Every animal character that has fur in Smash also has fur in their own games:

The characters that don't have fur in their own games like Pikachu and Sonic don't have fur in Smash. It's that simple. Duck Hunt Dog has never been portrayed with fur so it makes sense for him to not have fur in Smash.

The DLC part pretty much covers any veterans left out of the picture
except Squirtle & Ivysaur
, so I don't see the issue.

People would never have expected Brawl to drop Mewtwo, or to have Fox, Falco, and Wolf sharing the same Final Smash. When these things leaked people declared them immediately fake and went to great lengths to prove that they're fake. The same thing happened back in the day for Melee, with Doctor Mario in particular. They wanted one of the other, more optimistic, more ideal leaks to be true.

I think that's what we've run into here. Whether this leak is real or not, it's the "uncool" leak, the one that does unexpected things that people are getting upset about. The one that doesn't have Ridley and King K Rool and all that other stuff people have been hoping for. Instead it has the Duck Hunt Dog and Doctor Mario.

It's Melee/Brawl all over again. It's a cycle we're used to seeing by now. The disappointing leak is usually the true one.

But we still need proof.

I don't remember anyone being surprised by the Brawl leak other than not wanting it to be true. I recall quite a few people calling Mewtwo getting cut and replaced with Lucario long before the leaks started coming in, ironically!

I know it's a pretty typical cycle with leaks where people act all in denial, but I want to have hope! I BELIEVE IN MY CLIMBERS!!

No, that doesn't explain it. The UI overlapped into the bottom screen, which shouldn't happen because the two screens are spaced apart on a real 3DS.

Can someone please repost the CSS leak? Everyone keeps talking about it, but it hasn't been posted or quoted in ages, so for casual lurkers like me it can be a little frustrating not having a visual to go with what people are talking about.

They're afraid of it being true. It means a character they didn't want makes it in, or a character they did want doesn't make it in.

I bet the people on 'team fake' who would be satisfied with the 'leak roster' is a much much much smaller number than team fake.

Please don't get defensive about what I just said ;p

The only thing that slightly shakes my firmness in #TeamReal is the shittiness of Ganondorf's icon. And that he looks a bit too close to TP Dorf.

I have no problem with the leak roster at all, though the cuts and lack of Rhythm Heaven characters would be disappointing if the DLC is fake (and given the presence of Ice Climber and Rhythm Heaven content in the game already, I have a hard time believing the leak is real but DLC is fake and Ice Climbers are gone for good).

I just take leaks with a grain of salt by default (though the Tomodachi Life thing makes things waaaay more interesting). I've been burned in the past! It'll be confirmed or broken very soon, so I'm kinda just at the "wait and see" point.

edit: oh fuck bowser jr though but it's not like i'm so appalled by the sight of him that i couldn't stand him being in the game

Leaker 1 and 2 are pretty much the same in my eyes, it was the same thread.

Leaker 3 I think is riding coattails, and the gameplay screen really looks like edited Brawl.

Because

A) The only thing convincing is the pictures, and not even all of them. What's to say the DLC part is true? There's nothing reinforcing the DLC part but some guy's words.

B) What's there to say how long it'll take to play as the Climbers and Lucas and Wolf if they are relegated to DLC? It could be until 2015 and that makes me sad as hell.

I'm not acting like this roster is the worst, Duck Hunt Dog would own and so would Shulk, but with so many omissions, I would prefer it to get thwarted so I can have dreams again. Also Dr. Mario sucks.

I'd be really surprised if Mewtwo doesn't appear even as DLC, given Sakurai went out of his way to play along when the question was asked in the Pokémon roundtable (he wasn't even the interviewed one). I'd be even more surprised given how he humored that IGN reporter about Pac-Man.

The G&W render kind of bothers me. It implies that his render in this game is just his generic hopping pose.

I know you can't do a lot with a character like that but the previous renders felt more distinct. This is kinda lazy.

Also of note about the leak, most people are disregarding the DLC claims. The images are supposedly all from a single source and distributed to other people, so anyone who has the images knowing the DLC plans is highly unlikely. Possible but very unlikely.

Anyone can type up a list, but those images are much harder to fake.

Still believe the five remaining characters, if true, are Ice Climbers, Wolf, Lucas, Chorus Men and Mewtwo. Whether that's as DLC or not will have to be seen.

The ESRB would have to know of the DLC anyway, so it's not impossible. Plus as you said, the leaks were in parts, and "MOTHERFUCKING LEAKER" probably just covered both screens of the CSS & the DLC.

If the CSS screens are real, the chances of the DLC being real increases as well. It won't be guaranteed, but it'll be a safer bet than it is now.
