PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

No problem. But yeah, people have slammed me before but I've taken the stance of waiting until the second game to think about buying games from this genre (SS, Toukiden, etc). The second one is almost always a lot better, and fixes a lot of problems of the first one that they say couldn't be fixed with just a patch. I'll do the same with FW, hoping that it eventually gets a revamped version.

Of course, the revamped version are better. And IMO, people should buy the first game unless there's already an enhanced version announced.

The problem with Freedom Wars, though, is the fact that from the onset, it felt as if they developed it as half-assed* as possible. And then there's evidences/suggestions pointing to "this will get expansion!" scattered on all fronts possible.

AFAIK, they also have not released any info on what "Update 2 - Ideology Fight" actually is (Update 1 is PvP). At least I can't find any info.

*I used some strong words, but some stuff really felt like "yeah, this is good enough" kind of work and they didn't even try. :(

Are you talking about the main game or the post story content because as far as I understand the ppl in the FW OT, the things they don't like with the game is how the game is designed after you have completed the games story?

Both. People just see the problems more after they finish the main story, since it's very short.

Shit, wrong topic. Sorry.

Anyway, I had high hopes for Freedom Wars, sigh.

Yeah I had no idea people didn't like it. This was actually my most anticipated game and to hear that its boring, short and heavily flawed is well..crushing. :(

Was all excited as I woke up to a release date, now im all sad.

Whatever they are they will likely release in 2015.
They will most likely be generic otaku pandering BS featuring moesluts and loliwhores.

I kind of remind this reference. It made my chuckle. I don't remember who posted it at first though.

The PS4 is doing extremely badly in Japan so far, so it would actually be in Sony's best interest to focus on PS4 for TGS.

Hey, going by Sony logic they should just drop it and never mention it for the whole conference.

I'm sure PS4 users in Japan are core dedicated gamers that are informed about its upcoming line up. So there is no problem if they don't show nothing!

People where bashing soul sacifice as well when it was new and that game turned out to be one of the best experiences I have had on my Vita. There have been a lot of "glory talk" in the SOA HF OT until last night when eveything suddenly started to focus on the translation.

People tend to hype up every game to a point that noone will be able to enjoy anything, take everyones opinions with a grain of salt. :)

So why did you not talk about Vita during the press conference?

Shuhei Yoshida: This is not the first time. E3... We've been focusing on talking about new titles on PS4. We do not want to extend the press conference for too long, and we had to limit the number of titles we put in the conference. You realise some of the new updated, that we believe are great titles of our titles had to be pushed out into a pre-show, like Bloodborne, The Order and LittleBigPlanet 3.

We are pretty happy with games coming out on PS Vita and the games that are in the pipeline. PS Vita gamers are pretty core, dedicated gamers. They seek information, so we trust them to find out about the games coming out on PS Vita.

Good guy Yoshida, he knows we know already about those games so he's not wasting our time.

Yeah I get what you mean. Still disheartening. But of course ill wait and see and decide for myself. I guess I just had high expectations for this one.

How can one find Dead Nation boring is beyond me. The game is filled with action unless you play it on easy, then all games are boring.

It is the best Housemarque game by a long, long shot. About to start my fifth playthrough on Vita.

Using the rifle is the most tedious thing I've ever experienced in a dual stick shooter, and it takes the majority of the game to get to the point where you have enough guns and ammo to primarily use actually fun weapons.

It's not an entirely awful game, but I can't play it from scratch again. If Apocalypse Edition carried over my crap I might try a hardest difficulty run with all my gear, but I can't play with that stupid rifle for half the game again.

is it worth spending 12USD on Devil May Cry HD Collection (I'm basically selling my physical to change to digital)

think it was 9USD before :/
but would it go on sale again? knowing Capcom

The Vita Directs again?

They probably just rely on Playstation Blog and Twitter to do all the Vita legwork at this point

They do actually do adverts and Marketing pushes in Japan at least

Maybe this is just where the Vita is going to stay. Underground being fed content from Indies and Japanese companies

An hour footage of the US/EU localisation of SAO. Translation has obviously used the Asian Version script as a base. There are loads of broken English grammatical errors and typos carried over, quite disappointing. Game itself still looks great but that localisation sure is a let down.

Looks like I've made the right choice of buying the physical release rather than waiting. My 16gb mmc lives for a little while longer.

