This is probably how he started off, similar to Lucina, and then they decided to add him to the roster. If it took little effort to go from alt to character then why not?

Even if it was just an afterthought, people will always gripe that it was a slot that potentially a real newcomer could have had.

The main argument for Dark Pit is his personality and charm, and while i agree that i liked him a lot in KI:U, most of that wont transfer over to a fighting game. I rather have a color swap of him and a clone of another character who doesn't look nearly identical to a veteran.

Anyway, the series that gets the shaft in Smash is Wario Land, even after Wario became playable.

Ain't that the truth. The only stuff Wario Land had in Brawl was Wario's overalls, his f-smash, and two throws. There wasn't even a tune on the WarioWare stage.

DHD doesn't even have a trophy in Melee or Brawl (there is only a trophy of two ducks). I don't know how he could go from being totally unrecognized to being a brand new character. The heavy fan-service is one of the biggest reasons that I don't trust this leak.

That's one of reasons why I doubt the leak. However Diddy don't have trophy in Melee.

Also there is a duck sticker in brawl.

I do also feel that DK is severely under-represented in Smash in general. Are there really no ATs? There should be a 3rd rep, I don't care whether it is Dixie or K. Rool. I think DK deserves it with having a platforming comeback with the amazing DKCR games.

With DLC, there's no "wasting slots" or anything like that. The slot crisis is over. This is just who they were able to finish before launch.

He wouldn't be a clone. With the way Pit's moveset is setup in Smash 4, he could have completely different weapons from KIU as his specials.

My opinion is more towards is design. Which can't leave from clone status.
That is what's bothering me. A alt costume for him though would silence my complaints.

Pit keeps white wings, Dark Pit keeps black wings. Pit with brighter colors, Dark Pit with deeper colors.

So like Pit gets pink, sky blue, yellow, and light green. Dark Pit gets maroon, deep blue, brown, and a forest green. That, combined with the wings being white or black depending on the character, would be a big enough visual differentiator.

It's definitely doable without too much trouble.

I seriously have the sinking suspicion that Diddy's trophy was one of the trophies Rare made for Smash that got cut. Leigh Loveday said on Scribes Rare made a ton for Melee that Sakurai didn't use. I'm willing to bet it was Diddy Kong Racing related.

It's not confirmed, but I think it's absolutely likely considering Mario Kart 8 seems to be set up to get DLC cups in the future.

There's no guarantee of DLC. Besides, instead of throwing in Dark Pit of all characters I'd prefer they spend that time and money on giving Toon Link a different special or two or making sure Falco hasn't different Final Smash or almost literally anything else

Now I'm very happy with how Wario turned out and I appreciated the Warioware content in Brawl, but the lack of any Land content aside from Wario's victory jingle was cold.

There's no reason the CSS couldn't have multiple pages, allowing the icons to remain the same size. Indeed, before this leak, the general consensus around here seemed to be that the CSS would have two pages.

As much as I love the gameplay of the DKC series, I think the character designs are utter trash.

I believe if DHD is playable, it has a lot to do with Sakurai possibly wanting to add a more realistic animal fighter to the roster. The only basis I have for that belief is his mentioning of Nintendog and Villager as characters that wouldn't fit as fighters. It's possible DHD allows for him to include an animal fighter that doesn't clash thematically with rest of the cast.

I never said I thought the rumor was fake, between the version of this rumor on Smash Boards a few weeks ago and now these images I'm afraid it may very well be real and it bothers me because the Dog is truly the first time I've ever felt a character does NOT belong in Smash Bros. It's not about if he'd be a fun character to play or not he simply does not deserve to be in Smash Bros and I'm afraid he will be.

The idea has actually grown on me. I don't think every character added means another one got cut, so as far clones go, he's fine by me. And, as my friend mains Pit and I have been wanting to get better with him now having played Uprising, I have a way to technically not main the same character!

Yeah I don't think they'll do anything like people expect, and I don't think DLC is that limitless. Sakurai won't suddenly abandon his criteria for decent characters just because he has spare time on his hands.
