Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

To the people who did join my tournament. What do you guys feel about this little rule that I just put up. ^^

"If a Sudden Death match occurs, play it, winner gets to choose the stage to fight on next. Which you then go into a 1 stock/3 minute match, which will determine who wins the match (note: you keep the same characters you had before the match)"

Super Bash Sisters Post!

Sounds like a pretty fair way of doing it to me.

No, not at all. The DLC claims are nowhere near as solid proof as the screenshots themselves.

Actually yes, same poster ID on the original 4chan thread, last time I checked. It's a weaker claim as it had no pic associated, but there you go. The statements came from the same person that posted the pictures.

Whether it's fake or not, this is an exciting time to be alive. If it is real I just hope the DLC is also part of it. Pleaseeee don't let that image be the final roster.

Still not sure where I stand other than if it's real, it's disappointing. I'm not too worried about the stages on the 3DS version since I'm not buying it anyway, but it would be even more disappointing if that were a sign of things to come with the Wii U version (and my disinterest in the 3DS version will start becoming disdain if the resources spent on the 3DS version caused the Wii U version to be gimped at all).

There are an awful lot of coincidences in favor of it being real though.

That's cool. The more the merrier :)

I'd rather have the ingame sudden death determine the winner as a more "authentic" method for the new game.

If everyone insists on using an extra match however, can that ever to sudden death? Lowest percentage wins? What happens if there's a tie for that?

So...what's going to be the Potd, in your opinion, gentlemen?

Ingame sudden death is stupid as an actual decider, honestly.

And the likely hood of the game going to timeout on a 1 stock 3 minute game with both players having the same percentage is incredibly low anyway, that's probably not going to happen.

I think this adequately describes my state of mind at the moment with all this.

The first argument is based on opinion, and the second argument is based on probability.

Since the game is brand new, for a tournament fresh out of the gate I would rather use the closest thing available to ingame features to give it all a fair shake. Items, all stages, sudden death, etc. I'd NOT want to use the same sort of tournament rules that would apply to Melee or Brawl until the game has been out for say, a year or two, maybe several months minimum.

Of course maybe there will be a different tournament that uses such rules, and I'll be happy to join that one too.

So, when/where do you think they will announce the release date for the Wii U version?

  • At some event/press conference around the time of TGS 2014 (Sept. 18-21)?
  • In a Nintendo Direct broadcast?
  • At the FY 2014 Second Quarter Financial Results Briefing (October 31)?
  • Announced elsewhere
I'm very eager to play the game with the community. I hope the Stage Builder will return.

Sudden death isn't fair, it puts the advantage on the character who happens to have to most spammable kill moves and quickest movement speed.

If you're bowser vs. sheik and you're at 12% whereas sheik is on 97% but it times out, you're instantly put at a disadvantage despite being at the advantage previously.

Honestly, it should only go to a tiebreaker if both characters have the exact same amount of stocks and percentage at the end of the game, otherwise the one with the lowest %age wins, that's the way it's always been done because it's the best way to do it, sm4sh being a new game doesn't change that.

It would if there's any data of the 5 DLC characters in the game.

Speaking of, would the DLC characters be one whole package or as separate characters?

I hope it's not like what Nintendo's done with NSMB2 or Mario Golf: WT, where it's separated with an optional Season Pass.
Just one whole package pls

Something just occurred to me about leak #3. Reposting the two relevant images:
(and a third one that's irrelevant to the point I'm about to make)

It's nice, isn't it? A great close-up shot on Shulk after he and Lucina won a team match. Couldn't ask for much more, since we've all seen Lucina by this point, while Shulk is brand-spankin' new.

But, uh, I have a question about it. If you look at the HUD on the lower screen, Shulk is a CPU - the player was actually Lucina. Despite this, Shulk is front-and-center, while the player's actual character, Lucina, is halfway off-screen to the left. Why is this? Shouldn't it focus on you if you won? Or is it focusing fully on Shulk because the CPU scored higher than the player-controlled Lucina did? Heck, even if that's the case, why, then, is Lucina not just in the background slightly where she's still fully visible, but instead on the edge of the screen?

I'm #TeamIWantToBelieveBecauseXenobladeRepresentationDammit, but this is kinda weird.

I suppose through a general Nintendo Direct...which could be the event around the time of TGS 2014. This year, Nintendo changed the pacing of the Directs: no bimonthly (if not monthly sometimes) general Directs anymore, but much more Directs for specific games and, so far, just the Digital Event and the Japanese exclusive 3rd party Direct as more general ones. So, I see a September general Direct as a good possibility.

And yeah, I suppose that would be the right time for unveiling Wii U version's release date. It'd be after the 3DS version is released in Japan and around two weeks before the release in the West.

Maybe it focuses on one character then changes to the other after they've done their victory pose or something?

Tomorrow's PotD: "Veteran fighters Ice Climbers are back!". The reactions in this thread would be amazing.

Second POTD: "Unfortunately, we couldn't get them in the 3DS Version in time for them to be in the game on the release date. Look forward to them as DLC!"

Leak 3 could very well be fake. It showed up with no explanation some time after the first two.