One more reason to import the asian physical version.
Well yes and no. I'm totally digital on Vita besides games that are Japan only, and I do want to support the game being released here but it's just such a let down. They really didn't put in the effort to make this a good localisation at all, and I can see it having a pretty big impact on how the game is received over here.

What a shame. I'll still grab the game but I really expected better standards from Bandai Namcos Western Branches.
how I hope One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 Vita was localised.

how's the Omega Red game?
It wasn't unfortunately :(

And Unlimited World Red's a fun beat-em-up, bit different from Pirate Warriors seeing as how that uses Musou as a base but I enjoyed Unlimited World Red a bunch, so much so that after doing the main-game I did all the side-stuff and got 60+ hours out of it. The main game itself is short though, but if that's not off putting i'd say it's worth the purchase.
Freedom Wars will be €29.99/ £24.99 in Europe/UK.
Hopefully it's around $45 AU judging from the European price, which would be great.
Good guy Yoshida, he knows we know already about those games so he's not wasting our time.
It's nice to know he cares so much about Vita owners.

I have SS:D in my cart right now. I don't know if I can do it though, a combination of my enormous backlog and I've been so burned by my purchases going PS+ right after.

So random question, if I bought the Hotline Miami PS3 version right now, would it show up in my PS4 library for download? Should I just wait until it hits the PS4 store today?

Wow, Sony certainly seems to be giving The Last Tinker as little fanfare as possible. I still cannot find a price for the game, and it isn't listed anywhere in the coming soon area of the store. :(

A bit disappointed by the SAO localization, will probably skip for now. Just one more reason to focus on FFX, I guess. Hopefully my opinion of Tidus really does change. :/

Yeah I'm really disappointed in the effort given to the game. Seems like they just brought it over for an easy profit since the Engrish translation already existed. The gameplay looks good enough that I'll enjoy it anyway but it could have been so much better if it were treated properly.

It's retroactive cross-buy so if you buy any version now you will get the PS4 version when it releases (barring any PSN issues or whatnot). Unless there is a sale on Hotline Miami currently going on that I don't know about you aren't missing out on anything if you wait a day or so.

I have a question, I have funds in my US PSN account and I want to add funds to my JP PSN account. Would I lose my money in the US PSN account if I add to my JP PSN account?

I don't know what trailers they made for the ENG release, but keep that expectation down. Especially about the worldview and the story-telling. And unfortunately, the characters, too.

I usually don't like commenting on the characters/story since each to his own, but this game has practically dropped me on air a bit too many times. Despite the fact that not only the trailers, but also the game itself has set those expectations.

The funny thing about people's "hype" on this game is that... some tried to deny some bad things that's said about this game. Remember that Japanese youtuber who had a video of "unreasonable stuff in Freedom Wars"? (I think linked on a Kotaku article) People was mostly angry and said he just sucks at playing. Yet, quite a lot of the things he showed actually has some validity. Especially at that time. They were hard to see, but people who knew about the animation and controls in the game would easily understand.

Who's bright idea was it that you can get hit right after the revive animation finishes?

Yes, you can go from dead → get revived → revive/standing up animation → get double-hit by missiles RIGHT after revive animation finishes. And when you're double-hit by missiles, you're almost guaranteed to be dead (again). Yup, no room to get out at all.

I've seen many people who haven't played it try to downplay the bad feedbacks, yet none of them have ever felt to be ping-pong'd to death by that highly spammable delayed sticky grenade launcher.

You're guaranteed to see glimpses of hell if you only play single player in FW. Multiplayer and weapon strength change so much about the difficulty of this game.

People have been talking about it since the Asian Version came out with Engrish, this makes little to no difference.

Not to you, but I'm sure the entity who set the embargo time won't be pleased. ;)

On a side note, I'm finally done my Akiba's Trip review and can move on to beginning my SAO write up :)

No.

No.
If it were a higher profile game which the public knew less about they would probably be more annoyed, I can't imagine them caring too much about SAO's embargo breaking when they didn't even care enough to properly translate the game :/

If they didn't care, they probably wouldn't set an embargo...

Such a shame that SAO NA release didn't get a better translation. Since I imported it ive kept my head in the sand with regards to its localization. I just figured it would have been better. :/

Still, I hope those that buy it end up enjoying it, despite this flaw.

Is there anywhere that I can find the reviews for SAO, since the embargo is down? I don't go to the OT because I'm not at episode 14 yet, so I'm afraid of being spoiled.
