Even with my verizon fios home internet connection, I was never very happy with PS Now for action heavy games. It wasn't so much the fact that an input delay existed, but the fact that it was variable and I could never really get a handle on it. It was very small, but noticeable. For me, PS Now is going to be relegated to turn based games. That is, if they fix their absurd pricing scheme. But having loved the first Xillia game, I would probably bite the bullet and play it in PS Now if that was my only option.

I have too much of a monstrous PS3 backlog to ever sell mine thanks to PS+. And anyway, in recent years I have realized that I heavily regret selling back even the crappiest games and systems I owned. I am still so mad at myself for selling my N64 with two controllers that had perfect joysticks, Snowboard Kids, Super Smash and Ocarina of Time for like $50 back in the day.

I actually had no idea Xillia 2 was releasing so soon. Kind of wish they would let me preload it, because it is going to take like 14 hours to download on my school connection and this week is for once mostly free.

Well that's a damn shame. I haven't tried out PS Now yet. I too have Fios 80mb/s...sucks to hear. :(

I'll end up re-buying a PS3 Slim the closer it gets to Persona 5's launch. So I guess I'll pick this up then.

and of course, the writer of the description remembers it way more fondly than anybody else on Earth.

Yeah, I haven't heard about these before. How many are there and are they good and are they reasonably priced?

I'd love to see emulated games from official sources with the features you get in unofficial ones, like save states and such. Imagine tool assisted speedruns recorded on a PS4 and posted with the share features.

If only Persona 5 would have a vita version. I so much prefer playing RPGs on my vita because of suspend mode. What did you say game, I can only save at these designated locations? Jokes on you, I can just use suspend. I never understand people who say suspend/resume shouldn't be a big deal on PS4, it is actually my single favorite feature of the vita. I know people want something more fully featured, but if it worked exactly like it does on vita on PS4 I would still be happy.

Also, awesome avatar. I just rewatched that series with my girlfriend who isn't that big of an anime fan, and she loved it.

I am wondering how taxes work on PSN in the U.S. Is it case by case depending of the state? If the answer is yes, please tell me a state that does not charge taxes on PSN! Thanks, much appreciated!

Thanks. I've seen the anime myself 4 times. Just recently watched the Dub with my family (since they don't like watching subs). Was surprisingly good.

Yeah I agree 100%. I mean, Persona is so perfect on the Vita. Still bummed that Persona Q wasn't a Vita release. :( Although I have a 3DS. I guess on the flip side, it will be interesting too see what a console release of Persona looks like in 2014/2015. How much the new engine is improved.

I'm watching the anime in preparation for the SAO game but a quick question: If the game starts after episode 14, will watching the anime further be a huge spoiler for the game? And if so should I finish the anime or the game first? Or are they different/independent from each other enough?
I like the anime so far :)

I am pretty sure that the game is a "what if everything that happened after episode 14 in the anime didn't happen" situation, where the game is treated as a branching timeline from what happens further in the anime. I don't think you'd spoil anything by watching further, but you may get to know some characters better that could show up in the game so it might actually help.

Correct me if I'm wrong about how the game story works!

Nah you will be good. I mean, the story goes off in its own direction tbh. Just finish the first half (Episode 14) and you should be good. I've seen the anime front to back, and pretty much everything in the game is new to me (they just expect you to have seen at least half of first season).
 
I'm trying to get into the Souls games again after my unsuccessful first few attempts at Demon Souls (which I stopped playing partly because of its ugly graphics). Should I play Dark Souls or jump straight into Dark Souls 2? Which one is more beginner-friendly?

I wouldn't call any of them particularly beginner-friendly. But Dark Souls 1 is the better game, so I would play this first. Or go back to Demon's Souls. That's still my favourite.

Yes you can raise affection levels and go on dates with multiple girls. They even allow you to do things like holding hands with the NPCs while walking around the open world. They also have special cut scenes where you take them to bed (not sexual), but you have to raise their affection to trigger this.

There is side missions and other stuff related to romance too. Like I said the game is massive. I played it a month regularly and still am not close to being done. But yeah this game has romance/waifu stuff in it lol

I would personally recommend Dark Souls 1 first, as in my eyes it is the better game. Also, in a lot of ways it is simpler, so it is easier to get a handle on what you want your character to do and what you need to raise to make it that way. I have the platinum in both DkS1 and 2, and though I think DkS 2 is much better than people give it credit for, I still feel 1 is more enjoyable for everything aside from PvP. I got into the Souls games myself this past May after trying Demon's and Dark Souls 1 a few times each and not really liking them, but then the game clicked and since then I've logged 300+ hours into the series.
 
