Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

Mario Kart is also a significantly more casual experience. Smash rosters are an event.

We've had two major character-based Nintendo releases in the past few months reveal their whole character roster before release. one which traditionally doesn't do it. Smash has already revealed characters that are traditionally unlockable, and we have very good reason to believe all but two newcomers ave been revealed. There's obviously changes on, Smash being an "event" doesn't necessarily change that.

I think all the newcomers will be revealed before release for sure. Wouldn't be surprised if everyone was revealed right before release.

I'd be sort of surprised to see EVERY character revealed before release. There's a month left and still 10-15 characters to reveal... I think unlockable veterans, for the most part, will stay hidden. So no Game & Watch, no ROB, no Falco/Wolf, no Jigglypuff, probably no Ganondorf before the game is out. That still leaves what I assume are the last remaining newcomers (Chorus Kids and Shulk) along with Wario, Meta Knight, Ice Climbers... and possibly Ness. With four and a half weeks that's plenty; might just be all of them in a Smash Direct.

Meta Knight could be unlockable this time but, honestly, I think he'd fit in the Shulk reveal trailer. Not because it makes sense, but because it makes NO sense but would look cool.

Salt isn't inherently competitive. You ever been in a game of Mario Party that had you give two stars to an opponent based on dice rolls?

Ah, the good ol' "switch stars and coins" thing on the Miracle spaces. Once, in MP6, my brother had 29 stars and a few hundred coins, and he had to switch with my dad, who had 4 stars and like 10 coins - all because I stepped on the Miracle space. What cruel game.

But I digress...3DS stage tonight.

Pic of the day. If you manage to raise this Special Flag for long enough, an additional KO count will be added to your score in a time match, or you'll get an extra stock for a stock match. When this appears on the stage, the fight for the flag becomes a fierce battle of tactics, which makes things pretty interesting.

I think we will definitely get more vet and newcomer announcements before release. Sakurai might be saving them for a Direct though. Sakurai has been pretty cheeky with the descriptions lately, so he may just be killing time until then.

WOW, interesting indeed.

Holy shit, apparently it increases your stock by one.

What if you're not doing a stock match? Does it just bump your score up by 1?

Seems OP.

That insures that I will never play "For Fun" mode ever.

So a 1-up of sorts eh? First time in Smash history.

I think the fact you need to hold it up for X amount of time will keep it (mostly) balanced. Makes you an easy target for anyone paying attention.

Sort of hoping the 1-Up Mushroom gets an appearance now... even if it's hyper-rare. It's too iconic to be left out.
