they talked about wrestling in a very general way this week, explaining basic stuff and asking questions.

I can understand why people hate when Dan and Jeff go deep into a wrestling topic, but that was nothing like that

Isn't this the first time they really talked about wrestling on the podcast more than a couple of minutes since Dan joined GB? It's not like the Bombcast has suddenly turned into the Wrestingcast or anything,

You might as well ask why people can laugh, cry, get angry at or feel happy about stuff in fiction. Mostly because people can be empathetic to depictions in fiction or relate to that fear.

so i was ignoring story and character. and also thinking horror (as i'm imagining it, i don't know) is MAYBE a genre easier to disassociate from reality; in something like P.T. at least.

a mario game where you're introduced to the concept of a spiky goomba who will instantly kill you if he touches you, and are forced to explore an otherwise deserted peach's castle, would also instil fear.

but the lack of other enemies means that also has a suspenseful atmosphere.

so i guess you're right, people will still relate to that. but when i was playing P.T. i was only fearing the jump scares.

Doesn't change the fact that it's super boring and uninteresting (to me).

It was nice to have Rorie on, though I haven't heard any puppy talk yet! If there was a Giant Dogcast, I'd sign up for premium right away!

Jeff was too much blasé about P.T. "I dont have fear". "But I am not playing."

It was pretty painful to listen to. Everyone has opinions like that, but there's no reason to voice them in that way. It makes for horrible discussion. I feel the same way about wrestling, tv, movies, sports games, racing games, shooters, etc etc - but there's no point in saying "I DON'T SEE HOW THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE OF ANY VALUE TO ANYONE". Some things are just not for me, and if other people do like it, that's cool. I might not even understand the slightest reason of why someone would like wrestling, but whatever - their choice!

Me: "Rorie doesn't seem too bad, and an actual Android user on the bombcast!"
5 minutes later:
Rorie: "Eff Eff Ex on Vita.... Eff Eff Ex. Eff eff Ex 2"

Still listening through, but I found myself shaking my head in disagreement quite a bit during that Tomb Raider exclusivity talk. I was particularly surprised that they seemed to think that AC: Rogue is going to outsell AC: Unity simply because the 360/PS3 have more hardware sales LTD. It's become increasingly clear that the dedicated game-buying population has moved over to the new generation of consoles in droves.

Love the wrestling talk, keep it going. Better that than food talk. I listen to this shit at the gym, man. Bombcast always makes me hungry.
until they talk about actual fecal matter in emails

Installed and tried Ingress after hearing about it on the show.

I work in center city Philly and MAN, the place is lit up completely with nodes and portals and links and shit. It's crazy.

But Assassin's Creed isn't a hardcore series.

PS3/X360 have well over 100m consoles sold and a sizable portion of those would be people only really play a select number of mainstream series like the next Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed.

Wrestlemania 3.

1000w

Largest indoor crowd ever. Hogan vs. Andre. And perhaps the best singles match of all time: Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage.

you can't see a damn thing from up there. what a waste.

I'll put my $.02 and nominate the Razor Ramon HBK ladder match from WMX. Shit was intense.

Yup. We're around 15-17m on the current gen (not counting Wiiu) and 100m (not counting Wii) on the last gen. You gotta milk that last gen as hard as you can until the current gen is in a better place.

But look at the sales charts for cross-gen games, current gen seems to outsell last gen consistently.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see, but you already have ACIV on PS4/XONE doing about half the sales of the PS3/360 versions LTD, and that's for a cross-gen title, and when the install base was much, much smaller.

Then you have stuff like Watch Dogs which is already doing way better on current gen than last gen.

I may end up being wrong, but I don't see Unity being outsold by Rogue at all, especially considering the huge disparity their advertising budgets will likely have.

it was nice to hear Jeff with the reasonable logic as to why people would be annoyed with the Tomb Raider thing

Yeah. I was worried it was about to go in a very bad direction with Rorie's opening commentary of "let me just say that I don't care about this!"

Also oh ess ex

He's a monster

One of the things I've noticed most about Rorie is that he abbreviates everything to the point of normally having to be asked what exactly the abbreviation stands for.

Also he'll give advice or tell someone what to do and immediately follow it up with 'Or, whatever, you can do what you want, I don't know'. Every. Time.

I love Rorie really!

I love how he'll criticize something but then immediately say that its good for them that they are doing it. He did it multiple times in this podcast alone, but I can't think of any examples off the top of my head, it made me laugh every time though.

Him saying "AH" out loud as an abbreviation for the auction house made me groan.

I give props to Brad to trying to explain horror to Jeff who clearly hates fun.

I don't think horror games really work unless they make you give a shit about the consequences. Resident Evil had so much tension because if you died, it could be a big deal. There are a lot of horror games now where the death of your character isn't really a problem, so there aren't really any stakes, leading to less of a real investment into the whole experience.

But then again, I'm not really that into horror games, so don't take my word for much.

I always figured there was a wrestling link with Giant Bomb from day one. Their logo is a deer with a fucking luchador mask! The wrestling talk isn't new :/

It's actually kind of surprising to see people actively against it. Part of what makes the bombcast special is that they talk about other interests too. You can't just say "oh yeah talk about whatever EXCEPT WRESTLING", thats bullshit.
