It'd be nice to revisit the concept of the original commercial, but I'm not sure If I ever want to see this in motion.

The Saw/Hostel/Texas Chainsaw Massacre demographic is an untapped minefield of potential smash customers.

K Rool is still the main villain of the Donkey Kong series because they haven't introduced anyone to take his place.

If anyone deserves to get in, it's K Rool. The SNES DKC games are some of the most important in Nintendo history.

I'd prefer Dixie over K Rool too. She'd be very different from Diddy though.

No tail, copter hair. I suppose she'll have the cartwheel.

I've got nothing against King K. Rool. Dude was the Donkey Kong's main villain for several games. If he was in I wouldn't mind it. My issue is two-piece.

1. Dixie should be the next rep considering she is still a major part of the franchise. Her being female and possibly being able to be a partial clone of Diddy are bonuses.

2. I really don't like he's design. Compared to all the characters in Smash and on the leak he looks definitely the worse. He's whole huge potbelly while not wearing clothes really looks ugly. Again personal preference.

Not that I care either way between K. Rool and Dixe, but I'm just curious: Why would Dixie being a clone of Diddy be a good thing to you?

I don't get how looks have to do with anything with being in Smash. I'm a huge KKR fan but I don't believe he won't be in but it won't be cause of looks or relevancies.

The Kremlings have been gone just as long as K. Rool, but here they are. I'm at the least expecting K. Rool to be a boss character. Sakurai just doesn't seem to give DK the same amount of attention as he does other popular franchises in Smash.

Exactly. I get the personal qualms and the relevancy issues people have with him. It's just there are other DK characters that deserve to get in over him. Dixie being the most obvious, and Cranky would be my next pick. I think he's been deconfirmed though, sadly.

I dislike the turn Cranky has taken post-Rare. He's supposed to be a whiny old monkey who insults everybody and talks a big game but doesn't do shit, and the whole point of the character is lost when you can play as him and he's actually competent.

Ganondorf hasn't appeared in a mainline Zelda title since 2006. There are plenty of reasons to dislike K. Rool, but I don't think the "irrelevancy" card has as much merit as you think it does. Ultimately Sakurai has the final say, and if his apathy towards the Metroid Prime series is any indication, then I expect Dixie to show up as a Sticker. Cue the waterworks.
What apathy towards the Metroid Prime games? We've gotten a stage and an assist trophy from them. Granted, not the coolest of stages, but it's more than a lot of games get.

Wind Waker HD was released in 2013.

all the most deserving newcomers are already confirmed anyway :P

But Panther Caroso hasn't sexied up the roster yet D:

I just dislike looking at him and him being in Smash would involve me looking at him more.

If he's in, eh. Sucks for me. If not, good for me.

That's the exact same attitude I had towards Pac-Man, but I've kinda warmed up to his attendance now. If Sakurai were to ever put K. Rool in, he'd probably find a way to make it appealing to plenty of people

Considering they're 3 great games, one of which in the top 10 games of all time, uh, they're kind of getting shafted. Should get Ridley and Dark Samus as playable.

king k rool or bust

if Dixie i'll go meh, shes basically the same size as diddy, but i would laugh at the recovery being better then metaknight, infinite glide

king k rool can be a deedede clone , his up B can be a jump and waddle dee throw is crown throw

i did half your work sakurai

Eh, the DK series already has two playable protagonists, I'd prefer throwing in an antagonist for variety's sake instead of a third one.

...Though if a fourth DK character were in the cards, I'd definitely want it to be Dixie.

Also, any Metroid Prime is too much Metroid Prime if you ask me. Smash's supposed to be a celebration of the best rather than the worst games ever made.

Ridley isn't relegated to just Metroid Prime, though. Don't get me wrong, I think Metroid is underrepresented, with this odd fascination with lava levels, but it just seemed odd to single Metroid Prime out when it's received a stage and an assist trophy.

Cranky is a curious case in which, loving the character, I jump at the chance to play as him in Tropical Freeze, and would seriously main him if he ever became a Smasher solely for how fond I am of him.....BUT on the other hand, it's true that the second you make him mute, so much of the charm that made me like him in the first place is lost. I'd love if he was an assist trophy a lá Resetti that broke the fourth wall with no remorse and tossed dirt over aspects of the game. Then again that distinctly British humor hasn't been seen since the Rare days.

I feel that DK, Metroid, and Kirby really need to all have four reps.

Dixie Kong
King K. Rool
Ridley
Dark Samus
Rick

Wouldn't be too bad now, would it?

MP is its own side story in the Metroid canon, though. Metroid Other M is a single game in the series and saw Metroid get its fifth stage out of six based on that storyline (Zebes, Brinstar, Brinstar but deeper, Norfair, and Pyropshere). It's just super important to a lot of people that Prime gets a fair shake.

Yep. While I love how he plays in TF, they completely dropped the ball on how he should act. PAON didn't do any wonders to the DK characters, either.

This is the Cranky I know. This guy was a one man team. Shame we didn't get Diddy Kong Pilot.

The older games have fewer viable characters to have playable. SA-X? Adam? *Yawn*

And the Meta Ridley boss in Brawl. Considering the Japanese perspective of the Prime series as being unpopular Western spinoffs, I'd say it's represented just fine. Dozens of Nintendo franchises wish they had a boss, stage, and Assist Trophy.

It's more over Samus's Prime 2 look getting skipped over when it was her most recent costume for Brawl (Not counting Prime Hunters and Pinball).

Japan also didn't buy Super Metroid, who cares about the Japanese perspective on Metroid? The series is unpopular there in general, not just Prime. It's like asking for the American perspective on Mother.

Apologies if this has been posted already.

This is amazing.

He's the villain in 4 of 6 platformers. Don't know what else qualifies as main.

But the most recent of those four platformers came out 15 years ago, and the two most recent games don't even so much as whisper the word "Kremling." I think the dude's gone from the series for good.

Okay, but Skyward Sword reveals Ganondorf's origin, so it's not like he's just gone completely and utterly ignored since Twilight Princess (unlike K. Rool, who's gone totally ignored since DKC 3).

Samus was never redesigned to match her Metroid Prime look; for some bizarre reason, the Prime series is considered a spin-off by Sakurai. Instead, they just glossed over it and are now focusing on Other M, a game hated by pretty much everybody.

Wind Waker HD was released in 2013.

If we're counting remakes and ports, then hot damn, K. Rool has appeared in ELEVEN mainline Donkey Kong games; more than DK himself!

Donkey Kong Country (SNES)
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (SNES)
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble (SNES)
Donkey Kong Land (GB)
Donkey Kong Land 2 (GB)
Donkey Kong Land III (GB)
Donkey Kong 64 (N64)
Donkey Kong Country (GBC)
Donkey Kong Country (GBA)
Donkey Kong Country 2 (GBA)
Donkey Kong Country 3 (GBA)

Okay, but that still doesn't really show Prime being underrepresented relative to other games. The Metroid Prime trilogy is in my top 10 games of all time, but considering DKC2 has had 0 stages or characters pulled from it specifically, the fact we have a unique location from it is nice. Ridley is one of my most wanted newcomers, but he represents the series as a whole. I just think sometime people act like Sakurai has something against it and I don't see that.

In addition, Ganon appeared in ALBW last year, and the remakes of both OoT and WW were released relatively recently. Whereas K. Rool hasn't even gotten cameos besides suspicious rock formations.
