FIREWATCH by Campo Santo to debut with Trailer/Gameplay/Q&A @ PAX August 30

So is this going to be in the same genre as gone home? first person exploration story driven game?

By the sound of it yeah. Be interesting to see how and to what extent they restrict exploration since it's a wilderness game.

Then again they have the Mark of the Ninja's lead designer working on this game so I doubt it's just Gone Home in woods.

"and probably accidentally break an NDA or two"

That's interesting. What kind of NDA could they be breaking? Maybe they've signed with a publisher or console manufacturer and can't yet tell anything about it?

However looks to be a really awesome game. Can't wait to see more. PAX will be a great showcase for indie games.

Looking forward to it.

They were being facetious with that I think.

I've had a Firewatch desktop background (the first image in the OP) since they released it, so I guess I'm pretty excited for the game.

I'm looking forward to the reveal... hopefully I like the gameplay.

That is what's kept my interest. An interactive story like Gone Home in a wilderness setting seems like a very poor idea and a waste of that setting in an interactive medium.

I like the Idle Thumbs guys so I hope it does well for them and the people who like these kinds of games enjoy it.

I guess it won`t be "Gone Woody"....but the sole premise sounds intriguing to me. If it´s done right, everything can work. Someone just has to do it. ;-)

found my new desktop wall (there's also an alternate one w/o the weathering effects at link).

Also, these shots reminded me of that kickstarter first person survival sim The Long Dark. Both look amazing.

yes, thought the same.

As a immersive plus -at least for me- in Firewatch you will have full body awareness...
you will actually see things done by your interacting hands etc...you are not just a floating camera...like in Ethan Carter...
this stuff always bothers me a bit, even if it´s clearly not a game breaker. :-)

Can't wait to see this.

Love staying in lookouts.

Here is one that I stayed in earlier this year:

In reality we will not be breaking any NDAs because we don't have any NDAs that prohibit us from talking about the game in the first place. I just put that bit in for fun. Hooray!

Forgive/bless my ignorance but because i don`t listen to any podcasts i`ve just realized that Idle Thumb is basically a Campo Santo loudspeaker, lol. Maybe i should change my mind...

How close in look and feel is the actual game in comparison to the artwork posted above?

Well, i hope everything turns out just fine for you guys/gals next weekend.
Game sounds really promising.

There were some animation testy on Campo Santo's blog and the character's hands looked like TF2's engineer's, but better. This got me mad excited for a single player game with TF2 graphics.

I'm so excited by this I expect to cry actual tears. I love Olly Moss so much. To be able to play his artwork (sort of).... I just can't wait.
