ruse set up by the Diamond Dawgs. It was all a big drama staged by my commander so they could get their hands on the Doge's Legacy, and I was the star of the show. They planned it so that they could get the Legacy that team D inherited and destroy the team from within at the same time. Finding out where the Doge's Legacy was hidden was to be my greatest mission. Everything was going according to plan... but then something happened that no one could have predicted. People started taking team D seriously. People were joining it unironically. They couldn't just abort the operation to steal the Legacy, so the operation itself was greatly expanded and revised. The Diamond Dawgs knew that in order to prove this was impossible they'd have to get rid of me and that one of their own would have to do the job. The public couldn't be allowed to find out about it, not ever. This, they concluded, would be the best way to keep the whole thing under wraps. I wouldn't be allowed to come back home alive. And I wouldn't be allowed to kill myself. My life would be ended by my most beloved husbando... that was the way the Diamond Dawgs wanted it. That was the mission I was given. And I had no choice but to carry it out... my death at Sn4ke's hands was a duty I had to fulfill. Out of duty, I turned my back on my own comrades. A lesser doge would have been crushed by such a burden. The taint of disgrace will follow me to my grave. Future generations will revile me: In America, as a despicable traitor with no sense of honor; and in Russia, as a monster who unleashed a nuclear catastrophe. I will go down in official history as a war criminal, and no one will ever understand ME... that was my final mission. And like a true soldier, I saw it through the end.

Team D is just a bunch of crazies.

HIDEO_KOJIMA @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN
It got the tail too!

(The tail part in the conspiracy image was posted weeks ago, in the old thread).

FYI, I don't take team D seriously, but I just realised what Kojima tweeted is so incredibly similar to what those guys made up. It's a huge coincidence and I'm surprised the people who created Big Boss = Gray Fox haven't posted it (?) yet.

Kojima said the horn and "tail" is supposed to be a demon and not a fucking fox.

Oh, so did he talk about the "tail" before? I didn't know that. Then it doesn't matter :p

Yep.

Well, would you mind explaining as to why the game isn't being created on the "Demon Engine?"

:lol

or why is the Kojima Productions logo a fox? should be a demon :P

Kojima_Pro_Logo.png

also why the fuck Foxhound? should be called Demonhound ...the fuck Kojima.

or DemonDie and DemonAlive

I will stop now.

:lol this is great

That said, I want Gray Fox in the game. At least that's possible. Then again, even if he is... I'm pretty sure the VA won't be Greg Eagles and he was part of the reason I liked the character so much in MGS. His voice was unique, he was Gray Fox. When I heard Gray Fox in Twin Snakes (Rob Paulsen), it just wasn't the same...

Gray Fox will be voiced by Kiefer Sutherland!

He'll be in the game - no question!

I'm pretty sure Kojima wishes he didn't kill off Gray Fox and Liquid so early in the franchise. He never knew how big the IP would become.

They talked about the tail before. Honestly you guys don't give them enough credit and focus on the more crazy stuff too much funny stuff is going on im Team A,D.

That was before 2 and 4.
Well yeah but Kojima could still do something interesting with him(Liquid in 2 was definitely weird and interesting at that time)
we actually got a decent background on Ocelot as to why it could work.

Then 4 comes along and throws that all out,
essentially making Liquid a footnote. who was even less important overall than Solidus

Well if I had any cavities, I'd be in luck, because that's a lot of reach.

This screen is titled No shit. It's like this guy didn't want the Star Wars prequels, not that I'd blame him.

This was me watching that:

The main problem is a lot of it hinges on 'Snake' not using blades before MGS3, as the clip where Snake talks about Gray Fox is supposed to be a way to separate the 'bad' guy traits, relentless killer with a blade, from the 'good' guy traits, relentless killer with a gun conscience. I think there is evidence to support that GZ Snake wasn't Big Boss, but Gray Fox is a leap. Just the coma alone would make BB come back mentally unstable, and PTSD on top is all he needs to start dressing like a Kabuki.

You mean the supernatural stuff? I'm glad they didn't go that route. It worked in MGS3 but the whole ghost possession stuff was pushing it for me.

Coincidence?

Coincidence?

Lol yeah, i wonder how many times they used this word in the video.

One of the stupidest parts was when he tried to compare the lyrics of the nuclear song to the events in the MGS series. It's not like Oldfield wrote the song for this game *facepalm*

Ground Zero's Here's to you same thing. I'm sure that song wasn't written for the game or MGS3 ending way to fall. Come one man kojima of all people knows the importance of music to a scene.
