fuckouttahere lmao

I love Spitta but he is not a top tier rapper, let's be real. You're honestly going to argue he has better lyrics than Kendrick Lamar, when Spitta's lyrical content is 100% blunts, cars, and chicks? You're going to argue Spitta has better metaphors than Kendrick, better storytelling? Better flow? His flow is quite limited (and low energy) when compared to Kendrick. I hate to sound like I'm shitting on him, I think Pilot Talk and Covert Coup are two of the best rap albums in recent memory...but he's not in Kendrick's ballpark as a rapper.

Flatbush Zombies is a group, not a rapper. Nor are they particularly good rappers, and they also have limited subject matter.

Joey Badass? His first mixtape was dope but since then he hasn't grown as an artist at all. His flow is pretty weak thanks to that forced Jamaican shit...he just isn't releasing good music right now.

Mick Jenkins is really dope, no complaints there although I think Kendrick is better, and has put out better material; but Jenkins has a lot of potential. Apathy...no.

im not arguing lyrics for lyrics, i was argue total package as an artist. haha and save the Kendrick metaphor talk for someone who hasnt heard an eyedea, el-p, aesop, illogic, etc song. Kendrick has good metaphors if you compare him to mainstream, you start comparin kendrick to underground and his "metaphors" become on the nose lyrics that might have a double meaning but nothing special. and ill argue joey flow wise is better than Kendrick, maybe not vocally in tone, but the way he delivers is much better than kendrick. flatbush, yeah i guess theyre a group and dont count ,but Better Off Dead was a solid album and collectively had great lyrics. curren$y was a response to the poppier side of Kendricks work. and i still hold that apathy is a better artist than Kendrick so your not getting me to move from that one lol.

but ok here are some alternatives for the other three:

-capital steez (although he's dead so idk how much that counts now)
-pharaoh monarch
-blu

im trying to pool artist that came out around the same time as kendrick and a similar. in all honesty i dont think all that many new artist are that great, kendricks good for new artist but theres tons of slightly older artists putting out better work than kendrick but im not listing them becuase theyve been around longer.

well since you haven't responded to my question ill just throw out five rappers who are current and better than kendrick and more consistent with lyrics, flow, and beat.

-Apathy
-Mick Jenkins
-Curren$y
-Flatbush Zombies
-Joey Badass

I just saw him live on the 17th and it was a great show whether you're an oldschool fan or a new school fan. Hear Just don't give a fuck and Still don't give a fuck back to back was awesome.

I hope it is a solo album and not a collab album of Shady records which is what it is sounding like right now. MMLP2 was not my favorite album but I know I'm going to get some gems like Groundhog Day (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRMUeJRxN0c). I don't care what you say that's one of my favorite songs of his of all time.

BTW this new album has been confirmed to be a 2 disc set. 1 is going to be greatest hits and the other is a compilation disc with new material from Em, D12, Slaughterhouse, Yela, and Em and Royce as Bad Meets Evil.

Shady XV referring to 15 years of the record label, not SSLP.

Hopefully the production includes everyone and at least Alchemist. Bass brothers did mention few months back they were working with D12 so this could be the result. A lot of these guys can't carry full albums so this might be the best option!

So I called it on both fronts?

It was good.

Just not eminems best.

After the calm down verse, I'm kinda interested to see if he can black out on a couple tracks (no im not expecting him to ever match his prime).

As for kendrick, I have still not heard anything from him that sounds like he isn't just the best of a shitty generation. If Kendrick came through in the late 90's he would be seen as average as fuck.

Then you have people like Los who raps circles around damn near everybody, getting no mainstream attention. smh.

Man I forgot these dudes existed after they signed with Shady. Totally missed their studio album a couple years back. Loved the Slaughterhouse EP tho. Was the album any good?

Shaking my head at some of the blatant hate in this thread.

New track is aight. Really liked most of MMLP2. Accents, shouting, etc. never bothered me. A lot of Em's off the wall shit I find extremely entertaining and funny. Bagpipes from Baghdad, White Trash Party, and hell Rain Man was one of my favorite tracks from Encore. I appreciate thoughtful, deep, introspective creative works as much as the next person, but sometimes I just wanna hear a dick or fart joke. It's like people expect the next coming of Christ with every new album. The guy does what he does and if you haven't liked it in years then guess what?

"cause there's no more emotion for me to pull from, just a bunch of playful songs that I make for fun."

That's a line from his new track. I think he will struggle to find any sort of meaningful emotion aside from personal family life, maintaining relevancy, haters, his past, etc. which just makes all of the silly and entertaining shit much better in my opinion at this point in his career. I mean "Love Game" was great and it wasn't anything serious.

With an Eminem album I always expect entertainment mixed in with some incredible technical skills. I seriously doubt this album will fail to deliver in those two aspects. As far as the albums content, I remember in one of the interviews for MMLP2 there was talk about how much content he actually had that couldn't fit on the album. I wonder if some of those tracks aren't making their way to this album. Also, yes to whoever said Em needs to make a concept album. I would love to see what he would do.

