Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

I'm probably late for this, but the Hyrule Warriors art book shows concept art for a
female version of Link.
How much should we beg Sakurai to put that as a DLC skin (if Smash ever gets DLC of course)

How will this item function if you get hit?

  • Do you drop it, and someone else can pick it up?
  • If someone else picks it up, do they have to also wait the full time, or the remaining time (total time - time you held it already)?
  • Does it work like an assist trophy, where you don't always drop it if you're hit, but you can't activate it until you've been left alone?
  • Does it work like a smash ball, where they have to hit you a certain amount for you to drop it, and then it's anyone else's game?
  • Or does it just disappear if you're hit, and nobody gets it?

Also, how do you activate it? As soon as you pick it up, like an assist trophy, or is it like the fire flower, where you have to hold A for a certain amount of time? If so, can yo hold it for 1 second, move, 1 more second, move, etc, until it activates? Or do you need to hold it the max length in one sitting?

If I had to guess (or had to design it), I would say the person trying to use it drops it when hit. The next person has to hold it for the full time to get the effect.

I'd do it your way, OR make it disappear entirely (or respawn somewhere else on the map, kinda like how the smash ball flies away once it's knocked out).

I mean, let's be honest, this items is about as powerful as a smash ball, only the reverse. I wonder if smash balls will appear while these are out.

Considering I'd be surprised if the games were pretty much done by now, it'd be wasting your time.

That makes sense too. I kinda like the idea of the item focusing all the action and chaos into one spot though.
Get this author some foil for his hat!
Lol. This Smash Bros game is near the median of release date announcement -> release date gaps. No way anything could ever fall below the median! It's not like half the data is down there.

While I like the costume ideas for the Miis I would like for more characters to get costumes too :(

Also about the new scans are they already translated SmashGAF?

Ayup, makes me think we'll be doing all customization in another menu entirely, thus, potentially, killing custom characters already.

You know Brawl had custom options right? In the form of controller layouts. They'd tie this configuration to a name so I don't see why a similar method can't be used for custom movesets.

EDIT: Just noticed there is a name at the top of the screenshot.

Pic of the day. If you manage to raise this Special Flag for long enough, an additional KO count will be added to your score in a time match, or you'll get an extra stock for a stock match. When this appears on the stage, the fight for the flag becomes a fierce battle of tactics, which makes things pretty interesting.

That item sounds so broken, at least i hope that it takes a long time to work

Correct, but they were 'set it once, and never touch it again,' whereas custom movesets beg to be altered over time. So what will happen is you'll either make one custom moveset and NEVER CHANGE IT, or just not use it altogether. Not to mention, if you have friends come over who don't already have a custom profile set up, they won't get to participate without backing out into menus and such, which can get boring for quick, casual, pick-up play.

it'd be far more appealing to me, anyway, if I could alter moves between fights, the same way I pick a new stage between fights. If my opponents change between battles, maybe i'd like to switch between fire and ice arrows between battles because one works better on a certain fighter vs another. I don't want to have to back out allllll the way to another menu JUST to change to ice arrows. I'll just end up never customizing anyone.

Looks like hats, costumes and moves are based on the Mii. So if you and another Mii want to use the same moves/costume, you need to recreate them.

I would have preferred making costume "slots" anyone could use and treat them like alternate costumes on the CSS like any other character.

Also the Mii customization menu is probably what non-Mii's menu will look like as well, just without hats and clothing options.

Guys, i'm hosting a SBS tournament! Let me know if you'd like to participate. I'm getting everything prepared now for future use, once everything is ready to go down. So far I have 22 people interested. Let me know if I forgot to put your name down!

Nothing is set right now, everything can change in the future.

Super Bash Sisters Tournament

Thanks for putting this together, Batty! Looking forward to it! :D

I'm game for the tournament if I can manage to organise matches between work and time zones (Australia).

I'll be playing as Lucina most likely.

Yeah, I'm all-too familiar with the perils of living in the eastern hemisphere. #JapanTime

I..uh.. I started the Smash Bros 3DS tournament a long time ago..

Can I join!?

I wish it were easier to tell, at a glance, which equipment was better than others

It'd be nice if they had 'rarities' with different colors, tones, or levels of shininess. As it stands, i'd have to scroll through all of the boots and look at them to see which ones are better. It'd be nice if I could sort by shiny ones (being more rare) and maybe sell the rest. Unless.. there is no 'better/rarer, and they're all... theoretically... balanced (same stat difference, with special abilities being worth a set amount of stat points).

Left: 97-66 = 31 points
Right: 84-50 = 34 points + special ability
Clearly it's better, point wise, so I guess not.

I'm also sad that they're not themed after video game items/weapons. Would be nice to see 'home run bat' or 'master sword' or 'Super Mallet' or something along those lines.

Stills seems so early to be organizing tournaments. I'm in though. I think I already signed up for Sah's, but Troubled Bat put my name in yours too.

(Trying to play seriously online is terrible, but I don't care. It's all in good fun.)

Looks like there's sorting options at the top right. I'd be surprised if 'By Rarity' wouldn't be one.

Colour coding would be nice though.

Some fighting games play perfectly fine online, so I wouldn't write off Smash 4's online yet, specially with Namco working on the game.

Aww yeah, something new to fight over lol.

There is no way they will delay the Wii U version. Nintendo has nothing this winter except for this title. Nintendo gathered some momentum after MK8, but they would completely waste it if they let Smash slip to 2015. It's not like with Brawl that was already planned for after the holiday season and during a time when Wii was doing ridiculous numbers..
