Tried listening to both songs. Made me wonder why we evolved eyelids, and you can withold from breathing through your nose, and you can decline to taste what you don't want to taste, but you can't switch off your sense of feel or hearing.

lol. It's my favorite! They do a lot of very listenable stuff though, like this that almost seems like a james bond soundtrack song... or just slow piano focused songs like this or just down right pop likethis .

I agree with that. The vocals just don't fit. Everything else sounds bloody amazing. Maybe there's a karaoke version of Sunbather out there, lol.

I don't mind the singer, he fits the faster crazier parts well I think. I wouldn't mind an instrumental album from them either, although I'm not sure if it would keep my attention for that long. Pelican and Animals as Leaders already are the masters for me there.

Well yeah screaming and metal go kind of hand in hand. And I don't mind a fair bit of that like Cloud Nothings or Metz for example. These guys scream, but you can also hear what they scream. Deafheaven sounds like some guy is screaming from some direction and he's very angry about something but you're too far away to understand what's it about. Meanwhile you try to listen to some music on your iPod but that angry guy keeps trying to distract you from the music.

I'm not a metalhead (right now i'm listening to Caribou's last album), i like Deafheaven and i LOVE Baroness (Red Album <3), but is funny how hipsters usually don't care about metal bands if Pitchfork don't tells them otherwise.

There's just a certain group of people who listen to what Pitchfork tells them is good. That's not saying much about a whole group of people who like alternative music. But why should metalheads turn against a band in their own genre when an indie blog writes something positive about it. Not that I really mind, but it's what I noticed amongst metalheads at this music forum I frequent.

I personally never care for metal. Though the last Baroness record is the one and only exception. But I would rather classify that as rock, it doesn't sound like metal anymore
