Ok, I got to know: How does one get custom member status on GAF?

Now I've been wondering this for years now.

I always though this is some kind of a privilege for mods and certain VIPs from the industry and/or veteran members here on the board but this morning I saw a thread from someone that is 17 years old, join date 2012, who had custom member status - and that doesn't really fit into what I thought is needed to get it.

I tried to Google this now several times but never found a clear answer to that question. Even the FAQ here only states that an administrator has to enable that (which was obvious).

So please, GAF, tell me, what's the secret? I gotta know, once and for all.

Do something really cool or really stupid.

Usually "custom member statuses" (or tags as we call them) are linked to something very stupid and are used as a shameful reminder of that fact.

So either beat Evilore at a pool match ban-bet during a GAF meetup or masturbate in your sister's room with the headphones not plugged in while she's sleeping. (Did he get a tag for that?)

Your choice.

Three ways:

1. Kiss ass to a mod
2. Be obnoxious
3. Be an overall consistently good poster

I must have been obnoxious to get this ridiculous tag, I still don't know wtf it means.

You gotta find the line between posts that'll get you banned, and posts that'll make you famous. The two are not mutually exclusive.

It is kinda like High School nicknames.

Or do you have to do something incredibly embarassing that will hunt you forever ....or you have to be friends with the big popular guys

OP, what if I told you that somewhere on this forum there's a very large box, and whatever you imagined, whatever you wanted to be in it, when you opened that box there it would be?

Even some of us who have them don't know why or what they mean.

Actually, you just have to hover your mouse over your tag to reveal your hidden tag.

Cool, didn't know this was possible. Are you the only one on the forum or do I need to compulsively mouse hover over everyone's tag?

Sometimes tags aren't always positive. It's just something that happens. The best ones are when people get unjuniored early, like AAA Ether
