Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

I hope Smash Run is as fully-featured as Air Ride's City Trial, if not more so. So, like, custom rules, lots of interesting mid-game events, a ton of different and varied match types (which can also be played on their own), that sort of thing.

Maybe we just haven't seen many of them yet, but the only match types that really stand out to me thus far are the racing ones. Hopefully the majority aren't "battle with such and such modifier" because that would kinda get old.

That's my biggest concern right there. City Trial had a lot of different game modes, so much so that you're unlikely to get a standard race unless you specify it. With the E3 build all they had on display was a standard Smash, but even with the Smash direct that was mostly what they had shown.

We'll see, I guess.

There are also climb matches, race to the finish, reflect smash. 300% and so forth.

Also random events.

I almost feel like Smash Run has some things backwards, which prevent it from really standing out.

A bit more emphasis on player interaction and fighting during the main phase would be appreciated. It doesn't need to be any major changes, just maybe have some events that happen at a certain point on the map that draw players together. As is, it seems rather isolated.

I'm not sure why stuff like Crystal Smash, Target Breaking and Enemy Hordes are part of the main phase when they'd all be perfect for final match types, too. Smash Bros has never really had any way to directly compete against others in those sort of Stadium Matches, while doing those on your own is kinda old-hat. Hell, Home Run Contest is already in the game, make that a match type too.

you people are insane

That's including the temporary lock, right?

So you slapdash sausages, how would you feel if Mii hats were connected to the Streetpass Plaza thus you only had access to them if you unlocked them in the Plaza?

Wouldn't care whatsoever.
Not like I can play those characters online ATM. So their use is going to be pretty minimal for me.

Final Smashes suck, all my Brawl characters (except Falco, who got the LANDMASTER) ended up with shitty ones and Rosalina's looks even worse.

They also need to appear a little less often.

I actually thought this was the point, in that you wouldn't actually see any other characters during the main phase. All the footage I saw of it never had two players cross, and Sakurai's comments from the Smash Direct stating that "this isn't the time to duke it out," made me think that it was something simply couldn't happen, rather than something that just didn't happen.

Agreed on the match types though. An equivalent to City Trial's Kirby Melee or a versus version of Home Run Contest would be perfect. Even Target Smash could make for a good versus mode, if certain collectible attributes also affected the size of the bomb's explosion or impact or whatnot. Even a semi cooperative mode where you worked together to fight a souped up version of Master & Crazy hand could make for a fun final event.

I love the idea of Final Smashes, but I feel like almost every Final Smash really sucks. Final Smashes should equate to fatalities or finishers, they should be huge and effective and cinematic.

Like, has everyone seen Aquaman's finisher from Injustice?

Captain Falcon is the only character with the right idea. I loved Kirby's too, and I hate his Smash 4 one. Too many of them are just dramatic sword cuts or some variant of beams.

If it wasn't for the bottom screen map I'd probably be thinking the same, but I'm not really sure why they would show you where other players are on the map if it was of no relevance at all. That, how much larger and more difficult to traverse Smash Run's map is than City Trial's, and the fact that we've only seen Vs. CPU has me thinking there's a chance that it's possible but we just haven't seen it yet. I played the Smash Run demo twice and neither time did I think to test this for some reason, lol.

If it ends up not being possible then I'd kinda be bummed. Running around and collecting power-ups is cool, but running around, collecting power-ups, and bullying people into submission is even more fun. Plus, if this is true, and the final matches are predominantly Smash with a modifier, then the only part where I'm interacting with other people is the exact same way that I usually interact with them but this time with weird stats.

I should clarify that I'm really looking forward to Smash Run though lol

Samus should have had her final smash replaced with the Power Bomb or the Hyper Beam or something else from the games.

The Zero Laser is weird because it's not actually from Metroid.

Same w/ mario and link's :/ It's such a shame. They're cool, I guess, but, i'd love it if all final smashes were strictly from everyone's games.

Making them be something cool means there's no limit as to what a final smash can be, though.

I dunno, I always thought Mario Finale/Triforce Slash/Zero Laser looked super cool.

The only FS-related problem I have is that Super Sonic's too OP and that's it.

Apparently Nintendo released an OoT remix album all the way back in 1999 (there's an article about it on Kotaku). This is a crazy good remix of Hyrule Field, and it would be great for a Wii U Zelda Stage. Seriously, listen to it.

I had fun finding appropriate tracks for Brawl when I modded my first wii. I only replaced a few tracks with actual game remixes though.

Here's a few links and the accompanying stages I replaced the music with.

The Pirate Ship

New Pork City and New Pork City

The Rest are not VG remixes, but I tried to make them fit as best I could.

Skyworld

Final Destination

Yoshi's Island

Triforce Slash, Mario Finale, Peach... peaches

Minority opinion time: I like Peach's final smash.

Not mechanically, because it's kinda boring and in a FFA match it tends to help your opponents more than harm them, but because some kinda of super attack just doesn't fit Peach. But dancing around and summoning food? Yeah, I can buy it.

Peach should bake everyone into a cake.

At least Link's and Peach's are creative and visually interesting. The Zero Laser is just a big laser.

Though it looks much better in Smash 4, and at least it doesn't suck morph balls like the Mario Finale.

I really hate how useless Mario's final smash is, but it does seem to be better in Smash 4.
