Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

So someone actually said Snake not being in Smash 4 wouldn't constitute him being cut. I give up.

Just so everyone knows, there is a gigantic, incredibly nerdy, and socially troubling difference between not caring if a character is cut and publicly cheering for a character to be cut.

Don't be that guy!

For some reason, I seriously doubt that you would be okay with that due to your reactions in chatroom.

i would be fine with it as its your opinion, as I said.

I wouldn't be happy myself with them not making it in, of course I wouldn't be. But i wouldn't call you douchebag for not wanting them to get in, or for you being happy they didn't make it in.

I'll cheer for Jiggs and Lucario to be cut all day.

Snake I wish would come back, but I have to admit he doesn't fit in at all and seems like a weird inclusion.

I will miss Snake if he's cut. Just as someone mentioned on the last page, Snake felt different to me -- like an outsider interacting with characters from other worlds. That's what I love about crossovers.

So... Gematsu...

There's a flaw in the logic here:

Notice the package never credits Sega here, despite being confiremd. Copyright notices are only for the characters appearing/possibly appearing on thepackage.

That was interesting find by someone in other thread.

Was gaf happy when snake got into brawl?

People were hyped about that, but again that was before NeoGAF got bigger.

I haven't implied or called you a douchebag. I'm implying douchebag as behavior itself.
Or should I clarifying my statement that people shouldn't be jerk to other people? I apologized for mis-using the term.

Am I the only one not surprised Snake isn't back? It was obvious when they didn't show him months ago. Not every third party can come back I'm afraid.

Damn, Snake's really not coming back. :-(

It's so weird seeing such a popular character cut.

No confirmation he's been cut yet. Companies credited seem to only refer to the ones on the box.

That said, chances are, he'd have been revealed by now, because he could have been used to aid marketing.

It's more about being hopeful. There's a good ton of people who loved Snake in Brawl. But a lot are also accepting the fact that his chances of returning are pretty slim.

If Snake is actually cut, I'm happy about it. I don't think he fit at all in the Smash Bros roster. Mega Man and Pacman are much better third party choices, IMO.

I'm not surprised myself about him being gone. I'm more surprised with people rather being positive about his exclusion.

So... Gematsu...

So...? I don't recall Gematsu mentioning Snake one way or the other...

It's a shame Snake's cut, though after Pac-Man was confirmed I figured he was gone. Three third-party characters seems fitting. So begins the brutal three weeks of tears and cuts.

...Any questionable 'leaks' gain credibility with the loss of Snake?

I actually have less issues with people calling out Snake for fitting in Smash.

However, anyone who tries to criticize his Brawl moveset as "boring" or "terrible" is a horrible person.

Sakurai did an amazing job creating a unique and fun moveset for him that didn't rely on the need of guns.

I'm not sure what's more disappointing, the strong implications that Snake is cut or the crass behavior of SmashGAF in the wake of the revelation.

Mega Man Legends was on N64.

Well, we did get Legends ported to the 64, and don't forget Legends 3 was intended to be Nintendo. :P

:(

Actually, I forgot, there were a few Battle Network games released for the Wonderswan Handhelds, but they were side-entries iirc.

Yeah, I always forget about Mega Man 64 since it was such a crappy port of Legends. :P Thanks for the reminder!

And yeah, I thought about Legends 3 but ultimately didn't think it should be counted... as much as that hurts.

Ridley finally being announced/deconfirmed will be one of the best highlights to ever come out of the online Smash community.

"Pic of the day. Here's Ridley, who triumphantly appears as a major hazard in the Pyrosphere! His model wasn't quite finished back when we aired the Smash Bros. Direct, which is why we only showed you his shadow then. We hope the wait has been worth it!"

I'm gonna leave town the fallout would be of epic proportions

The internet won't be prepared for that kind of meltdown.

....that sounds a bit too perfect. lol I fear for the Smash interwebs...

You mean superior port ;-)
Yeah the voices were compressed but it was significantly better looking as it had anti-aliasing and no texture warping. Also it had actual analogue controls. I mean I'd personally choose the N64 version, but there are merits to both.

It was mainly ignored because it was released like 3 years later and without an RGB mod for the Nintendo 64 the PS1 could theoretically look better at points.

I still stand by the idea that his shadow was the 'Who's that pokemon?' of smash bros. It seems obvious to us, since we're on gaf, but I think it was more targetted at the casual nintendo fan who may or may not recognize ridley by shadow alone. Then neogaf just overthought it and chalked it up to 'sakurai trolling'

The more you think about it, the more it seems like sakurai was trolling us, but that's only because you're over thinking it.

It might just be as simple as it is on the surface, but everyone discredits that possibility.

The internet will be to blame for creating their own meltdown. Sakurai didn't troll anything, if he's not in. The internet trolled itself.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. The deconfirmation would be a lot better if they didn't already soft deconfirm him though. We know right now that it's more likely Ridley is just a stage boss on Pyrosphere. We just have a few hopefuls holding out, wondering why Sakurai would torture them like that. The answer is that Sakurai is actively trying to ruin the lives of everyone who optimistic. If his Smash Bros. efforts aren't enough, he will take time to individually evict each of you from your homes.

That is probably the evilest way for Sakurai to handle that de-confirmation. It makes the FYI look like child's play.
