Pretty sure like the other digimon (including himself) earlier on, the power would run out so he probably can't anymore. I wonder myself if regaining the power of the credits will play a key role in the new season.
As for the Dark Masters, I'm guessing surprise attacks allowed them to do it? I assume sealing them using some sort of digimagic (lol) so they didn't/couldn't put up a fight maybe.
edit: The 4th movie (revenge of diaboromon) contradicts it a little with Angewomon and Gabumon/Agumon warping into their final evos and then into Omnimon.
I swear, there's so much confusion between localization of names in the games and in the shows.
It's quite irritating on how they don't stay consistent.
Like watching Fusion this morning and seeing OmegaShoutmon changed to OmniShoutmon.
They had the friggin' Omega symbol and everything! But nope, had to go with Omni.
I would be happy if they show Taichi's new look.

I'd be satisfied with any kind of new visual for this. Or even some kind of statement as to other characters who will be in the series. I'm really wondering if they're going to have all 8 from the first season return or just focus on Tai and a new group or something.
It's been awhile since I've seen it but weren't a lot of the digidestined split up across the world (I know at least Mimi was in NY I think)? It'd be kind of annoying to have to work around them all being able to come together unless they do the whole computer thing from 02 again (which, ugh).

I hope it's Tai with a new group of friends. Hopefully not a massive group, either: the team of 5 in 02 was the ideal number I think, even if all the new kids were terrible.
I think Izzy HAS to be back, though. He's the best character.

Tai, Izzy, Sora and Mimi were my favourite characters from the original adventure. I only like Kari and Ken from the younger crew. I imagine we will be seeing both teams.

That was actually one of my favourite looks for him. But he'll definitely be older than that.

edit2: The group from 02 were chosen too right? Both Adventure casts were digidestined. Ken was part of the 02 chosen I thought? (in regards to earlier discussion)
The 02 cast minus Ken were chosen due to the need for new Digidestined that could save the Digiworld with the digieggs (due to the inability of older Digimon to digivolve through their Digivices until the Emperor was defeated).
Ken was chosen earlier on (and I think it happens in one of the games) as we see during the flash backs. He gets his own Digivice (which is normal before the dark ocean twisted and warped it into the Black Digivice) and his own Crest (which ends up being the thing to power his base until the end of the Emperor arc) so Ken could technically be considered part of the original chosen.
Though I consider him a part of the 2nd set of chosen. Not Davis' group but I like to think of it as 3 groups
Original: Tai + the others
2nd: Ken and Ryo
3rd: Davis' group
That's not counting the Digidestined around the world since they weren't shown as to when they got their Digivices/Digimon.
This is who should be back as the main team:
Tai, Kairi, Matt, Sora, Izzy, Mimi and Davis(I know he's disliked but maybe they can write him better) as returning characters while bringing in a couple new and maybe bring back Willis for some awesome Terriermon.

Going off previous series it probably won't air until spring or summer, so don't expect anything too substantial until early next year.
I though I read it was going to be Spring? Or maybe that was me thinking it while half asleep lol.

ah yeah I remember Ken having an OG digivice. I actually forgot that there were other digidestined than the ones in the adventure series. The 1st gen digidestined (Tai and others) can't digivolve with the eggs right? Doesn't that kind of put the 2nd group ahead of them in power since they have a lot more versatility? I should really go back and watch/read some of this again, I forgot how cool it was. I don't know too much about Ryo though besides the fact that Ken helped him beat Milleniummon or w/e his name was and that was when Ken was infected with the Dark Spores or w/e
I like Davis, and would like to see him come back. If Willis is going to come back though his Terriermon should be more like Henry's Terriermon.

That's because of Omnimon (OmegaShoutmon is powered up by the OmegaInForce which is the energy created by Omegamon). Makes me wonder why they changed Omegamon to Omnimon, since they never changed Alphamon.
Yeah, totally ignoring how likely it'd be I'd love to see Tai, Izzy, Sora, and Kari back from the first group and only Ken from the second. I guess I'd be okay with Davis returning if that means Ken comes back, but only cause Davis was the least awful out of the group of 3.
I really really really hope they expand on the lore of the digital world and the digidestined in the adventure and adventure 02 continuity. All of the plot stuff in the latter half of adventure about how they became the digidestined and seeing how Gatomon was separated and everything was sooo cool. I also really want them to show more of Ken's story and connect him more with the original digidestined more, and I hope to GOD we get to see Wormmon's (and everyone for that matter) full evolution line.
This would also be the perfect opportunity to bring Ryo into the story and connect him with Ken as well.

