PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Thanks, knowing me I would have just ran into the dungeon, and wondered why they were joining my party lol You guys have been a lot of help! I'll try to jump back into the game later today (with a reduced party size) and will let you know how it goes.

I feel dumb, but I didn't even realize real players could join my match. That could actually be fun? Although I would probably weigh down the group, still kind of suck lol

You'll know when PC players join your party. You need to pass a certain point in the game for it to happen. You'll be around level 16-18 if I remember correctly.

VitaGAF should try to arrange some multiplayer matches of Dragon's Crown now that it's available on PS+.

I'm all in, but my characters levels are either >100 or <20 (my elf) :p
The game scales high level characters depending on the difficulty, but still, can always start a new one.

I actually played most of my 140h with fellow players, it's pretty fun and players survive better than AI. Thanks to this I'm pretty bad when solo'ing lol.
And since you need to beat the first nine bosses before jumping online, you'll be already somewhat familiar with your character, as will your companions.

Also, NPCs will have either "H" or "NPC" near their portraits. You can also click on their portraits (or touch, on vita) - if they're human their PSN ID will show up, if AI it'll only be "------".

Thanks for the tips guys. I've actually been loading up my entire party when going into dungeons. Can you go into a dungeon with just 1 ally? Is it doable?

It's very much doable to solo the game. Actually enemies and bosses get more HP the bigger the party is so going solo might even seem easier on harder difficulties.

To be clear, I'm not saying Dragon's Crown is a bad game. I think it's amazing, really. I just, am not feeling satisfied with how I'm playing the game. I always feel like I'm just a third wheel (and the AI is quickly killing things before I can, or doing most of the damage). Maybe scaling back the AI so I can be more up front will make it better.

Then again, maybe I just suck at this game. Totally possible. I love everything about this game, just feeling frustrated with my execution of the gameplay I guess. Hard to explain.

I know that feeling quite well. There are many games where I felt frustrated at the beginning because my combat execution seemed to be sub par and not as fluid as it was supposed to be but normally once I've broken into the combat system it starts to be really fun. Last time I had this was with Tales of Graces f. It took me some time to get used to the new combat mechanics and it felt like I didn't know what I was doing but once I got used to it I was in for a real treat.

Which class are you playing?

Don't know how laggy cross-region MP (Europe-US) is but I would love to join.

Same here! I've started a new hero and its still like 65lvl or so, it would be nice to play with it through the other difficulties with fellow gafers
Count me in for some Dragon's Crown - my PSN is swnnyh

Fun fact: Phantom Breaker Battle Grounds and Akiba's Trip both take place in Akihabara. And we're getting them the same week. How crazy is that.

My gosh. The Vita is getting so many games this week. @_@

And Sword Art Online the week after that. Man... I have to stay strong and not buy anything until Danganronpa 2, though. I feel like I've repressed my love for the first game since it released but it's out again.

Guys, is it me or is The Swapper's framerate on the Vita pretty horrible?

Also is the Playstation TV release date on Amazon of December 1st accurate? I really can't wait to play some of my Vita games on my TV, have really been just staring at my VitaTV under my bedroom TV disappointingly.

Can anyone help me out here?

Everything I download on any device typically hits around 2MB/s on my Wi-Fi (PS4, Wii U, Laptop, iPad, you name it) but my Vita is downloading games at an atrociously slow pace. It's around 300kB/s and is starting to get really annoying. Anyone else experiencing this problem? As we speak I am preloading Hohokum and downloading The Swapper on my PS4 at the same time and both are above 1MB/s but 10 minutes ago before I turned on my PS4 my Vita was crawling along around 300kB/s downloading Final Fantasy Remastered.

What's going on?

I've played it on vita some and didnt notice any difference. but that doki doki game for sure has frame rate issues on vita

I see you there, Hohokum preload. You will be mine.

Vita ports are a mixed bag, but they trend more toward good than bad in my experience. But you can generally expect 30 FPS instead of 60 for anything remotely resource intensive. Doki Doki Universe is particularly poor but it runs poorly on PS3 too. Disappointing, since it actually controls best on Vita, but it's best played on PS4 simply due to performance.

