Unlock Lucina: Defeat all Intelligent Systems Miis in Multi Man Smash
Unlock Chorus Kids: Listen to the soundtrack in sleep mode for 20 hours
Unlock Pac-Man: Eat 1000 fruit
Unlock Sonic: Play 100 times with friends
Unlock Mega Man: Win ten matches for every Mega Man game ever released

I don't have an issue with this being a requirement for a trophy or something, personally. I just don't want it to be stages or characters, since those are what I'm always actively working toward. Everything else comes eventually.

Yea, I can see how that would be tedious. It'd be like if you had to unlock every sticker in Brawl or play 100 hours of multiplayer before being able to play as Wolf. Wasn't that similar to how you unlocked Mewtwo in Melee though? None of my friends were willing to wait for that long, we just left the game on, as I assume many players did.

Eh. Playing through SSE was the first thing I did so it was pretty easy to unlock all the characters.

That's what I hated. Getting characters through the SSE wasn't fun for me. And the alternate methods were all really uninteresting.

When I was a kid and everybody would constantly lie about characters that were secretly in 64 and Melee, you heard a lot of creative ways of supposedly unlocking them. I did a lot of stupid things as a kid trying to unlock Wario in 64, for example, or replace DK with Master Hand.

I think Event Matches, if they were actually good like Melee's and not a waste of space like Brawl's, are the best way to unlock characters. The circumstances are fun and unique, but also quick enough for the hardcore crowd to bang out the unlocks for multiplayer as quickly as possible. Need to unlock Toon Link? Play his event match, beat him in a 1v1, and you got him.

I can't wait to play like 1300 matches to unlock Mega Man

I'd be very surprised if that's not how most people did it, especially since Mewtwo was a bottleneck for G&W anyway.

Everybody I knew too would just leave the game on overnight. 99 stocks, three CPU, and then go to bed. Or four controllers, one stock each, and then just leave the house or something. Then the next day KO everyone and collect the total hours.

I'd buy it. Would you?

Well, somebody was claiming that Kirby was a bigger franchise than DK, so I decided to put this list together:

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D - 1.52 million
Kid Icarus: Uprising - 1.18 million

Total Donkey Kong franchise sales - 53.994 million
Total Kirby franchise sales - 33 million
Total Metroid franchise sales - 17.44 million
Total Fire Emblem franchise sales - <5 million
Total Kid Icarus franchise sales - <5 million

Come on. At least give us Cranky as a playable character, considering he was in Returns and Tropical Freeze. You can't use relevancy as an excuse for that one.

I don't even remember Brawl's aside from SSE and versus matches. Stupid SSE. :\

Melee and 64's were fun.

I love that Melee and Brawl give you multiple options though.

SSE was characters and for everything else the unlock requirements were loco. Beat 5 target tests with all characters, beat sluggish (jesus christ the loading times) drawn out classic mode with all the characters, beat all-star mode with all the characters, beat multi-man melees with every character etc etc...

Sora got really carried with Brawl unlockables, if there is one thing I hope that's scaled back in SSB4 it's that.

Fire Emblem seems way too low with how many games it's had.

I wouldn't buy it unless I grow a third arm.

I'm glad Sakurai added Diddy Kong in Brawl, but I mean, C'MON. The Donkey Kong franchise is clearly worthy of more than two fighters. I know some people are still pulling for K.Rool
and some despise the idea,
but we deserve to have something more. I'm all for K.Rool, but I'd accept other characters too. I'm not gonna be picky about it.

The guy I was previously betting with bailed out.
I was under the impression that it was a mutual agreement to end the bet. You said "Bro, if you've changed your mind we can call it off. I really don't care. I'm more interested in making a statement that there's a 0% chance the leak is fake than I am of actually changing anyone's avatar." I wouldn't have ended the bet if you didn't put forth the offer to end it.

The N64 controller is the worst controller Nintendo's ever made, I don't even know how to properly hold it. No, I wouldn't buy that P.O.S.