My only real wants are Tai and Izzy.
Who I don't want is a much bigger list though. No Matt, Sora, Cody, Yolei, Davis (tricky since I want veemon back, maybe write him better), or any of the "digi-destined around the world" bullshit please. To be honest though, if they can write any of those characters better, I'd be okay with that. Except for the digi-destined around the world, good writing would retcon that bull and the 02 ending.

Silly me. Yeah, it's planned for the spring.
Toei doesn't have such a hot record as of late. My optimism is currently low until they announce the director for it.
Technically TK and Kari can use the Digieggs they were given in 02 but really, the groups are as powerful as each other mostly.
Armour evos = Champion
DNA Evos = Ultimate
The two mains (Ken and Davis) DNA second evo = Mega. (which is comparable to how the two 'mains' of season 1 were the only ones to get megas in their season).
So yeah, I'd say they are as strong as each other, just in different ways.
Also in regards to the lore (since someone brought that up a few posts above), a few things I wouldn't mind being expanded on:
Dark Ocean stuff with Kari that got totally dropped (and since Daemon was sent to the dark ocean, he and the dark master digimon could be used as antagonists)
How Gennai became young (did they ever fucking explain this?)
How the original Digidestined got those D-terminals (again, ever explained?)
The original original Digidestined that Gennai brought up once in the original series? The 5 that came before iirc.
All of these I have been curious about at one time or another but I'm expecting everything to be ignored and to just continue the adventure with maybe one or two mentions of the Dark Ocean but that's it.

1. Dark Ocean and Demon better get concluded. Those are the most interesting plots in 02.

3. Pretty sure those were created solely for merchandising purposes. Though I guess you could say Izzy was such a genius that he created them.
4. That was something I was always curious about too. Maybe Qinglongmon can come back and explain? Unless the four holy dudes have been sealed again...

If Tai is supposed to be 17 then it seems likely the 02 ending will be retconned since it showed him as an adult.
the 02 cast has a lot more versatility though
Tai's Agumon can digivolve into Greymon (Champion)
Davis's Veemon can digivolve into Flamedramon (Armor), Reydramon (Armor) and ExVeemon (Champion). I think the strength of all their forms is pretty much on par with the Adventure 1 casts digimon, but I feel Veemon would be able to beat Agumon purely because he can employ a larger amount of strategies and battle tactics.
I would also like some of those plot points explained. I don't even remember a young gennai lol
I think I'm going to go back and watch Adventure 1 and 2 to refresh myself with the story and lore. Ryo is never mentioned in the anime right? Does the wiki explain everything about him and Ken?
edit: I feel like Paildramon also has more power than Metal Greymon because it's a fusion of 2 digimon, same for Imperialdramon v. War Greymon

The ending could still be canon, just the anime could be set between them. Though I've said it a few times that I'd like parts of the ending changed/retconned but ah well, we'll see if they retcon it or not.
Ryo is shown but never mentioned in the anime. During the Ken flashback episode.
The wikia does explain the general details on the respective Tamer wonderswan game pages or on the character pages/the page about the dark spores. Without looking at that, I wouldn't have known Milleniumon was behind the dark spores nor who the character was with Ken.

Didn't watch for a few days, but I'm back on Adventure 02.
I really like how they take the fact Cody and TK are DNA digivolving partners and not only acknowledge the inevitability of it, but turn it into an extended arc where they both deal with their own personal turmoil.
In any other series the characters would dance around it like they just have no clue what's going to happen next.

Yeah, that was quite a good few episodes. I even liked how in one ep during that arc:
During the whole BlackWarGreymon destroying stones thing, it looked like they might have covered the DNA digivolving in it but instead they took the opportunity to bring back MagnaAngemon which helped extend the small arc a bit more while they still dealt with their own 'personal turmoil' some more
