Looks like they just decided to launch 2DS colors with certain games. Still makes my point valid though

I wonder how much of this is going to translate to Smash OTs in the future. No lies, between late 2009 and 2011, I thought that GAF's Smash community was nonexistent thanks to no consistent Brawl OT to check out and no upcoming Smash to discuss. 2011 pretty much changed all that with the announcement of double Smash for Wii U and 3DS, which led into the Project M real builds which led to more eyes on the tourney scene which led to Smash vs Skullgirls for the EVO donation drive which led to Smash @ EVO 2013 which led to "One More Year" which led to the Summer of Smash... etc.
It's really been a crazy ride.
I think... I think this may be the reason why the fighting type is one of my favorites. Element/Theme + Fighting almost always leads to awesome. I can't wait for a Ghost/Fighting or Fairy/Fighting pokemon.
The former would be amazing for a future Smash game.

Oh yeah, mario kart, also. Anything with competitive multiplayer, especially online, should have a global launch. While i'd love all of their games to be global launch, animal crossing did not really suffer because of the time difference. You didnt have to worry about being far behind because there was no online competitive multiplayer.
I get that localization takes a while, but if they can pull it off for pokemon, they can pull it off for smash bros. Within a day or two isn't a huge deal either. I think japan gets games on saturdays, sometimes, right? That's never the case in the US. It's ok if it's sunday/tue/fri, of the same or next week.

Japan gets way more 3DS versions than we do, for whatever reason
I don't care about being #1 as long as there'll be people to chat and find matches with easily. It was always nice to pop my head into the [Ultimate] Marvel vs. Capcom 3 OTs every now and again and find discussion on it even when I didn't initially have the game. SmashGAF on the other hand was so thoroughly scattered or MIA after the first few months of Brawl that I didn't even know where to go to talk about playing or watch streams until a few years later when it came back into vogue.

So while we probably aren't getting any other third party characters except maybe Snake, I want to know if Sakurai wanted perhaps a couple more third party characters, which third party do you think are likely? AKA which ones wouldn't really surprise you? these wouldn't to me:
In no particular order:
Pheonix Wright. - Already got Capcom on board, like Mega Man a character thats primarily focused on Nntendo systems, just a much newer character.
Layton - See above except Level 5 not on board.
Bayonetta - Sega's already on board and I thought I heard Sakurai was friends with Kamiya...like Kojima...
Simon Belmont - If Konami is on board/Snake is in.
Bomberman - See above.
Whoever is the star of the Dynasty Warriors Games - Nintendo and that company have been doing alit of work together.
Whoever the star is of the Shin Megami Tensei Games - See above. Nintendo has all of the SMT games locked down except for Persona.
Monster Hunter - Nintendo also has this locked up, and really popular in Japan. Would be a smart move, but I've heard the creator didn't want it in a fighting game.
Those above would not surprise me at all. Of course, it seems like Sakurai is mainly focused on first parties, which is fine of course.
Sakurai could of course, just pick any character, even one we've never heard of lol. He does what he wants, but the above wouldn'tbe surprising to me.

Man if I were Nintendo, I'd have OD'd and made some stupid bundle pack for the Smash versions.
Wii U version - Gamecube adapter, GCN controller, voucher for downloadable version of Smash 64 on VC
3DS Version - LE 3DS XL in Red, Blue or Black + copy of the game
For both: Large art book of concept sketches and team/Sakurai quotes from the development of each game, 2-3 Amiibos, promotional animated collection of clips from various Japanese animation houses tentatively called "Super Smash Shorts" available on the eShop for free

I hope the PAL version isn't months after the Japanese version, as with Brawl. I bought the Japanese version of Brawl together with a Japanese Wii, which was a hassle. I wouldn't have any problem buying 大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ for Wii U were Wii U region free. But as it isn't, and I don't wanna reverse engineer it, I think I'll wait.

That would make sense since it's same release date as Pokemon ORAS, since there are rumors that Smash Wii U is going to release on same day as Pokemon ORAS in NA which is November 21.

I agreed with you. I don't really like to play as Squirtle or Ivysaur that much in Brawl, but I love them in Project M.

I don't have any strong feelings about Greninja personally, but anyone saying it's not one of the most popular additions in Pokemon X/Y is deluding themselves
On the other hand, Lucario's popularity baffles me. The first time I saw it, I felt it's design was so uninspired and bland that it had to be from a cheap pokemon rip-off game. I was pretty surprised when I discovered it was from the actual series and extremely surprised when I found out it was actually well-liked. Everybody's different I guess :s

There would be only two OT. Super Smash Bros 3DS OT and Super Smash Bros Wii U OT. Online Play should stay in both OT because that's what Official Topic for. I meant, take a look at all fighting games' OTs. You haven't seen any separate online play thread for those fighting games. I think it could be same thing for shooters' OTs as well, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, I think you have a good idea about Screenshots OT since it would benefit for most of people who are on limited data plan for mobiles.

Lucario was meant to be gen 4's mewtwo, a sorta humanoid mysterious talking pokemon that looks badass with DBZ powers, they tried again with zoroak which i think the design is cool personally but it failed, whenever a gen gets a mewtwo type character, GF wants to push it to be mewtwo famous, which is hit or miss.

I feel kind of bad for Zoroark since while that's true, I actually like him.
Cohesive design, fun and unique gimmick, fairly versatile movepool. If they hadn't tried to cram him down our throats by making him so "special" and just let it happen, we might've had a winner.
I never thought he'd be a good fit for a fighter though.

Damn. Ssb4 is going to be huge at the beginning. I'll bet a lot of people are waiting to jump into tourneys with a new game.
Between the strong Melee scene, Smash 4 and Project M 3.5 ~ 4.0 in the future, I'd say this is as good a time as any to jump in.
