I actually said that they know who their fan base is, and clearly a lot of people care about the waifu stuff in this game. It has an appeal. But I don't agree that people that don't like that stuff can't still enjoy the game. Yes, there is some cringe stuff in the narrative (that you can't avoid). But it's no where near the bulk of the game. It's not embedded in the gameplay the way other fan service games are. In fact, you will go the majority of the game not seeing it. And if you want to explore the waifu/dating stuff, you certainly can (but it's optional).
The combat/loot and exploration in this game is massive. I do not think the waiuf/dating stuff (even the forced parts in the narrative) even come close to matching the core gameplay elements of this title. As far as why so many people are talking about it on here instead of combat...well it's because a lot of people care about it! Don't really see how that negates my points.
Unless again, you really believe that the waifu/narrative stuff is really that heavy to the point that it will turn off those that hate that stuff. I don't agree that it does, but that's just me.
