You think this is a rare case? Would it not interest you to know whether it's a psychological or sociological condition for men to be aggressively possessive over women to the point of doing something like this? Not that he doesn't have a proven history of aggression.

When I trained in martial arts, coaches emphasized restraint and self control. Heck, boxers are known to not get into petty fights as they can easily see jail time due to their huge advantage.

Well... no. There was a time where abuse victims were very common in the porn industry, and that stereotype hasn't changed with the profession. By most accounts, lots of things have changed in porn over the last two decades. It's not filled with nearly the scam-artists and glorified pimps as it used to be.

Judging by the tweet he sent out, he came back and probably found her getting it on with another guy and lost his shit. Nowadays, provocation of this nature is generally not accepted as a defense to crimes of passion, and i'm sure the courts won't be especially forgiving of someone with clear aggression issues based on his past actions, but he could always bring up mental health for his defense and (based on his mental instability) probably get some play out of it. If I had to guess this guy is (rightly) going to get the book thrown at him with some serious jail time. Hope Christy Mack gets better soon and finds someone who can take care of her the right way.

He is a person with serious anger issues which were never addressed at all. He has multiple incidents of violence in his past and spent time in jail yet his issues were never addressed at all. I feel really sorry for her sounds like she was suffering from batter women/person syndrome and it got to the point where he all most killed her if not for her quick thinking. I wish someone could have helped her sooner before it got to point where he almost killed her.

Fuck's sake, can I state for the record that this guy is a shithead. My post was merely me wondering if his aggression was psychological or a societal construct of ownership over a woman and her body by a patriarchal society and was worried that a lot of men could be influenced by this an act similarly.
I hope this reads better, I thought that by stating 'I wonder how many' I wouldn't be implying that it would even be the majority of men but I can understand how it reads this way.

War Machine is a legit psychopath. He was abused as a kid. I believe he talked about it on TUF. He didn't last on the UFC long, and not just because he wasn't good enough. He had enough heart and enough of a following he might have made more prelim cards. However, getting into porn alone was a sign of something being wrong, because it was always going to be a hindrance to reaching high levels in combat sports. On top of that, there were one or two stories about him having altercations on the sets of porn shoots.
