How do you get rid of an earworm?

The only cures I've found are:
1) replace it with a new earworm, or
2) distraction
But earworms operate similarly to The Game, wherein the more you resist it, the more it persists.
I just lost The Game, btw.

Im very familiar with the original and love it but the new version is just different enough for me to prefer it

Get with the times old man. So you've heard the reworked version? You honestly don't like it? I will give props to the original it's a classic and superb but this one has just melted my brain.

I always replace my current earworm with "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler then they both vanish soon after.
