Ike is my second character so at least he made it in.
After that it's going to be messing with these newcomers to see who I like.
Robin, Lucina, WFT, Rosalina, Shulk, Little Mac, and Palutena.
Which thankfully is way more characters I have to look forward to then I did in Brawl. So i'm bound to have fun with the new cast even if i'll feel a piece is always missing.



I can still experience it though. Just because I know Shulk is in the game I don't know how his trailer is going to play out. Neither do I know how he'll feel when I finally play him.

But what about the way the Captain Falcon (and friends) trailer worked? We were so certain that Shulk would be it and we were all blown away when it turned out to be Robin (since it pretty much deconfirmed Gematsu on a basic level.). We're not going to get that anymore, and instead it will just be talk about how cool the trailer looked, and not how surprising the reveal was.

I'm not saying we're losing the spectacle, but we are losing the shock of a reveal.

Me? Personally? Definitely like a 4. Too many returning stages and the returning Melee stages that are there are the same ones from Brawl (which are stages I flat out have never liked! Well, except Corneria... Freaking Brinstar and Jungle Japes, though!)

It's weird because I had one request for a stage (much like many had one dream character) and that was a Kirby's Dream Land inspired course with GB graphics.

It looks like we'll be getting exactly that. My one (realistic) wish was granted so I can't really be upset.

But assuming that is all the stages it would have been nice to see more new stages for a variety of series. Some have one stage and it's just an import. Still, I'm on #TeamHope, hoping that there is more to come.

The guy (NewZeo) who talked about Duck Hunt Dog, Bowser Jr., Dr. Mario and Dark Pit over a month ago (also included info in Chorus Kids who we haven't seen yet) on Smashboards along with a few other details like alts and pallette swaps is now pretty sure we're also getting Ridley, Dixie, Mewtwo, Mach Rider and Impa in the default game. Doesn't seem to know what happened to the Chorus Kids though. Worth pointing out a /v/ thread which caused him to post all this in the first place along with Duck Hunt Dog, Shulk and Bowser Jr. also included Chorus Kids, Ridley, Dixie and Mewtwo.

I'm feeling like if they happen Mach Rider would be yet another Falcon clone (Fox had two semi-clones in Brawl so it's not unprecedented) and Impa a Sheik clone.

I can understand what you're saying. Snake's reveal in Smash being ruined for me would definitely have taken away from the impact. Just on the most basic level I really do prefer knowing whats coming than surprises in terms of fighting games and inclusions and the like. If we were talking story mode of any kind than yeah I wouldn't want that. With all that said the shock of the reveal can be just as great as the reveal itself so it is unfair of me to say I don't need it. Since I loved it with the FE trailer.

Obviously no one really knows, but

when I think of Mach Rider I think it would be another C. Falcon.

Could work as a Snake clone too. But going from a character like Snake to an unknown retro character like M.R. seems... wrong somehow. I don't even think Snake is all that iconic, and I love retro stuff, but it feels like too big of a step down.

Eh... I think if the reveal trailers had come out as planned it would've been more surprising and hype, but the leaks were fun I guess. They could've been handled better and given to better people but the bumbling leakers were also fun.

I feel like we were always gonna be short-changed on stages because the fact that there's different ones in the 3DS and Wii U versions. I think we'll get less overall variety in both versions, but combining all the different stages will have a bigger count and variety than Brawl.

Alright guys, obviously anything could change, but if this is indeed our final list of newcomers:

How do you feel Smash 4 did with it's newcomer selection? I made this picture so you try and think of the newcomers as a whole, not just the ones leaked.

Me personally? A few missed opportunities aside, fucking stoked. 15 new fighters is nothing to scoff regardless of clones, and you could even bump that number to 17 if you count the Mii Fighter as 3 different characters.

Good mix of males, females and creatures. Dark Pit feels like a weak addition, but then again we have 2 Links, 2 Samus etc

Overall very happy with it, would maybe have liked one more 'mature' character like Impa or Ridley (but that always felt like a pipedream to me).

A 9 probably. Massive disappointment.

Fucking ridiculous that so many franchises, especially ones with traditionally strong handheld presence get only retro stages to rep them (DK, Yoshi, Wario, Metroid, Starfox, Sonic, the list goes on). Meanwhile 4 Mario stages lol

7 or 8. Wayyy too many returning stages, especially mediocre ones (I didn't exactly want to see Brinstar, Flat Zone 2, Green Hill Zone, or Mushroomy Kingdom again,) and the apparent lack of new stages for several major franchises is a real shame. Also, that Gameboy stage being the only Kirby stage is a huge disappointment. I can't think of a single stage I'd want less for Kirby.

My one true regret from the leak is the lack of utter confusion with the eventual DHD trailer.

I'd have raised eyebrows at Bowser Jr. I'd have gotten in line for the Shulk reveal. But nothing would have prepared me for DHD.

Now, while I'm still quite curious about how his trailer will be formed, I'm kind of sad that this potential mind-blown moment has been taken away from me.
