Witcher 3 Collector's Edition getting exclusive physical content on XB1 [CDP Comment]

But the game is still on parity between all platforms. The CE just has some extra physical goods on one platform, with no bearing on the actual game's content.

Doesn't matter they spent quite a bit of time talking about how they believe in parity across all platforms. Even if it isn't in game content it still goes against that. Don't get me wrong they are free to do what they want but it's kind of funny that they made such a huge stand on parity and then drop it so easily.

Way to spit on the face of the platform that the series called home.

I doubt CDprojeckt had much of a say in this but it's still not nice to see.

I would have considered buying the CE if the PC version had this many extras.

I think the resell value of the map and cards might be high. Lots of hardcore PC Witcher fans... Wonder how limited it is.

There is still parity though. If you buy the game on Xbox One and I buy it on PC we are both getting the exact same game.

People love to complain. This isn't even as bad as having exclusive content for diablo 3 for ps4 or very long timed exclusive content for destiny. Those games still cost the same on every platform despite getting less content in some. Paying to help add extra physical stuff to your platforms CE doesn't seem all that evil although it sucks for the people who are getting other versions.

that content is based on Sony ips though

Good, this is how exclusive-"content" should be done. No locking people out of certain parts of a game(including timed), everyone gets the same game.

so does destiny

In game content exclusive stuff has been running rampant for years don't act like its new on the PS4 there are games where it seemed like devs could give a shit less when it came to content on the PS3. Skyrim and GTAIV are just two of many examples. But I cannot remember physical stuff ever being withheld from CE's. It may have been but I cannot remember it. I buy a ton of Collectors editions as I like to collect junk so this is a slap in the face to people with similar collecting habits.

It was all their decision just like being on stage with Microsoft after they had announced their original DRM heavy plans.

A missing cloth map and two decks of cards kept you from pre-ordering the PC CE? Just asking because I'm not entirely sure that the difference is that clear. Probably should be highlighted in the OP.

Well that sucks, I'm going to get the collectors edition for PC not matter what but paying the same for less content doesn't sit well.

yeah THAT is shitty, but when its based on a first party ip thats diifferent

(FYI I played those AC and watch dogs missions, they were all shit)

Quality shouldn't be a factor though. Playstation games are getting a more complete product than Xbox gamers for the same price. It's no different to me.

These things are shitty but I don't think it's a big deal if it's physical things and the game is still equal across the 3 platforms.

Not if I buy the Collectors Edition then there is no long parity. Again I am not saying this is unusual or wrong I am just saying its funny because they made themselves seem above Ubisoft and others who do this. Exclusive content is exclusive content whether it is a digital or physical goods.

It's still extra content for the same price. And it's content that actually makes a difference in game. Don't see any reason why there couldn't be some Halo content or something in the XBO version.

I'm guessing its tied in part to the marketing, sony wanted something unique and asked them to make content that would be appropriate based on thier ips. MS did that with Sonic and Sega racing with Banjo being a playable racer too.

I am betting it is 100% CD Projekt decision.

I don't think you understand. Namco Bandai doesn't have decision making power here. They're not publishing the game. They're shipping it to stores.

Ah that's weird of CD Projeket then... and the price of the CE is still the same which is odd, may seem like a silly theory but any chance these bonuses were added cause preorders for the CE were lagging on Xbox One in comparison to PC and PS4? Either way as long as it doesn't become cut content that becomes exclusive to each format, that's okay.

But the games are the exact same. That is parity. Some bonus physical goods that mean nothing are irrelevant. Especially when it's only with the super expensive CE of the game. They are no where near as bad as Ubisoft.

oh yeah I get where you are coming from, but dlc like those dont even register with me anymore, 1 because as I said they are generally shit.
2 because rarely does it have any impact of the actual story a game is telling.
3 the content tends to be rather throwaway in general, like a bulletpoint to put on marketing to say this product is better with us when really it holds no real meaningful value.

I'd assume it's part of their marketing agreement with Microsoft: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...ev-vows-no-exclusive-content-for-any-platform

Eurogamer said:
"We are treating all gamers equally," Iwinski answered me.

"We'll not deliver exclusive content to any of the platforms, nor will we artificially delay release of the game on any of the platforms because somebody's paying us money for that. It's definitely against our values. We are not doing that."

And breathe.

"What we are doing in terms of marketing cooperation," he added, "you'll see that at E3."

Normally you get this in trade for exclusive in game content. Presumably they had to give them something, which is logical when someone is giving you money.

Probably not. They said from get go that they had a co-marketing deal with MS, so this is probably what that is. I'm sure MS wanted ingame content, CDPR probably objected to that, and they settled on some crummy playing cards.

I just lost a ton of respect for CDPR.

I trust that the prices for the other versions CEs will be lowered accordingly to account for offering less content now, yes?
Why would they? Last time I checked the xbox version of destiny is the same price as the Playstation version and it's getting less content at launch.

What is up with the double standards on this forum?

I am not saying it is as bad as Ubisoft but when a company spends so much time saying they are better than everyone else it looks worse when they fall in the mud. Also someone who really enjoys physical goods would probably find this just as bad as exclusive DLC.

So do you not believe this bonus content to be throwaway? I suppose it's entirely subjective but I don't really care either way. Then again, I never intended to buy the CE but I can imagine someone who was maybe being a bit peeved.

in this case no as it is an actual physical item/s that is being withheld from others (FYI I have the PC CE pre-ordered), a physical item always tends to have some value, and if you are a big fan of a series even more so.

This is hardly them falling in the mud. They vowed that they would never release exclusive in-game content and they have stuck by their guns. Even though MS let them on their stage at E3, which is a huge fucking thing for a dev like CDPR. I imagine erawsd is right in that MS wanted in-game content but CDPR refused. Although that's 100% conjecture.

This rubs me the wrong way. I'm paying $150 for the CE same as everyone else, yet I will never get this extra stuff. At least with digital content it eventually makes its way to other platforms at some point. I'm hoping they rethink this before hardcore fans get upset.