You hold the two handles that are required for the game. Your left hand is typically the only one that will move. When using the middle handle, wrap your hand around it such that your index finger can easily press the Z button while your thumb rests on the analog stick.

Fire Emblem seems way too low with how many games it's had.

It's hard to find sales data for 25 year-old Japanese games, but I can't imagine it being much higher than that. In all fairness, I think Fire Emblem deserves 3-4 characters due to how long the series has been around. The same could be said for DK, but Sakurai doesn't seem to care. Kid Icarus on the other hand...

So after I go through classic on normal once as mac and unlock
Jiggs
, I'm going to go through and beat it with the rest of the Zelda characters and
most likely not
unlock Ganondorf.

My smash plans are set!

Also, there should be Doubles Classic. That would be fun.

The joystick on the N64 controller is the most painful to use joystick in the history of video games. It was terrible.

I mean, it was Nintendo's first thumbstick basically but man you cannot go back to that.

The proper ways to hold it are:

I did not hold it like so, I held it it with my left hand on the left prong with my thumb on the control stick, and my right hand on the right prong. The middle prong was just hanging there.

Oooh...kay. This is all very silly. So, basically, Smashboards is saying this guy is the leaker, which is probably not true whether the leaks are fake or not. Got it.
Also, if the guy on smashboards isn't the leaker, then that means that he never said leak 2 wasn't his since that also came from SB LMAO.

I knew it was odd that he said he only leaked a couple of the pictures when it was obvious everything from leak 1 and leak 2 was well....the same leak imo.. The truth is likely the leaker posted dlc & all of the pics in leak 1 & 2 and hasn't been seen since haha.

Really, the only way I'd buy a new N64 controller is if they changed the material of the joystick. They can keep it the way it moved before, but the plastic was not fun on my thumbs
Or palms >.<

That's what I hated. Getting characters through the SSE wasn't fun for me. And the alternate methods were all really uninteresting.

Huh? They were about on par with Melee's.

Captain Falcon - Beat Classic in 12 minutes or less
Falco - Complete 100-man brawl (same as Melee)
Ganondorf - Clear Classic on Hard with Link or Zelda
Lucario - Complete all 5 Target Tests with a character
Luigi - Complete Classic without continuing
Marth - Finish Classic on any difficulty (Jigglypuff in Melee, Marth required playing with all characters in Classic or multiplayer once)
Game & Watch - Complete Target Tests on any level with 30+ characters (In Melee, it was completing Target Test with all characters)
Ness - Reflect ten projectiles
ROB - Get 250 different Trophies
Snake - Play 15 matches on Shadow Moses Island
Sonic - Beat Classic Mode with 10 characters (Young Link in Melee)
Wolf - Complete Boss Mode with Fox or Falco
Jigglypuff - Finish the first 20 events

The only problem is that to unlock Toon Link,Wolf and Jiggly without resorting to multiplayer match numbers, you also needed to finish SSE.

Sora got really carried with Brawl unlockables, if there is one thing I hope that's scaled back in SSB4 it's that.

Melee also had trophies for stuff like finishing All Star with every character. It's just that it wasn't visible to the player before doing it, unlike Brawl with its challenge board. Besides, in Brawl you had the hammers that could unlock things without the requirement.

I don't really think sales are all that important when it comes to character selection (though they certainly contribute to the popularity of a series), and to be honest, I don't mind Palutena (neither Dark Pit if he is true), or the 2 Awakening newcomers, however, Donkey Kong and Metroid both are severely underrepresented in Smash. I mean, DK has 10 times the sales of either Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem, but FE has twice as many characters, and KI has as many, or 1 more, than DK. It just feels ... unbalanced?

I really hope Smash 4 remedies that, and I think that if we get a third character for both franchises, we're definitely settled. Dixie or Cranky for DK and Ridley for Metroid would be perfect, but I'd take anything.

Also, please Sakurai, stop making shitty DK levels. The only bearable one was Kongo Jungle in 64, since then all the DK stages were ass.