Looks like I'm going to only have a few trophies left for the P4G plat. Don't feel like grinding up 100 skill cards on this playthrough and I'm not confident I'll get HRF before this first playthrough ends. Plus there are a couple that are NG+ only anyway. But max social links, all books, 100% compendium is looking likely.

Sad times that I'm almost done though.
 
So Soul Sacrifice (Delta) is actually a lot funner when you're not expecting Monster Hunter out of it. It's like whenever you take a drink of Sprite expecting water, or vice versa. Neither is bad, but you don't want the trickster after the first drink.

That was a horrible analogy. Basically I'm really liking Delta since I know it's a different game.
 
Guys, I just finished playing an online match in Treasures of Montezuma Arena. It lasted for over 4 hours before I could not endure any more, and bowed out.. Four hours of swiping away at colorful beads (with no special items to help me either). It was epic. I wish I could have taken a screenshot of the final time of that match, but if you choose "give up" from the pause menu you don't get to see how long the match lasted. I thought my stubbornness and ridiculous will to survive would get the better of my opponent. But alas, they proved stronger in the end. My eyes hurt. Not doing that again. Ever.

You say this now, but then you go to take a dump and the only game that you find warranting playing on the porcelean throne is Montezuma, then you never get off.
 
Are there reviews of Counterspy? I'd like to drop the money on it, just based on awesome style, but I'd like a fun game too...

I thought it was a price error. Because €10 is actually a good price for a Vita game(with €5 for Kurisu DLC = €15 for a complete game :O). Welp. I'm going to wait when the game goes in sale on the EU store(hopefully it will not be €10 as discount price -_-).

Too bad Tecmo is slowly crawling away from supporting vita in west. No more physicals for musou - I guess they burned themselves out. I want them but don't have space for these 3gb games.

SAO:HF is a waifu game? For some reason I can't stand those despite loving me some Neptunia. I think Harvest Moon has videogame-dating'd me out.

This game takes the ideas and characters and humor of the original tower defense classic PvZ and melds it with a third-person shooter game. I think (and I admit I'm not very clear on this) that you basically have to conduct parts of a tower defense game while also stepping in to play parts of the defense by controlling a character. Something like that... it did OK on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One where it was console exclusive for a while.



The Last Tinker: City of Colors
Platforms: PS4

A self-described "whimsical, colorful platformer ... [m]ade by Germans", this is a platformer with good vs. evil and puzzles and parkour. I'm not really sure I can add more than that.



Kung Fu Rabbit

Crossbuy: Probably not.
Price: Estimating $9.99 (it's $4.99 on the PSV)

A fairly well-received platformer starring a rabbit, this game came out previously on a variety of mobile platforms and even our beloved PSV last year (July 2013). There's something about saving baby rabbits here, and also one reviewer compared it to Super Meat Boy -- so there's that too.



Tales of Xillia 2

Building from the story of Tales of Xillia, Tales of Xillia 2 is a Japanese RPG and the 14th title in the Tales series from Namco Bandai. It follows the story of Ludger Will Kresnik, from a family that has "the ability to infiltrate and destroy fractured dimensions". Something something, keep the world in balance. The original Tales of Xillia was localized last year, having been released in Japan in 2011. Tales of Xillia 2 was released in 2012, and was localized only this year.

Originally launched in 2003 as a Windows game, this is a top-down shooter in which you fight against hordes of enemies and survive by a matter of inches, reminiscent of Robotron. The PS4 version comes with 60 missions (up from the previous 50) in the Quest mode, and also includes a Rush and Survival mode. (It also has a Type-o-Shooter mode, similar to The Typing of the Dead, but I'm not clear on whether that's in the PS4 version or not. It should be, but life is sometimes unfair.)

I don't even know what this is. I've watched the video on Steam and I'm still not sure. I think you use different badgers to launch around the field, keeping in mind the gravity of the various objects on the screen. I think. *shrug*

The waifu stuff is side content that you don't have to do. There is some main plot stuff that is kind of fan servicey but its not common. So you don't have to worry about it. Totally optional.
 
So what's the deal with Hotline Miami? When does it "click"? I tried playing it a bit and it's just instakill dudes and I'm a not-instakill dude and I quit in like 10 minutes. I guess I'll give it a shot when it hits PS4 since I own it thanks to +.

Should click after the first hour. It's basically a fast paced maze game. Go balls the wall and be okay with dying. You have to take risks. Eventually it becomes memorization of the level and you start to strategize ways to tackle specific sections in the level as you start to memorize level layout and AI placement.

If you are timid or try to take sections of the level slow, you will die. But dying and quickly jumping back in and trying over and over is normal.

Why don't you download the original Soul Sacrifice, play for a few hours, and buy Delta if you like what you see?

You basically have a 60h demo on your download list. Use it.