I have listened to plenty of eyedea, el-p, aesop, illogic, Brother Ali, Atmosphere, etc. I listen to a shit ton of underground stuff. Kendrick was underground just a few years ago, and I'd content his metaphors and lyrics remain strong today. Does he have some poppy songs? Yea. Yet even his poppy songs aren't as dumbed down as one would expect.

Pharaoh Monch is better than most rappers, I won't disagree. However GKMC is better than everything Monch has done since his first album...

Blu has one classic, amazing album and a collection of hit-n-miss material. I won't deny he is still very good, but I think he's on the downturn.

I really hate the whole age thing in rap. Em doesn't even really try to act young unless the mere act of releasing albums is considered such.

He even has 2-3 songs on MMLP2 about being old and out of touch with kids and technology.

Comments like "he was just perfect before Encore" and "everything after TES is pure trash" really are beyond me.
It's not even about expressing your own opinion - is these sort of mixed bags statements that really scare me, in a much larger scale that this one. One of the clearest examples of what is wrong with people, in my opinion.
Also, not liking something is quite different from calling it crap. I truly dislike Matthew Bellamy's voice, per say, yet I won't go around calling Muse's songs shit.
Is it so hard to politely express someone's own opinion with backed-up, elaborate thoughts?

"Welcome to the Internet" - yeah.
Anyways.

Moving on - I've always loved Em (and still do) as much as I've always thought of him as mixed.
The first three albums were its peak, yeah, but flowing through his personal journey he has brought us some truly amazing songs. I would have probably left him had he kept his Shady persona all the time - not to mention the drugs that would've probably killed him beforehand.
What's wrong with Love Game, Welcome 2 Hell, Take From Me, Going Through Changes, No Love, Wicked Ways... Just to name a few? And there's much, much more to that.
I'd take these over plenty other older songs, even among the first three albums.

What I do agree with is that at this point, after four years, the bottle is full of Recovery-water, so I'd go for a sort of metaphorical concept album too. His skills and genius are mostly intact, and getting some serious feats and producer on board could equal to a truly amazing boom-out.
Except yeah, it most likely won't happen. But he's not stupid (this last song was a self-warning show-off), so I'm eager to see what's next.

I listen to this song, and then compare it to People Under the Stairs's new album, and it's night and day. Thes One and Double K could rap circles around present day Eminem, and more cleverly as well. Thes One specifically, man, he's such a dope emcee. Very underrated.

But yeah, this song is garbage. The lyrics, beat, chorus, and rapping are all terrible. Go retire for good, Em.

what are you talking about?? Eminem has been mediocre since his debut. he had one, maybe two decent albums. the only reason he picked up any steam is because Dr.Dre marketed the hell out of him as a "white rapper" to suburbanites who didnt really listen to hiphop. Eminem is a master at nothing in regards to hiphop, his lyrics are mediocre, his flow is whack, and his beats for the most part arent catchy or interesting. by you saying Eminem is "god" ill just go an assume you likely dont listen to hiphop. its like the same thing for Kendrick Lamar now a days, he's the black Eminem. non-hiphop heads constantly roll him out as some great hiphop artists and savior, when he's ok at best. Kendrick's about one single a way from doing a Rihana collab lol.

Most loved, therefore most hated. It happens to everyone who reaches the top.

I feel like I've heard this new song 100 times already. Its going to be so over played at bars and clubs and its not even good.

He even admits in the song that he's recycling the same material!

It wasn't. It really is an amazing track, specially because adds salt to the wound of the Em detractors.

Nah, it just shows that all he needs to do is go fast with no point for Em stans to cream their pants.

His punchlines, lyrics and flow have become rather putrid. He can somehow make the flow sound OK here and there but dude needs to realize that the only reason he's still a thing is cause he gives amateur white rappers in high school hope.

Haha, looks like Rap God made you catch some feelings.

Uh, summa lumma dooma lumma you assuming I'm a human
What I gotta do to get it through to you I'm superhuman
Innovative and I'm made of rubber, so that anything you say is
Ricochet in off a me and it'll glue to you
And I'm devastating more than ever demonstrating
How to give a motherfuckin' audience a feeling like it's levitating
Never fading, and I know that haters are forever waiting
For the day that they can say I fell off, they'll be celebrating
'Cause I know the way to get 'em motivated
I make elevating music
You make elevator music
"Oh, he's too mainstream."
Well, that's what they do
When they get jealous, they confuse it
"It's not hip hop, it's pop."
'Cause I found a hella way to fuse it
With rock, shock rap with Doc
Throw on "Lose Yourself" and make 'em lose it

What exactly is impressive about Rap God unless you don't listen to hip hop outside of Eminem? It's not a bad song but lyrically what is the appeal? He's rapping real fast, wooo. There are so many better "talking shit" tracks, with far better production.

It is between Rap God or Bad Guy

Bad Guy is in his top 5 in my opinion. Among the very best tracks since Beautiful - the post-2009 era, that is, since Beautiful is basically a bridge to Recovery.
So incredibly dense and powerful, other than brave in its own right; trying to go grab Stan from its historical throne alone was no joke, but I think he more than succeeded.

Rap God is immense, battling up there on top with Wicked Ways and Love Game.
