Agreed. I get why people like them, I just wish it wasn't the only thing people bothered to make/post anymore.

To be fair the only reason to make a logo'd icon is if the game isn't on steam or the standard one sucks. Nothing has text-less as standard (apart from Evolution RTS), so everything's fair game.

That said if anyone was after any of the banners I've put up here with a logo on them, I'd be happy to oblige.

You could always put the logos yourself..as MachoSuave suggested, though ofcourse logos aren't available for some games like Mosby's Confedaracy for which I am still trying to find out a way to place text on LB's images for the game.

Edit: I noticed how crap the default Jedi Outcast image was. First I just fixed the problems with the default - slight need of sharpening, removing (C) and (TM) that were completely illegible and as such just looked like messy pixels:

Then I figured I'd try doing an original one, I think the result is pretty good:

Here's another case where I've had to fix an official grid. Before and after:

There's a block on the bottom right that is solid black while the surrounding area is off black. It's easy to miss, until I changed my monitor settings I didn't see it or similar, more egregious mistakes in my own work. The improvement that comes from replacing it with a matching color is slight, but discernible. As usual, I removed the (TM) which was again totally illegible due to downscaling. I don't like them in general, but the times when they're just a smattering of pixels that don't even look like anything anymore are the worst. There's also a tiny touch of blur in a couple of places.

Edit 2: Here's another one I just found. Blinding Dark, a game so dark that the developer couldn't even manage to use a true black in their visual representation of their game, instead using a muddy grey-brown that just looks like crap. When it doesn't sell, they'd better not blame piracy. My version is still a bit rough because I'm limited in how much I really care about this person and their game, but it's at least closer to the mark. FTFY.
