do you realize LvG reached the CL finale in his first season at Bayern (and the domestic double) with a squad of Demichelis, LvG, Contento, Badstuber, Jorg Butt, Olic, Gomez, Pranjic, etc. The only good players we had were Robben, Müller (first season as starter), Lahm and Schweinsteiger (first season as DM).

Coaches like LvG, and Rodgers, Klopp, Heynckes, etc do make a difference. They improve their team and players instead of having to buy better and better players to make the team perform better.
My complaints aren't with LVG, I'm aware that he's a fine coach and I've seen evidence of improvement so far.

But right now he has a very large fanbase who expect impeccable results and a very high finish in a league that's unparalleled in its competitiveness.

Everyone expects Liverpool to drop out of the top four to make way for United but, from today's viewing, we'll be just fine.

City, Arsenal and Chelsea will also be fine. Spurs will be better. Everton will remain a constant threat to the larger teams.

If United get a few bad results and performances their fans will get itchy and panic will set in as another season out of the top four is huge. Just huge.

There's already evidence of panic with how United fans are chronicling their transfer activity on a daily basis.

They had a lot of spending to do and a lot of positions to strengthen and they've done the bare necessities.

I want Kagawa to stay at United. Seeing him waste another year of his career being a last ditch nobody will be quite amusing.
His one good performance a year gives us all hope.

Think of the hysteria after our difficult 3 games - either we're fucked, or we're going to win the league.

We're going to win the league.

I want six points.

Christ, Zouma's defending for that goal.

Thought he was a wonderkid? Pants positioning.

tell me about Lovren barking orders at the other defenders
The Echo talked about it but that's usually something you pick up live at the match, so I trust in the opinion.

What I gathered from my blag BT Sport stream is an incredibly assured defender with a great pass and an ability to contribute from set pieces. Looked comfortable.

Also Manquillo looked excellent. First impressions are superb.

Hadnt watched dragons den in a while, all the dragons look really old. Also the products people are presenting are terrible.

I'd take 4 points tbh as long as we don't embarass ourselves in the loss

6 for me. We were notoriously awful at WHL before last years 5-0, but I think we should have enough to beat Spurs. However, Pochettino seems to be a difficult man to beat, I suppose Spurs' performance will depend on how quickly they have adapted to him in pre-season.

Christ, Assaidi still hasn't left?

this face can't be denied

Being a Japanese footy fan must be crushing these days, their big star is a flop and their NT being complete shit.

On the up side Honda is an 81 on fifa and pretty good at free kicks.

If not for the depth up front and at LB, and the 2nd and 3rd fixtures, I'd be looking forward to the season much more than I am

Without Suarez we've lost a hell of a lot of quality, but the attackers we still have are very clever, eager to impress and improve, and mentally sharp as fuck. Desperate for Coutinho to become consistent. He can make the entire attack tick if he does

@Yen, I thought it was Everton and City away?

If it's Spurs, I'll be a lot more confident, though a draw there still isn't a bad result since Pochettino is a very good manager

Kagawa told he can stay and be third choice, surely he would leave?

He is second choice No10 to Mata really, Herrera will play most of the season as a CM. Herrera is very good also in the No10 role, as evident in the second half of the LA Galaxy match but I don't see him playing there too often.

I only saw him play at the WC, apart from knowing that he can play multiple positions I have no idea how world class he is or isn't. But I guess from the reaction to my post, he is pretty good.

Blind is class for Ajax and will be very important for us this coming season. Can't say how he'll perform at a club like United. But if Louis comes to him and tells him he can sit on the bench in Manchester he's sure as hell not gonna move there. He's got Ajax in his heart and he won't leave us to sit on the bench at a big club. I don't think I can say that about any other player we have, but with Blind I truly believe that.

And I just hope if it comes down to it Overmars will do clever business. We have money, we don't need to sell. We're not Feyenoord. He should just ask 20+ million or bust. Blind is more important than a transfer fee.

Adnan will have to become a no.10 or he wont play under the current system too, hsi output is more than Shinjis :o-

Cheers

Moreno is done.

£16 million. Convinced it has been for a while now. Just posturing from Sevilla to make it look like they clung on and to get a final performance from him in the Super Cup. He'll be announced shortly after.

And given how Manquillo and Johnson performed today, with Flanagan and Enrique as backups, it's not a massive issue like the forward area is.

Which is, let me remind everyone getting excited after today (me included), is a huge problem.

As much as I think the Lovren - Sakho partnership is the way forward, I can't help but feel Lovren was bought partly to get the best out of Skrtel, and eliminate the errors he has in his game when there is no clear leadership at the back.

That pairing could be formidable both upfront and at the back this season if they play to their potential.

Migs was much more commanding today too tbf.

Getting a bit worried about the lack of rumours for anyone realistic

I assume Rodgers and FSG are doing what they can and realise that it's an issue, but since Remy fell apart it's been disconcertedly quiet

Then we sign Falcao is a move that has 'statement of intent' written all over it, and the league is won in February

Holy shit.

Whatever unheard of team Chelsea are playing should be two up. Don't know who that was in defence but they just wilted.

It has always been that from last year's top 4, Liverpool are most likely to drop out if someone else gets there. The reasons are Suarez gone (and no good backup for Sturridge), Europe adding extra to the team and defense especially full backs a concern. Lovren will help tremendously with the defense though. Chelsea/City for title, Liverpool-Arsenal-ManU for 3-4-5 with Everton/Spurs thrown in.

Of course, season could just turn out completely different.

No sane United fan expects this season to be easy. The biggest problem with Moyes was we started all right then bad and then just went from bad to worse to shit. If that happens under LVG and his new system, yea the cycle will repeat itself.

Nobody here from United would be happy with just Herrera and Shaw being brought in. We have been asking for a world class DM signing from Fergie's time. The CB situation just became more drastic after the switch to 352 position.

I call Sturridge 'Django' because my iPhone autocorrected Daniel.

I remember coming out of Django and seeing that we'd bid for Coutinho and being annoyed because I wanted Sneijder.

:lol

Crackers.

It's a shame Ramires wasted his goal this year on a friendly. :/

Oscar should have also scored.

Costa and Cesc look majestic together out there though.

Left side inside forward?

Part of the two forwards in the 3-5-2 system. That's why LVG tried using Zaha, Nani, and Young in that position during pre season. The first two didn't cut it and Young has found his spot on the wing. RVP isn't that kind of player so there is still a need to fill that role.
