We did well to get £15m for a CB that barely played in the last season and is in the last year of his contract, just hope we take that money and reinvest in another good CB. I like the look of Chambers but we need more depth there.

lol@Chelsea fans trying to downplay their chances. Regardless of depth which you're not exactly lacking except for up front (a pretty big exception tbf), you have the best keeper, defense, defensive midfielder, one of the best centre midfielders, and potentially one of, if not the best striker in the league, the best manager, and the funds to buy in January without coming close to breaking FFP if necessary

Yes.

It's weird to me how other Chelsea fans are downplaying our chances.

It's because they are scared of failure.

liverpool transfer muppetry talk.

apparently we're after a big name to replace suarez

not that the particular void can be filled

I expect we'll end up with Bony after being told to do one by Falcao straight away, and Cavani after a few hours

I'd be happy enough with Bony, even if it'd probably mean playing Sturridge a little wide. Remy would have been so fucking perfect for the setup and the role he'd need to fulfil

You have the better manager and signed the better players in this window. City won't win the league twice in a roll, they don't have it in them.

It's a big deal that. Last time, Marwood ruined the summer and bought players like Javi Garcia, Rodwell and Maicon. However, this time they've bought players who want to win the PL again. Sagna, Fernando, Caballero and Mangala may make up almost half the starting eleven.

Still, it takes so much to do it two years in a row, will be interesting to see how players like Hart, Yaya, Nasri and Dzeko care this season. They were at City last time too though and hopefully learned from it.

Ugh I certainly think Chelsea should be up there with City in the end, but then Chelsea is one injury away from playing with Torres or a 47 year old Drogba. It's not down playing, it's a fact that one injury could ruin the chances pretty badly which makes the squad not good enough yet, need to add another striker.

Personally, I would be thrilled to see Big Name Striker play for Liverpool. Been following his career for awhile now and he is class

1. Chelsea
2. Man City
3. Arsenal
4. Liverpool/Man Utd
5. Man Utd/Liverpool
6. Everton/Spurs
7. Spurs/Everton

Team to disrupt the Top 7 - Newcastle

I believe we will win it and we have a great chance but City do have a better squad then us unless we add in another World Class Striker and probably another DM.

Arsenal must win tomorrow. Rekik, Nastasic and especially Boyata have all been poor all pre-season and Clichy will be forced to play right back. Fernando isn't used to the tactics. There is potential of a horrible defensive display tomorrow.

It's a bit weird to me cos you're comfortable enough with FFP to buy a good striker, and tell Torres to either stop being a fucking leech and move elsewhere, or become the new Winston Bogarde.

Who that striker would be though, happy to be backup in a one-striker system, is beyond me. We have the same dilemma.

We only have Koscielny and Chambers available to play CB.

Could very well be in the same position.

That would have happened last season if we didn't do a boo boo during the January window.

I expect a good first half of the season and then sell one/some of our best players in January and finish 10th again. It's written in the stars.

We have a 19 year old at CB.

Yaya Sanogo is going to be starting.

there's one more name that i have read... not that anything has transpired, just hoping something is being done in the dark for now haha

im still indifferent whether bony would fit in the team, i suppose he would fare better than lambert

I really don't know either.

But someone will have to save Benteke from Villa.

@City_Watch
City youngster Albert Rusnak has scored a free kick on debut for SC Cambuur to put them 1-0 up against FC Twente.

Yes Linius.

If Bony plays many games, he'll score a lot of goals. Whether we'd have to sacrifice our style of football to force the ball to him in the box is a fair concern though.

Chelsea fans are downplaying their chances this season because it's what their manager did on occasion last season.

They're obviously hoping a shit load of reverse psychology will work in their favour.

This is Benteke's season to show that he wasn't a bit of a flash-in-the-pan. Let him do it at Villa, rather than blowing £22m+ on him in faith. Plus he's still injured I think.

He had a couple of good little runs last season, but from what I saw he was dismal in the main. Obviously the entire team was struggling to create chances and control games, but he wasn't helping imo

I cared enough to tell you to shut up bro. Let's leave it at that.

Then you should have posted differently. see how ridiculous your first response is? and now this one too.

If you're just gonna leave it at that, why even waste a post stating such if you are not gonna say anything? See how silly both your contradictory responses are now? Why bother "bro"?
Stop wasting my time as well as your own. Silence is golden.

To make it short and simple. It is the combination of Falcao's Agent Jorge Mendes hustling: Mendes utilizing his friends (notably Manu Sainz of AS) and allies in the press, as well as Mendes taking advantage of the spanish press who most highly rate Falcao and is popular, as well as providing propaganda in favor of Falcao in an attempt to lobby Real Madrid with the view of getting Falcao to madrid.

I find it fascinating of these next gen "fans" (Manu Sainz) with Mendes trying to influence public opinion and put pressure on the higher ups in madrid to get interested in Falcao.

I have a long detailed version of this but I rather not post it. too long and I don't think y'all will read it anyways.

It's funny as hell how Marca and AS switched places in terms of reliability. Marca stepped up this summer, AS is being too influenced by Mendes shenanigans to be considered reliable. As far as I know, Only EC and Marca somewhat are free from Mendes influence. Pay attention to only Felix Diaz and a select few reporters not in Mendes pockets. That mendes sure is a menace...

I will take my leave now.

So basically Marca are saying Madrid are interested to drum up fan support, and basically force Madrid to sign him as the fans expect it?

But Madrid don't really want him, and he's actually moving to Liverpool on a 10 year contract, getting paid £500 a week

Mourinho was right last season, they weren't up to it. That sort of thing won't work this time around because it's simply not believable.

4th will be really interesting. People laugh at the 4th place trophy thing but this season it really will feel like one. The quality of the premiership is crazy, so many good teams.
