PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

I might grab Cel Damage HD at that price but other than that there's nothing much that interests me in that sale I haven't already got.

And surely the AU sale price is a typo for Child of Light, with a $2 discount Ubisoft mayaswell have not discounted it here at all.

Unless this uupdate adds ten bosses or more, I'm not coming back for a second round. Toukiden was too dry and had so little content.

I don't mind it not having "much content", because I'm primarily looking into hunting games that I can play at my own pace (and thus mostly alone) as well as not being grindy.

On that note, you should stay away from Freedom Wars, if boss count matters to you.

The game has only 7 boss variations. This is a part of an impression I was writing for Freedom Wars but am longer sure if I should post or not since a patch have changed some things. And I am done with the game. :/
Enemy Variety
There are too few enemy types - only seven (or eight, but I'd stand by seven). The rest can be considered variations. There are two types of Abductors story-wise: "Natural" Abductors (天獄 actually, but I'll use natural for simplicity) and Man-Made Abductors.

In the trailers, you might have seen a dragon, spider, or tiger - those are natural ones. There are four of those. They have "elemental/re-colours", but the movesets are the same.

Man-made ones are mix-'em-ups. Basically, there's the top body, the bottom body, and the optional parts. There are three type of top bodies (General Purpose, Artillery, and Transport), while there are two types of lower body (Bipedal or Quadrupedal). While at first, it may seem awesome, the movesets between most of them are a little bit too similar to each other.

Of course, the story would be a bit different if you're looking for a coop/multiplayer game.

There're also people who says that it's not a hunting game, and they're right in some sense. But the basic premise/core game idea is actually still the same. It pits you in an "arena" with a huge "monsters" in it.

BoF3 and Steamworld Dig for me, not bad for £5.50.

I was considering Soul Sacrifice but am feeling a bit burned out on hunting after playing Toukiden and Ragnarok Odyssey recently.

Sale is not great (many games repeated), but I'm still content with Soul Sacrifice Delta. That's a game I've been waiting for to be on sale. Also, if you buy Sly Collection on the PS3, you get the vita version? If that's the case, then that's another one I've been waiting to go on sale.

Long stretch, but is Rayman Legends cross-buy?

I don't think so.

Never played the original Soul Sacrifice but I've got it on the PS Vita since it was a PS+ game some time ago. Worth playing through or should I ignore it and go for Delta? What's the general opinion on the games?

Just play Delta. The improvements are massive. Not worth playing the original at this point (Since Delta includes the original story as well as the expansion stuff).

Now that I'm thinking about it, I may not get SSD after all. I've been waiting for a sale since launch, but right now, I have little time for games and even less money to spend on games. Phantom Breaker and Sword Art Online are my focus for this month, I know that even if I buy SSD, I won't play it in months.

Nothing for PS4 this week? :(

Nope, last week was PS4, this week is PS3/Vita

You'll make Baekshi cry :(

Looking at the sale. I will buy Luftrausers and am tempted by Steamworld Dig but can anyone recommend it? not sure what exactly it is to be honest but it does look interesting

Steamworld Dig is a great game, I've already played it through on 3DS. You gradually dig through one giant chasm, picking up loot and minerals, then heading back to town to buy upgrades that'll let you get a bit deeper. It's a very addictive cycle. I got around 6-7 hours of play out of it, and remember people saying anywhere from 5-8, but it's quite a soothing experience really. Good for the commute.

Sure, but I've already got Soul Sacrifice for free. I realize there are improvements but are they worth buying Delta for over playing the original?

I'm probably not spending money on anything gaming related for a while, unless they make some incredibly deal - which they aren't doing

I want Luftrausers but it's very likely coming to PS+ next month

Everytime I see Breath of Fire 3 for PSP on sale in Europe I say "Capcom, why do you not want my US dollars?"

I did import the PSP disc version (same with Tales of Eternia), but I want to play it on my Vita...

NISA never discount its games, right?

I want to buy Disgaea 3, but that full price make me want to get Demon Gaze first

Disgaea 3 went on PS+ in EU last year and US in march of this year. Though NIS sales are usually rare. I would expect a Price drop in the next few months since Disgaea 4 Vita is out, which is par for the course with NIS (Disgaea 2 Digital price dropped with Disgaea 3 Vita released, Disgaea 1 PSP price dropped after Disgaea 2 released)

Demon Gaze is great though. can't go wrong and it will get a sale/price drop even further out than Disgaea 3/

Sooooo...none of my 'A' list went on sale.

This means I'm getting Dynasty Warriors 8 XL (PS4 so I can remote it) and...

Should I get:

  • Ground Zeroes (bearing in mind I've only just started MGS3 and have yet to play MGS4 at all)...
    or...
  • Soul Sacrifice Delta (bearing in mind that I already have vanilla via PS+)
I guess neither will get played much in the immediate future, because SAO next week.

Descisions, decisions...if only Danganronpa had gone on sale.

Screw it - I don't want it anyway.

Reverse Psychology

Everybody should buy Virtua Tennis 4 for Vita if you still havent.

Edit: Gravity Crash Ultra is up on the store but still no + discount as promised (20%)
Edit2: And fuck all the avatars and dynamic themes. Fuck you and go and die.

What? Am I reading this correct? I remember that Disgaea 3 was never announced for the European PS+ ;).

Wait for Danganronpa.

I don't remember Disgaea 3 being on PS+ in the EU.

Hohokum is sweet, though some areas are pretty confusing as far as what you need to do.

Have people figured out the license issue with Hohokum? A friend can't play it but I can. US accounts on both of us (though she's in the EU).

I recommend P.T. to anyone who likes horror, but...uh...don't be afraid to bail out and look it up on youtube or something because it gets really stupid and wastes a lot of your time if you don't do the exact right thing, and at one point it seems to basically be RNG that decides whether you get the next part.

Double dipping on BoF3.
Which Vita grip can you guys recommend me? My left hand goes numb after playing for more than 30mins.
I'm a fan of the dualshock replica grips like the Vita Assist Grip from Japan or the Spartan Game Grip you can find from Australia (if you can find it for cheap).

Man, this game. I have no idea on what I'm doing (ok, sometimes I figure something out), and I'm not even mad. A good one to chill out.

Touch things. Touch ALL the things. It starts to make sense. Though I got stuck in the beginning area
the big multicolored thing with an eye in it...you have to hold square
don't know how I managed to get stuck on that.

Generally, you want to open up new areas moreso than explore the individual levels, since you can teleport back from Visit Home at any time.

Also if you accidentally press Visit Home, mash circle, I keep doing this and it seems to let you cancel. I recommend pausing with the PS Button if you're prone to accidentally picking Visit Home.

I use the Nyko Power Grip solely because of the battery. I'm not entirely sure I prefer it to the plain Vita, but it keeps you off the touch pad and I know some people like the grippies.

Surgeon Simulator: Anniversary Edition is available on the european stores. Are there really differences between this "anniversay edition" and the PC version?

Disgaea 3 was not a ps+ game in march. I've been watching the free games every month and adding them to my download list and it was never one (though I wish it was). Do you mean it was on sale?

How is Hohokum? Worth the full price? Decent length?
It looks so relaxing and charming but there are already so many games I want this month.
