Same. Going through that has taught me that even something that looks fake can be real; when your mind is looking for mistakes, it'll find them whether they're there or not. Not that this is definitely real.
 
I don't understand the explanation for this alleged leak. As I understand it, the leaker claims that these are pics being sent to the ESRB for rating purposes, right? Then why are they only pics of the menus instead of the actual gameplay? And why are they cruddy cell phone quality snapshots of the screen? Are the developers that cheap/lazy that they can't take a few decent screenshots to send to the ESRB?

None of this makes any sense to me.

I love Smash and will buy this game day 1 on my Japanese 3DS that I more or less specifically bought just to play Smash early (though I found many other advantages as well). I personally think this will be the best Smash yet, but it is very easy to nitpick considering the flux of information we get and Sakurai's relentless trolling.

I think it is too early to tell, but I must hand it to the leaker: this is certainly the most believable fake renders I've seen. Part of me thinks it's fake since we are a month out unlike the Pokemon XY leaks which were within a week of release, yet part of me thinks that the quality is so good that it could be true.

We only have 18 PotDs left, Sakurai needs to step it up with useful info. I will accept more sexy costume updates.

One of the reasons why I think it'd be fake. Even if you were to stretch it and say if when more characters/DLC characters were added to move characters over and Dr. Mario would be next to ROB for a classic "NES" character, Dark Pit is a lot farther away than normal Pit.

Yeah...

Kirby GB Dreamland (we haven't seen if it's actually Kirby), full view of N's Castle, or F-Zero. That's the only realistic new stages from the leak Sakurai would show since he won't reveal Gaur Plains or Magicant before their characters.

Some of those Melee and Brawl stages haven't been confirmed for the 3DS version yet. If they show up in a PotD, that could help strengthen the validity of the leak.

A build of the game was used to give footage to the ESRB. A guy took and leaked some photos on this 3DS.

Magicant wouldn't be out of the question. We saw Arena Ferox a good 5 months before any FE characters were confirmed.

So basically you love Smash so much that you're ruthlessly critical and overwhelmingly negative about everything you're seeing.

That...makes sense, actually. I know from following certain bands that the most vicious critics are often the people who love the band the most, have seen the most shows, and have sunk the most money into tickets and merchandise. The more you love something, the more disappointing its flaws will be to you.
 
I have no problem with Dark Pit and Lucina being playable/clones, Dr Mario is more of an "ehhhhhh" pick for me. Dark Pit and Lucina at least have fans who like them, both are also unique characters in their own universes that have great reasons to be clones it's literally in their story. Dr Mario is just Mario however in a different costume and that rubs me the wrong way. I get the logic behind it from a development and time perspective, but I'd rather have seen a clone like Black Shadow (so that Ganondorf could have his own moveset and people who liked that Ganondorf moveset could still keep it), Roy (as an Ike clone and way to bring him back), Impa (as Shiek clone), Alph/Louie (as Olimar clone), etc as they'd all be different characters in their own universe. Dr Mario would basically be this game's version of Dark Cole, only with a better down b special
 
Tonight's PotD will be a Pyrosphere tease, marking the one-year anniversary.

Leak looks fake to me. Why would they change R.O.B.'s default palette to the NES R.O.B. instead of keeping the Famicom Robot the default?

Magicant would be amazing though. Really out-of-left-field pic and would pretty much confirm this in my mind.

Magicant would be a sweet new stage but I can't see it being in there over Onett/Fourside as a starter stage especially with all the reused stages on this "leak".

Put me on #TeamFake. I really like that Duck Hunt Dog model and that had me believing it for a little bit when all we had was that render. Once the menus and everything else began to trickle out the inconsistencies added up and some of those veteran renders are questionable. Just can't believe it.

I do think we'll get the real thing soon, probably around the end of the month, and this certainly won't help people believe it then. :^P

Keep the Paper Mario hope alive Sakurai.

It's got the same mystic aura as the loch ness monster and bigfoot -- distorting reality around itself so that any photograph turns out angled and super blurry!

I can only imagine that if someone took a straight-on picture, the camera would just explode, killing the user.
 
I'm #TeamReal (add me, I've been too busy reading this topic for the past two hours to post). I think it could go either way but my gut is just telling me it's real. I'm open-minded overall. Honestly the only thing really convinces me on #TeamFake's side is the lack of names. Not only was that in the demo but that shit has been in every single Smash game up until this point. It seems like an odd decision to take that out. Otherwise everything about the leak seems legit to me.

And he couldn't be bothered to get a single mid-match shot? Despite getting such good pics of DHD and a couple other models, he couldn't get even a halfway decent shot of the stage select screen? It just screams fake to me.
 
Honestly, my biggest knock against would be the blatant view of the ESRB name. If he's leaking it, wouldn't he want to blur that out? I imagine the names are different for each person to limit this kind of thing from happening.
