WWE 2K15 First Footage and Gameplay changes

I'm also curious if there's going to be any way to import MP3s for CAW theme songs.

This is something that I think is legit important.

They need to ditch the sim gameplay route and make the games batshit crazy.

-Hogan gets a 2nd health bar and becomes stronger after he Hulks Up
-Taker takes 1/3 damage of everyone else unless you attack Paul Bearer
-Ric Flair gets stronger the more he bleeds
-Macho Man's strength increases the closer an opponent gets to Miss Elizabeth

They need to make more games that take gimmicks seriously.

Sounds good to me.

Some more really ill-timed potato screens. Wouldn't put much stock into how the game will actually look in person based on these.

Can't find it.

However, I did manage to find out that kicking someone while they're getting up is no longer no-sold, which is great news.

I meant NBA 2k15. lol.

Edit: Damn, something new. Finally. Looks ok. I had a feeling it wouldn't look like it did in those stills but I will reserve final judgement for direct feed.

Ohhhhh.

Well whicle I was poking around there, at least I found out that the PC version of NBA is based off the PS4/XB1 versions this time at least!

EDIT: like the screen. Did they only scan Cena doing angry face, or is that just his usual limited emotion?

I want mid 90's Goldust

This game also NEEDS weight detection. IDK why it was ONLY limited to 2 matches last year in WM mode. They didn't even put it in for Bret vs Yoko in WM 9. The best use of weight detection has been in DoR 2, or bring back the classic system and just fix it up a bit so HBK can slam HHH. I don't want to use Bret and toss around Yoko and Andre

All of this. IT was cool when it would let you know you couldn't just toss some dude cause they were fucking huge.

Also 90's Goldust vs Razor Ramone needs to happen.

I'm all for more sim but I'm not sure I like the "lockpicking" mechanic. It definitely seems like there are simpler options that would work just as well if not better without having to insert complicated systems.

Why not just have different sets of moves for damage levels?

It also sounds like there's not going to be any way to engineer a squash match which has been a problem forever with every jobber being an absolute chore to defeat, no matter how weak you try to make them.

It's accurate to the current product then. Heath Slater has 2 wins in a row!

Gosh the "just copy No Mercy" mentality is such a bore. The AKI engine was great for its time, but it also has plenty of flaws and annoying bits.

I'm excited about some innovation in a wrestling game for once.
It's no coincidence that all the games inspired by that old grappling engine have been received well. It's still by far the best base anyone has come up with for a wrestling game.

It doesn't have to be copied to a tee, the TNA/All-Stars developers kinda put their own spin on it which resulted in some good games.

Neon Green Cena and post-Real Americans Cesaro are in, at least. I hope they put in alternate recent versions of most of the wrestlers. You should be able to play both as WM30 Batista and as Evolution Batista, although that's a bad example. Real Americans Cesaro and current Cesaro. Neon Cena and whatever his new merch set is. Red Cena?

I think they said the new tech allows them to create models much faster, so where the cutoff date used to be around WM, now it's closer to June/July.

Damn, without all the photoshoping and the supersampling, that feels a lot less impressive.

Well neither is going to be representative. We've had bullshots and off-screen cameras. We're going to need direct feed to properly judge.

If they've changed this much, they really need to get a demo out.

2 things:

1. You have to take into account the fact that these shots are off-screen and blurry as hell. So they aren't all that all that representative of what it looks like through direct feed footage.

2. It's still unclear to this point whether those screens are from the PS3/360 version or the PS4/XB1 version of the game.

I thought only the PS4 version was at Gamescom.

I think the controller silhouette is the dualshock 4. I could be completely wrong though.

Still, these pics aren't going to tell us much.

No, you're right. That is clearly a DS4 outline as the DS3 doesn't go like that.

But yeah, wait for direct feed gameplay.

Maybe. Even if so, my first point still stands that off-screen footage is about as representative as a 4k bullshot for any game. Once we actually see it in action through direct feed gameplay, which is hopefully soon, then I think we can make an accurate assessment of how the game looks. Most likely the roster reveal will be our first official look.

If there was ever a day for IGN to make this whole featured month worth a damn, it'd be today. 2K would be smart to get direct feed gameplay out there today so that the first public impressions of the game aren't from someone recording Gamescom footage with their phones tomorrow.

Yes, it's a very bad decision to not release a few minutes of HD gameplay footage where it looks at its best with people who understand the gameplay. I don't see how it does anyone any favours to have to judge based on low quality youtube handheld videos and photos.

According to Twitter...

Overall
John Cena : 96
Cesaro : 93
Goldust : 87
Randy Orton : 92

I don't like how high the ratings are. Cena at 96? Fine. But there should be a greater disparity between the top guy and, say, Goldust. A mere nine points differentiating these guys is silly.

They only seem to matter for Cena.

Seriously, Cena in 2k14 was hilariously broken especially in sim matches (spoiler: he pretty much never loses). Granted, I guess this is a reflection of reality.

That's fine with me. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I'd be okay with them eliminating ratings altogether and just assigning certain "traits" or whatevs, not unlike All-Pro Football 2K8, if anyone played/remembers that game.
