Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

Dammit I just found out that the game will be playable at a videogame expo here in Chile (Festigame) and it's sold out, the only available tickets costs $80, that means 240 bucks total for me and my kids, god I hope they dont find out :(

It's funny

If the stages stay as large as they were at E3 (as in, every stage is basically Dreamland 64 when it comes to death boundaries), then they probably shouldn't nerf MKs killing power. And buff everyone else up to his killing power.

Unless they want to see people living to 150%+ every stock

Maybe they could do a compromise? Individual stages for single player, and generic Target Smash stages for co op (assuming they're even bringing back co op for single player modes)

Actually, we don't have any confirmation of co op returning in Smash 4, do we? There's nothing on the 3DS Stadium Games being co op.

Also, seems like Smash 3DS won't have Events (which would be a really huge loss for SP Smash)

That compromise sounds a little too much work to make happen, honestly. I wasn't even considering co-op when I think of BTT and Brawl but now that you mention it that was probably one of the other reasons BTT wasn't character specific in Brawl..... (on top of the character count being really large, of course).

And yeah, we have no confirmation on anything being co-op this time around. Not a single word on it. To be honest, I didn't really enjoy co-op for single player modes (and that partly has to do with how the modes were designed around it in the first place).

Everyone gets to recover!

- No Target Smash
- No Board the Platforms
- No Events
- No Stage Builder
- Possibly no new Donkey Kong Stage.

I'm getting a bit worried about the 3DS Version now. I was hoping it'd be the version to focus on all the single-player extras, but it looks like it will be a bit gimped.

Hopefully Smash Run and the new Classic Mode are deep enough.

The italicized hasn't been in since the original (presumably due to balooning character counts), and we know nothing either way on the bolded. The lack of break the targets is a tragedy, but let's not cry gloom and doom just yet.

We don't know all of this for sure yet

I'm certain the 3DS version will have a new DK stage.

Perhaps...

I'm actually wondering if the reason we've yet to see a new DK Stage is because it's gonna be Gangplank Galleon.

But I wouldn't put it past Sakurai to cheap out on certain franchises in some versions and just re-use levels. He did it with Sonic, and Mega Man (well, not a *new* stage per se).

Really wish they were doing a worldwide launch for the 3DS version like they've done for Pokemon in the last year. Game is going to be blown open a full two weeks before NA, EU, and AUS gets it. Japanese version launches this time next month. Smash Bros. is that one game I'm contemplating importing a JPN 3DS for.

Personally, I just don't care about the 3DS version, I just consider it like an early access or some sort of stuff like that (In addition that I also don't have a 3DS). The only good thing to come about it for me, is the list of all playable characters, I just want the Wii U version to come soon and have all the great content

Has it ever been stated anywhere that character-specific BTT stages were removed because of the larger roster?

I would have thought it had more to do with the fact that there was a massively extraneous single player mode that ate up a lot of development time and resources as well as disk space.

Maybe they will use one from returns or the country trilogy? Since country is on GBA and Returns on 3DS.

It's possible! DK's had a fair number of different handheld games though (DK 94, Jungle Climber, King of Swing, etc.), so it'll be interesting to see what it'll be based on.

And now that I think about it, I actually wouldn't be surprised if Events/Stage Builder were kept exclusive to the Wii U version.

Yes!!!!

You deny your weapon its purpose

pleaaaaaasseee no

even as a kid I could tell that and Australian Rick the Hamster were bullshit, along with this terrible opening

I don't get where do you take this?
I'm not expecting the Stage Builder anymore. I could see the Events being only on the WiiU version, I don't really care about Target Smash if it's ass like in Brawl nor Board The Platforms. New DK stage is guaranteed on both versions.

Eh, the things listed aren't that bad of a loss to me. Maybe the Events, but still.

Plus, given that we're probably not getting a DK newcomer, I wouldn't be surprised by the lack of a new stage.

So are there any funny leaks that Meta Knight's confirmation blows out of the water? Were there any relevant leaks that had Meta Knight cut?

I really can't help but wonder if this could be the start of a final month blow-out with tons of vets and stages revealed...
There was one leak that was good and serviceable until the end where Meta Knight was cut because Sakurai was ashamed he was too SS-tier.

But this pic is more interesting

Because this leak got posted here too like a day or two ago and gained some traction even though it's fake as press on nails. It claimed that Hydreigon would be a stage boss battle. This pic is from the Elite Four stage during the Dragon Trainer's phase and it looks like Hydreigon along with Axew and Garchomp are just decorations.

It said he was a Boss in 3DS Smash Run, I guess he could be one there and still be a decoration in Wii U.

Looks like the biggest change to Meta Knight is he now has metallic guards on his hands.

I'm still thinking we didn't see a new DK level because Sakurai realized he hasn't shown one yet and today was packed as-is. Returns 3D strikes me as a game begging for a 3DS stage... Or at least those Mario Vs. Donkey Kong games.

Oh man, I actually stayed up last night, but was groggy when I woke that I forgot Meta Knight was confirmed! Love to have the guy back and, to everyone who wants him nerfed...why not just buff everyone else instead? :P

MK is cool, but the most exciting part of this update for me was seeing the Dragon types on that Elite Four stage. :3

What can I say, I like my Pokémon stages to feature Pokémon.
