Hmm, I have no prior experience with Pro Wrestling, but the idea of a character that only fights with holds, throws and grabs has always intrigued me. I think I'd be down but only to see the execution of such a move set more than anything else.
 
Judging by screenshots, his game certainly reminds me of Punch-Out. I could see Sakurai having fun pitting him against Little Mac in a CG trailer and screenshots. A full fledged grappler character would be fascinating to see executed in Smash Bros.

I like the opening touch.
Cool. Again, another thing that makes me realize how close the game is.

The commercial itself is very plain though. Just reuses the CG trailer stuff and shows a touch of gameplay. Still, the CG stuff does look great and gameplay isn't a bad choice for a commercial or anything. Just feels way too safe, and has nothing new for those that follow the game (though that's probably not the target audience for a commercial.)

I hope the game's intro doesn't just reuse those trailers. I know it's gonna. :(

I'd love a full grappler-dedicated character who relies on pressure to punish shields or air dodges. I feel Donkey Kong, Ganondorf, and Bowser don't really come close to the Zangief-esque grappler that I want to play as.
 
What I really like about the short outfits for ZSS is that the tops match the games the outfits come from and aren't just recolors of the same top. It's a really nice touch.

Sounds good to me.

A lot of good pikachu's fur is going to do against fire attacks.
A lot of good peach's dress is going to do against koopa shells.
A lot of good megaman's robot shoes are going to do against spikes.
A lot of good marth's crown is going to do against lances.
A lot of good Fox's Jacket is going to do in a Landmaster.


I knew mario used his final smash in a commercial, thanks for finding it. Great parallel.

I was looking at the item description for the 3DS Smash Bundle on Amazon UK and it seems you'll pass on Mii data, custom movesets and high scores via StreetPass.

That sounds pretty cool. Was it ever mentioned elsewhere?

I've asked this before, but why are Zero Suit Samus's animations so weird? Even Sheik looks less flexible.

Because you are comparing still shots of various animations at varying frames when the said characters will be moving at the time. Exaggeration is required in animation, especially in games like Smash that have a lot going on on the screen at once and normally viewed from a distance.

Animation frames aren't comic book panels to be scrutinized like they're still pictures.

I guess. It's just strange how noticeable it is with ZSS compared to, say, Captain Falcon.

Honestly, I’m going to be disappointed if Lucas is cut while Sakurai and his team managed to include “extra content” like the ZSS costume, Lucina, and even custom special moves for Palutena. I’d prioritize returning veterans over all of those things.

The amount of work required for a new skin or a clone is not even close to the work to add an additional character.

Well yeah, but now everybody's going to remember you as that guy who thinks that jogging outfits are skimpy, even if that's not what you meant at all, simply because a lot of people can't read OPs.

Honestly, if you never really noticed it for most of the characters in previous Smash's I doubt you'll notice it in regular play in the new ones, because the others had it in spades.

Maybe you're noticing it more with Zero Suit Samus because she's has a more exaggeratedly curved feminine form and it makes the contorting more noticeable. Or maybe Sakurai just likes posting pictures of ZSS in more contorted frames because of whatever reason.

...I just noticed in the ZSS picture you posted that regular Samus's calf is going through her thigh.

I don't see how bringing Lucas back is any more labor intensive than Lucina (a clone is still "an additional character"). Plenty of characters are reusing animations and voices from Brawl. Lucas would need a new model, visual effects, and balancing... just like Lucina. And I'm referring to the sum total of the bonuses -- it's not Lucina over Lucas that bothers me, it's Lucina and the ZSS costume and Palutena's custom specials.

Sakurai already emphasized that he can't promise that he would bring everyone back but I would like to believe that extra contents came in right after finishing everything that are on their priority list. Hopefully!

Yeah, not to mention different people being part of working on different things here. Someone making an alternate character model is going to take the fraction of the time and be done by entirely different people than something like programming, animating, and balancing an entirely separate character like Lucina or Lucas.

That's why I chose him to share. I have no experience with Pro Wrestling, but a grapple character would be awesome for Smash.

But this animation is so fast in the game that this blatant model clipping goes completely unnoticed and instead allows the animators to get away with more dynamic animations with more pop.

Unless you pause and look at it, of course, but that's been a part of Smash since the beginning.

I noticed this too going through the pics. Samus in general seems to have clipping issues with her shoulders. Her standing animation in Smash 4 actually clips through them while it didn't in previous games, so it might be even worse here.

Zero Suit Samus' alt costumes don't really required any skeleton program, so I would imagine that it is easier job rather than adding a veteran character. Also today's comment mentioned that they were reaching deadline so I'm pretty sure that they don't have that much times to add a veteran but they would have enough time to make a new alternative costume for a character.

That's why I chose him I share. I have no experience with Pro Wrestling, but a grapple character would be awesome for Smash.

Pro Wrestling was one of first few nintendo games that I played at my cousin's house. At first it was somewhat complication but I picked up quickly well. It was a lot of fun playing the game with family.

I don't like how close this game is to release. I would like to speculate on NeoGAF about the roster a couple of months more.

WEll, you can speculate which characters that have potential to become DLC characters in a month. :p
