Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

So the DLC part was only a way to snuff out fakers?

Sounds like it, if he's the same guy. Wanted to add false info to the real info so he could tell when people just reposted his stuff without sourcing it or if someone else had access to the same leak screenshots themselves.

However I'll say this again: We have no reason to trust anyone on Smashboards about anything they claim.

You might as well suggest they have Other M Samus as an Assist Trophy and 'Real Samus' playable, that ain't happenin'. Nintendo clearly considers Other M's versions of characters to be their modern incarnations and the proper designs for Smash Bros.

Well Other M Samus is still Samus. If you want to play that game use SA-X since that actually makes sense in relation to what I said. Sakurai already showed that he's willing to add different versions of characters into stages with Toon Link conducting the train.

He's a clone, but Other M doesn't really make a distinction between the original and the clone outside of him being reborn--he doesn't look different because he's a clone, he looks different because he was redesigned, just like every other character and recurring boss in Other M. They won't have both designs in one game.

Though considering Brawl didn't use Fusion's Ridley-X design, I think any playable version of Ridley would probably be mainly based on the incarnation in Super or Zero Mission, as with his prior boss appearance.

the mods have verified its him.
At the same time, the mods have been fooled before. The DLC part being fake as a means to lure out frauds is possible, but unless the original "MOTHERFUCKING LEAKER" comes forward on 4chan, we have no way of knowing it's really him.

Your main is your main for the game you main it in, there's never been any promise your main from one game will appear in the base package of the next. The idea of paid DLC is that new content is made post release and priced reasonably as a way of extending and growing the base, complete game instead of having to wait for another game to be released in order to access that content. So, in the fair world, if a character is cut from the roster it is done so for good reason. And if it is added as DLC it was made post-release and priced fairly. No game truly releases content complete. It's the artist problem: nothing is ever finished until you're forced to finish it, because creators will keep adding/changing stuff forever if left to their own devices.

That being said, all of this is subjective and I can see how it would suck to main a character that has appeared in most releases so far (like Ice Climbers) and then seen that character cut from the franchise only to be added later as priced DLC, especially if that price is unfair (something I'm not confident Nintendo has a full grasp of yet). And again, like Valve, I really think Nintendo would benefit from adopting a "free update" policy for Smash and Kart. Well, maybe that's not economically realistic as the Wii U takes, but you get my point.

Ultimately it comes down to the idea that "games as services" is a great philosophy when handled by producers/developers who have a respect for their audience. There's no reason for people to oppose the idea of DLC yet openly welcome another fucking game years down the road that, for most part, advertises new stages and characters as a way to differentiate from the last entry. Realistically Mario Kart 8 and Smash 4 are very, very similar to their predecessors, and the appeal is we get new tracks, new visuals, and a new roster. Everything else is gravy. DLC helps circumnavigate this compartmentalised release schedule by growing the product that exists now into something bigger and more beautiful. I adore the idea that I could buy Smash 4 this year and, in three years, still be playing it with new characters and stages that didn't exist three years prior. Same goes for Kart. These franchises would benefit tremendously from evolving content, in the same way many other fighters, shooters, and racing games do. If I'm happy to pay AU$80 for a new game a few years from now, I'll happily pay money for similarly bulk content (or drip fed over time) to grow the game that exists now.

But yeah, pricing fairness is a really big, subjective question mark that means different things for different fans, and it's easy for the audience to get "screwed" out of good content by unreasonable pricing. Amiibo is ripe for this, because locking digital content behind high priced physical objects is bullshit, but thankfully Smash doesn't seem to be going down this path (touch wood for Kart). In the end I do hope Smash sees DLC, and a lot of it. And I don't mind it priced, as long as it's fair.

While I agree that games like Mario Kart and Smash would actually work better that way, since the core gameplay remains the same, and its the new stages and characters that make it interesting, I doubt this is something Nintendo would do cause a service like model doesn't quite work for consoles cause they eventually get outdated and replaced by a successor, unlike PC which one can upgrade.

Ridley-X is a definite different thing than regular Ridley--you see the X copying Ridley start out as the Super Metroid design and then morph into the Ridley-X form. There's nothing in Other M to indicate that Ridley in it is anything but what he's supposed to look like.

well its those same mods who created the idea of duck hunt dog, bowser jr. and the others being in the roster in the first place so I dunno \o/

The point is that their word isn't absolute. They're only human & they do make mistakes, as they've done in the past.

Agreed, but I have a bad feeling we won't get another one until the game comes out in Japan.

And that's why we'll keep going around in this neverending circle unless we get some legit footage or more pics.

I'm just not easily convinced with what we got to believe one side or the other. Some parts look like they can't be faked cause of how legit they are, and at the same time some parts look so weird. I just....I just can't pick a side.

This is a GOOD damn "leak" lol.

Anyway, long story short, I still hold reservations about the SmashBoards mods "verifying" the whole fake DLC story. I'll consider the pictures & the DLC how I did before, two parts of one leak, & that the pictures still hold some more weight than the DLC list.

Cool, it looks like every stage in the 3DS version has a FD version. Pretty sure in the Smash Direct it said not all stages would. Or I was mistaken.

Ive been looking through the scans....anyone willing to make a list of the new things seen?

Here ya go, Dimitri LH:
Here's some of the clothes listed for Mii Customization, btw:

New stuff that I could find in the Nintendo Dream scans:

Part of me really thinks that a newcomer reveal was supposed to come on this following Monday, but they delayed it so they could edit the CGI trailer and absolutely obliterate the leak by revealing Ridley, Ice Climbers, Snake, Ness, and Lucas. They could make it like 8 minutes long just so that Sakurai's wife could have the extended pleasure of seeing the pain of those who thought she would design the menus so poorly.

I agree. Obviously their styles are based on current characters, but I feel like everyone forgets that nearly all their standard attacks are completely different.

Wolf, in particular's, standard attacks give him a completely different feel. I can barely even call him a semi-clone.

Yea, and in my mind, any character with a play-style that feels different deserves a space on the roster.
Sakurai please bring Snake back.

I was looking through miiverse. The picture made me want the master foot as the third boss after crazy hand. :P

But if Ness' render matches the one in the leak, the leak would still be confirmed to be real regardless of all the other characters.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if we got a Veteran confirmed, with the leak's render, on the same day that, say, Bowser Jr. shows up as an Assist Trophy? God what madness would ensue.

I honestly think Ridley won't be playable, regardless of if the leak is legit or not.
