By everyone I mean every sporting outlet.

Seriously, today the browns have a pre season game against the redskins, and every time Manziel does something I get a notification about it. It doesn't even have to be anything sports related. When he went to Vegas, all I saw on ESPN was "Johnny football goes to Vegas" etc.

What's the obsession with this guy? geez

I don't know but I hope he eats a sack in his first drive that knocks him out of the season. Is it too much to be humble when you make millions?

ESPN
(Entertainment and Sports Programming Network)

They always latch onto a big story and run it into the ground. He's on the Browns though, so expect him to lose alot.

I hate Manziel more than ANYONE on this forum (ask NFL GAF) but you NEVER wish an injury on a player.

Because Tebow was a failure and America needs a white hero in the NFL. Yeah, I said it.

What is it with the subject of white people on GAF? It's like the other thread about how there are no surprises left in life because of our constant app usage, and some random poster just goes "LOL WHITE PEOPLE!!!"

It's as if white people are the most special, important people on the planet and need to be mentioned as much as possible.

The guy seems like a giant asshole. And not the Richard Sherman kind, where people equate being intelligent, confident & Black with "acting thuggish".

Where's that photo of him rolling up a dollar in a club bathroom?

Because he brings ratings and money. It gets people like you talking about him and espn. Now everyone who reads this thread is intrigued about this manziel character. So they google him and the first result is probably an ESPN article. They win.

ESPN desperately wants the NFL to be like the NBA where they can heavily cover 3-5 personalities and it is sufficient to drive the narrative for a season. It's cheaper that way. Why spend the money trying to cover 30 teams when you can send 1 beat reporter to cover one guy?

Unfortunately for them, the NFL will never be the NBA.

As for Manziel, I'd say his ceiling is somewhere between Tim Tebow and Doug Flutie.

Except they've got Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, ...

The real reason for the hate? Johnny Football is an awesome, awesome main event heel. That's why.

Don't Worry, He'll flame out just like every first round QB pick the Browns have drafted.

Tim Couch - Bust
Brady Quinn - Bust
Brandon Weeden - Bust

Not a first round but still a bust - Colt McCoy

Reading through your post I was hoping you wouldn't mention Colt. Then there he is. :(

Espn needs to have someone be on center stage. First tebow, then rg3. Now Manziel another Heismsn trophy winner, he's been in the media a bit (yes he's made a couple mistakes) so espn is trying to label him as a "bad boy" that can play. They have their own agenda to push like most major networks. Then we have a couple ignorant sluts who just want to hate on him based on espn reports.

Seems a lot of ppl are butt hurt for all the media coverage he gets, some people like to to act like he's the worst person in the world. But I guess you'll get that with the nonstop espn coverage

Also major reaction over preseason games, omg he's a bust. Can't run a complicated pro style offense after a couple weeks. Zomg bust.
He's still learning, give the guy some time
