Hyrule Warriors (Zelda Musou) Import Impressions

(;・∀・)ハッ?
The Japanese version of HW was released today so I thought that it would be a good idea to make a thread with impressions from people who already bought it.

I just came home with my copy:

The download costumes were 192 Kb.
Will post again when I actually play the game for a bit, so stay tuned!

Edit:
There seems to be a day 1 patch, I have no idea how big it is though. :(
Downloaded in under a minute, so it can't be that bad.

I'm currently playing Dynasty Warriors on PS4 and it has me interested in picking up a Wii U to play this. Can you use the Pro controller to play it? Looking forward to your impressions!

First thing that appears on the screen after the loading screen is a question if you want to set your game to Easy. Lol.

After that the game asks for your preferred control type - "Zelda Type" and "Musou Type". I guess I'll go with Musou.

I should be getting my Amazon LE in a couple of days. I have no way to play it but can certainly provide scarf, chest, and clock impressions!

Only the Legend Mode is available from the start. It looks like a normal story mode.
I guess I'll be playing as Link.
Huh. What's the difference?
No idea, there wasn't any explanation on that screen.

10 minutes into the first mission and yeah, it's basically your typical DW game in a Zelda setting (surprise surprise). There are some neat twists on the formula - getting items from chests that enable you to access previously inaccessible areas, magic bar that allows you to do a sword spin.
There's also no voice acting. It's all just text and those weird sounds that characters in Zelda games make while talking.

Free Mode, Adventure Mode and Gallery all unlock after clearing the first mission on the Legend Mode.
You have to unlock all characters as you progress it seems. Mission 1 in Legend Mode unlocked Inpa.

I'm guessing my original theory
that she and Lana are two halves of the same person
is correct?

According to those who have watched and got the spoilery parts,
Lana and Cia are the same person, with Cia as the "Dark Link" to Lana's "Link". Dunno how that works, but that's the gist of it :p

You got it.
US version will elaborate better.

I've played the first mission again in free mode (didn't know you can coop story missions) together with my gf and while fun, it felt a bit buggy. During the fight with the first boss she looked as if she was just standing there on my screen (the tv) despite actually hitting the monster (on her screen, the gamepad). This only happened once though.

Well, I seem to recall one of the earliest details about Cia being that
her good soul was forced out by some evil power, so I bet the goodness that was forced out became Lana
.

Does the game allow you to post a pic on miiverse and upload it to the internet? assume it does but you never know as capcom did it.

People are going to ask what difficulty you play on.

....so what difficulty are you playing on?
Normal and it's really easy so far. Don't think I've had less than max - 3/4 hearts at any point so far.
Sheik unlocked after the 2nd story mission!

Yeah, I saw part of the Gametrailers stream and normal seemed way too easy

Even though this will be my first Warriors game, I may jump straight into hard

I hope you post lot of impressions. I'm still on the fence because the direct made the game seem so braindead; enemies just standing there, combos consisting of just YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.
It's not Nintendo
It's KT

Exactly. It's what Koei's been doing for years, now.

My Treasure Box was shipped out from Osaka earlier today. I'm guessing I'll have it by Friday...
Nintendo is just as guilty as KT; they own the IP and I'm sure they could have easily strongarmed KT into not doing on-disc DLC. They just didn't care.

That's not a very fun way to play a Dynasty Warriors game.
