Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XIII: Leak Dynasty

Constant? He hinted to him once in a PotD which is not out of the ordinary since a lot of things have been hinted at in PotD which we still don't know much about and then again in the Direct after a segment about one boss, which is likely because he only wanted to focus on Yellow Devil but wanted to state that it wasn't the only one without giving too much away.

The hints are pretty obvious as to who he is referring to without revealing Ridley before he wants to specifically talk about him.

If anything he knew Ridley is wanted so early on he told us he's a stage hazard and later clarified he is a stage boss. Only the desperate are reading more into it.

I have to wonder how clear something is when his name is literally never uttered in the context of Smash for 3DS or Wii U by anyone involved with the game. Sakurai is definitely, utterly being teasy. There is no reason why we would be mere months away from release, and have Ridley's status be a boss who has been alluded to on multiple occasions but never shown or mentioned by name. Not only does it seem completely odd to tease a character to no one's benefit or interest.

The Lucina/Robin video is definitely the most shocking. At that time everyone was so sure it was Shulk and Gematsu was the bible. Oh the primitive minds of late July. The only bad part was Huelen beating everyone to the punch with the thread saying "CHROM, LUCINA AND ROBIN CONFIRMED FOR SMASH." NO HUELEN NO THAT'S NOT RIGHT.

I wonder if they are going to hold back any newcomer videos to the Wii U release. Obviously we will know everyone by then, but it might be a good way to build up hype.

What's bothering me about this leak, is why the fuck does Wario have his left eye missing?

It's on the CSS, take a look.

It does look weird. I think it's a combination of white pixel bleeding from bad camera and his nose covering most of the pupil. Just my guess though.

Yeah, I'd say that the Robin trailer is easily the best one. Does anyone else even come close? It even explains what you're seeing fairly well, so you get some legitimate information in addition to having your whole world torn apart.

Is there really a case of Sakurai doing something to explicitly and exclusively make a group of players unhappy?

Nope, it's a bizarre meme, because Sakurai seems to try and do everything possible to make as many people as possible happy. There were a few times where people got upset at his wording (FYI I'm an Assist Trophy) and stuff like ZSS fake out, but those weren't really serious bait and switches some people accuse him of doing.

Mega Man's trailer is the best one, even though Mega Man's not my most anticipated newcomer (at least, anymore). From the moment you saw the CHALLENGER APPROACHING banner to Mega Man himself appearing on screen, everything about his trailer made it super clear that the kid gloves are off. This is going to be the Smash where a bunch of shit you weren't expecting happens, if we can introduce fucking Mega Man in the initial reveal you know there's serious surprises in store.

Getting WFT later in the day just emphasized that.

The Wii Fit Trainer announcement is still my favourite, if not only for the audience's reaction.
I'm all in for more "wtf" characters and on-stage reveals, it's a shame they didn't take the chance at the Invitational.

While the Smash 4 roster is indeed surprising, I think Brawl's was more so. No precedent for third party characters, and even then, Snake is the last one you'd expect. Zero Suit Samus was probably more improbable than Wii Fit Trainer, Pit wasn't exactly a shoe-in, either.

All of the reveal trailers have been pretty incredible, but Little Mac's was my favorite character-wise since I've been pulling for him to join the fray for years now, and Robin/Lucina's was my favorite for the sheer unpredictability--and because it turned me on to Fire Emblem!

For those curious the last 15 days during the run up to Brawl. Remember information was still coming out after this (mostly secret things). Interesting how many things were new even this close to release. Two stages, one character, one item and four modes. Brawl Dojo did have "padding" like Final Smashes that we're unlikely to get. But it does to show that we may get a few surprises in the next 15 PotD postings.

I reckon when the game releases in Japan, Sakurai will upload spoiler tagged pics which will have substantial information.

Also, I'm guessing stage builder will be confirmed this week or so.