I'm enjoying Dragon's Crown much more than I did Muramasa last month.

In Muramasa I barely got past the tutorial level then quit (boredom, too complicated). As for Dragon's Crown, I've already played 3hrs this week and can see myself keeping this slow pace probably until Monster Hunter 4 (don't have as much time for games as before).

First and foremost, do you have Settings > Power Save Settings > "Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode" checked? If so, uncheck it.

Secondly, are you at all experienced with DNS settings and do you have admin access to your router? I find my ISP's DNS to be far slower than Google's when accessing the PSN - especially on Vita.

-

Best week ever if Danganronpa 2 were to stealth release this week.

Lol, it's set for September 2nd/5th depending on region - that'd be quite the "stealth release".

-

How much is SAO?

I wish I knew.

Whenever there is a rather lackluster sale of the week, they seem to come up with a flash sale. I thought this week's offerings were poor.

We've been having lack luster sales for weeks though. You expect this week the week that's having a Square Enix sales that includes like all of the Final Fantasy games on PSN for 50% off to have a flash sale?

I do have the Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode unchecked. I realized a while ago that was pausing downloads, which was infuriating in of itself.

Yeah, I can get into the router and play with the DNS settings, what do you suggest doing? I haven't really done that before. I just find it odd that the PS4 would download much faster than the Vita using the same Wi-Fi connection. Is it possible to download games to PC or PS4 first and then move them to the Vita?

There was a good flash sale last week and the week before that.

Amazing how people are now asking for flash sales on a constant basis. It's not easy to find publishers willing to sell their games for $1, y'know?

Change your DNS settings to this;

Primary; 8.8.8.8
Secondary; 8.8.4.4

(Or if for some reason you're IPV6;
2001:4860:4860::8888
2001:4860:4860::8844
Those ones.)

Then tell your router to reboot, and reboot your Vita.

It's currently not possible to download Vita games to PS4 or PC, only PS3 and Vita.

Hate to be OT but is there a Vita OT? I can't find it and I'm trying to get an answer to something before I make a purchase.

This is the Vita OT, just not in name.

This used to be the Vita OT until the mods forced us into an arranged marriage with the weekly store threads. This thread is still like 70% Vita discussion though

I tend to go back and forth with my opinion about which I like more. I appreciate Muramasa's incredibly solid framerate, beautiful art, and fun combat. But I also really love DC's art and interesting dungeons. I don't know what others think, but I also enjoyed DC's narrator.

Which class are you playing right now? I'm considering going back through again with something different (played Fighter the first time).

This thread is the inofficial Vita OT. ;)

Well damn.... Here's my dilemma. I have a PS4 and PSPGo. I want to be able to use the Virtual Memory Saves for PSOne classics but I can't without a PS3 to transfer.

Now I had a PS3 so I know it was basically a hub for Vita and PSP in this regard AND I know that the PS4 doesn't give a shit about PSOne classics or its saves so my question is will a Vita be able to get this saves off GameFAQs without a PS3 or do I need to get another PS3?

I played it for 10 hours and do not even know where to go for multiplayer games.. How does it work?

Beat the first nine bosses, then go to the stables. It'll ask if you want to go online (if you deny, it'll ask the same for ad-hoc. Deny both to play offline), then you can either join a random room, a friend's room or host one (just go on a stage).

Also people, here's the DC OT. It's still alive :) (the player list is probably outdated tho).
Go check it, Caerith did an awesome job, with tons of info.

Sounds good to me. My dwarf is a bit too powerful to play with new players, but I can start a new class. I play every weekday around 1 PM US central standard time, during my lunch break. PSN is Randy_M_Green

your content manager on pc should be able to do this

I played the Japanese version (which was luckily only about 40 USD on the Asian stores), and I gotto say that the english narration lost quite some of detail. I tried the English narration in one playthrough, but the JP version just sets the atmosphere better.

Like, for example, the poor guy asking for alms. When his story was narrated, it felt like a story of tragedy in Japanese, but not so much in the English version.

Inoue Kikuko's (Sorceress) narration was also awesome. IMO, the other adventurer's narrations weren't as good as the main and Inoue's.