Small: OldSansBlack, Size 30px, Vertical scale: 85%, Horizontal scale: max 115%, Tracking: 120

Big: Geneva CY, Size: 80 px, Tracking: -100

They don't actually match the original fonts. They are just very close substitutes.
Alright, thanks. I was able to identify the typeface used for Smash, and that's Tablet Gothic Condensed Heavy. I don't know if that's used elsewhere.

I disagree on ZSS and Pit, considering Zero Mission was still relatively recent (and Samus's suit design came from that game) and Pit was a "retro" character whose name was thrown out fairly often, but I'll go halfway on Snake.

I'm mostly only emphasizing Mega Man because after Villager earlier that day, it made it clear that characters who got passed over before had a second chance this time.

Well having just gone through the Dojo updates the one thing that stuck out was Sheik's very late reveal. Zelda herself was revealed about six months before so Sakurai managed to tease her for that long. Ridley's status isn't really that odd if you consider that.

Also all the butt hurt that followed afterwards. Remember the remove WFT petition? Even Number One Pikachu fan Geoff Keighley was upset by her reveal. It was delicious.

He's mostly centred on the CSS, there's not a single glimpse of his eye.

But alas, could be wrong.

The pupil is there, it's just hard to see and given Wario's expression on his face it makes sense why the pupil is placed where it is (almost at the corner of his eye where his nose obscures it).

Wario is a cooky character in general, his eyes go where they want. :P

Also, this was already pointed out days ago, Sah. It's been talked about.

I'm still unsure if the stage builder will be present in the 3DS version, if at all. It seems like a natural choice for a Wii U-specific mode: it would easily integrate with the gamepad, and would make use of the larger screen, deeper online integration and higher storage capacity afforded to that version. It might also benefit from some more development time as well, considering the limitations in Brawl's editor.

No way, lol. I don't remember anyone ever saying, "oh yeah, I'm pulling for Samus without her power suit."

I actually had a few friends who were obsessed with ZSS at the time (because horny teenagers) and they were pushing for a Zelda-style transformation where she got faster and more agile.

I can't say I remember any sentiment for her on the internet at the time, but I definitely heard support for her locally. Pit's definitely a name that came up relatively often though.

I'm sure it will.

Using QR's to send them to friends, or by StreetPassing or SpotPassing would be very simple, the touch-screen would be great for placing pieces on the grid and so forth. It works well for both platforms.

Also, cross-platform custom stage sharing?

If it's anything near to being as limited as Brawl's editor was, can't say I'll weep much for its omission.

I remember during Brawl's hype train, there was this Smashboards poster that was really REALLY pissed about how the game was becoming more casual friendly that had a SSJ3 Goku avatar. Used to get a bit of spotlight with his triads. Anyone know if he's still around? (Or do people even know what I'm talking about?)
Yes, Dylan Tnga. At the time he was /v/'s poster child for SmashBoards and the tournament community and basically all negative feelings towards that community is down to him.

Tripping was added to add an artificial means to help casual players, so it's not just there to disappoint.

Well yes, but the only way this is an analogous situation is if Ridley ends up playable. The reason why it isn't is because by the end of the day, Sheik players will play as Sheik. If Ridley fans can't play as Ridley, the teasing only exists to disappoint.

You don't understand the grief of somebody who has a waifu main in danger of being cut.

Talk about cutting, my future main still hasn't been confirmed

It hurts because just about every other character I really wanted for smash4, Robin, MM, Little Mac, Shulk, etc. has already been confirmed or leaked. Isaac is still coming, don't worry guys. Just want double confirmation

Ivysaur probably won't be coming, which makes me sad because Ivysaur was the best one to play as of all the Pokemon Trainer's pokemon

This stream made me realize how pretty boring the selection for 3DS stages is if the leak is true.

Also why does the Gameboy stage not use the Gameboy as a stage selection screen mrgrgr petty niggles

I think the implication is that it's not a Gameboy stage, but a Kirby's Dream Land 1 stage.

Which would have been hinted at by Kirby and Dedede in their monochrome-ish colors.
